Nestled in the beautiful gulf of Portoferraio, The Fabricia displays an ambience of understated Tuscan charm and hospitality. The hotel, whose architecture reminds one of a large Tuscan villa immersed in the countryside, is surrounded by olive trees and Mediterranean vegetation. Surrounded by fields and olive groves, since 1973 it has evolved into an elegant hotel, paying homage to its gracious Elban farming roots and enduring Elban historic legacy. The property extends to the sea, where a XVIII century old wall used to protect vignards and olive trees from the sea winds force and now stands as a privacy wall to the beach. The hotel is located in an environmentally protected area, and has been a consistent recipient of the Recommended Hotels & C. on account of their commitment to environmental protection.
It was quiet and relaxing and Management was very helpful in assisting our travel arrangements from their hotel to Roma.
Lack of air conditioning at night. The bed was very uncomfortable and we asked for it to be changed and it wasn't. This made our stay disappointing because of lack of sleep. When we arrived the check in staff didn't explain to us that we had to reserve a table each day for the evening meal, this was explained to us on the second night we were there and this made us feel uncomfortable, however they did accommodate us in the resturant.
We both liked the situation of the Hotel together with the choice of beach or good size pool. It would have been an ideal base from which to explore the island if we had more time but overall we enjoyed our stay with you. Gracie
Cleaniness and comfort of the room
The beach was not a natural one and the staff were rather "off hand" at times although this did not appear true for the guests that they knew better and who were staying longer
This hotel was in no way of 4* quality
The room was very basic and the hotel was too far away from the centre.
Location, grounds and swimming pool. Only stayed on B&B basis.
Receptionist (female) was rude on arrival. Air conditioning in room allocated did not work - changed room after some persistence. Room furnishings not 4 star standard.
Pool area was really wonderful, as well as breakfast on the terrace
Unfortunately, my husband was covered in Bed Bug bites after the first night. I don't feel that the hotel was dirty, just bad luck I guess
It is in a peaceful area, and close enough to Portoferraio so that you can go into town at night if you want - if you are willing to pay for a taxi or have a car.
It is very well serviced by public transportation - hardly at all in fact - so that if you want to go out to eat or head out at night, you have to pay for an expensive taxi ride both ways, or rent a car or moped. The hotel itself is fairly nice, although definitely not a 4 star hotel as it is advertised. It has a nice pool and a good breakfast.
