Everything was great. What a stunning location, wonderful views in every direction. The staff could not do enough to make our stay special, including cooking what we asked to be prepared as a special meal. there is a wonderful local bar next door that serves great, if lethal, ponchas. there are great levada walks within a few minutes walking distance, the one to the east leads to a second levada that is now unused but retains a superb and spectacular path. It was one of the best levada walks out of the 12 we completed on the holiday. We long to return and enjoy the hotel, room 3 especially, and do more local walking. there are other great restaurants in nearby Ponta do Sol.
Hotel has been totally refurbished and has new owners. We were one of the first couples to stay. Only 2 of the 12 rooms occupied. Staff v helpful - we ate dinner in the restaurant alone - cooked by the cook - excellent home grown avocados, rabbit and dessert. Beautiful gardens - many free silver bananas. Very restful location - ideal contrast to Funchal
No complaints about hotel but it is a long way from Ponta Del Sol and really is a hotel rural. Suited us ideally but you could not walk to restaurants nearby if you wanted.
The original features of the quinta and the peaceful relaxing surroundings
It did require a car to get to it
Meals cooked using local produce. Restaurant staff were very friendly. The bedroom was very comfortable
As it was out of season there was very limited choice in the restaurant, the lounge area was cold, and we were asked to eat at 7.00 pm. We were also asked for payment, in cash if possible, on arrival. It was 5km from the main road up a very steep hill.
The hotel itself is a beautiful building in a fantastic setting. Not being too big you get good, friendly personal service from the staff. The meals were excellent with most of the food being grown and sourced locally (i.e. on the ewstate).
Although in a beautiful setting, access via car (which is really needed due to the position on a steep hillside) is difficult, and the car parking spaces are limited.
