Room was clean and neat. Refrigerator, TV and such all worked fine. Pool and Spa are located in front of building on street side. Location seemed safe and clean.
We've tried a few different hotels in this area since we stay here often and thought we'd give this one a try since, honestly, it was the cheapest. There's a reason for this. Check-in was complicated. She gave us the room key for an already occupied room. Thankfully we hadn't entered the room before she realized her error and met us outside the door, just as we were turning around to go back to the lobby since the 'Do Not Disturb' sign placed on the door knob alerted us that Goldilocks was inside. She gave us a key for a different room that smelled horrible! I'm not sure if it was the disinfectant or some carpet sprinkle stuff, but the smell was actually nauseating and my husband had a headache within 10 min. We opened the windows to air it out and left for dinner. By the time we got back the smell was tolerable enough and we were beyond tired from driving all day, that we decided to just go to bed. Next morning we wake up, attempt to take a shower, and the shower doesn't work. A call to the front desk gets us yet another room, this one smaller everything but at least it doesn't smell too terrible. He agrees to reduce the rate for our stay, we take our showers in the new room without complication, even though we're now late for our destination. Then front desk man says he checked the shower in the other room and according to him 'works fine' and refuses to reduce the rate. The showers were the exact same, except one worked and one didn't. This isn't user error, it's not rocket science! I tell him to show us, he refuses. After arguing for awhile, we decide this place is worthless and even though we were supposed to stay another night, we checked into a different hotel down the road. This place might be cheaper, but so is sleeping in your car. Don't bother.
Easy entry/exit off major street. Convenient access to highways and freeway. Clean, comfortable rooms at a reasonable price. Would not hesitate to return.
The motel was very centerly located for our needs and the staff were very friendly. The continental was very appealing to us and was always fresh and a nice variety for breakfast. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting the San Diego area.
One overworked clerk trying to do his best... room was not vacuumed - leftover fruit loops from previous guest. Took over 2 hours before it was vacuumed as the clerk had a telephone meeting with management. Clerk was nice enough but will never recommend or stay at this place again.
Had three rooms for two nights. They were clean and comfortable. Maybe they have improved their cleaning service since the previous reviews. We had some problems with our bill, and they resolved it to our benefit. We were well satisfied with our stay.
Room smelled; carpet felt damp, even though it was dry, air conditioner did not work and blew out air that smelled like mold; bathroom was filthy; lamps and top of armoire were covered in dust; there was no remote control for the TV. When we called to complain, they just asked if we wanted another room to which I responded, do you have a clean one? We did not even stay 1 night out, we just left and went to another hotel for our trip. The other hotel was only $* per night more, but infinitely better in cleanliness. Also, when we went to turn in our room keycards, another visitor was changing rooms, so their room must not have been up to par either. The staff member was so cavalier about things, I can only imagine this is a regular occurrence for guests to be dissatisfied.
For the amount of money I paid for my stay, it was very nice. The breakfast was awesome, and the staff was so friendly and considerate. The housekeeping crew could have been better, there was trash left over from the previous guest. No worries, still a good stay.
my hotel was close to local attractions and family, between10 and 20 miles. however after coming back to the hotel after visiting seaworld, on the third day, there was an infestation of somekind of bugs next to the bed. i called the front desk and the clerk brought me a key to a room 2 doors down from me. the next night after returning from my outings the cable/tv was not working in the new room. two days later i discovered that the cable had been disconnected and the hotel had not sent anyone to fix the problem. after numerous calls and discussions with different front desk clerks, the tv wasn't operational for 4 days. the last night there i had to loosely attach it myself. in the initial room that i had, i had a safe. in the new room i did no have a safe, and had to take all my valuables with me everyday including my laptop. it appeared not to be a secure hotel with other guests looking into other rooms through the windows and maids leaving windows open, even though the screens were closed.
We had an over all good experience at the Ramada poway. All seemed friendly the hotel was older then I expected and because the rooms were smoke free people above our room were always outside smoking and flicking there ashes on the ground in front of our room, and most of the staff smoked. Outside of that real good time.
I had a very satisfying experience, from the moment I registered to the time we left. Everyone was very helpful and cooperative. We will positively use this motel again when we visit San Diego.
Nice Staff, showers were nice and hot if you wanted. Clean. Property is starting to show its age a bit, but well maintained nonetheless. Quiet location.
We stayed at the Poway CA Ramada for two weeks. The service was excellent, the place was clean, the continental breakfast was exceptional and we were fully pleased with our stay there. We would definately stay there again if we are in the Poway area.
This was my first visit to San Diego to spend the holidays with my daughter. I was lucky that the hotel was conveniently located in the mountains of Poway which is between the city of San Diego (15 mins) and Ramona (20 mins) --- where my daughter lives and attends school. The location looked like an affluent and safe community with many restaurants (Japanese, Chinese, American, Italian, etc.), strip malls (Walmart, CVS, etc.), and gas stations along Poway Road. The room was clean and had no foul odors. The TV comes with free specialty channels like HBO, Discovery, Family Channel, etc. and there is free wireless Internet. The bed was quite comfortable and did not have a single sleepless night even on the first night coming from the Eastern time zone. There was room service everyday and the outside of the hotel was always being maintained for the whole time I was there. The pool was small but we did not get to use it since the weather was cool during my visit. The free breakfast at reception had many selections like boiled eggs, bacon, make-your-own waffles, assorted bread, assorted cereals, yogurt and more, with a TV and free Internet/computer/printer while you have your meal. The front desk is open 24-hours. The counter person changed 4 times and I met all 4 of them, and they were all friendly. The only con I can point out was that the hotel showed its age: like the bathroom counter, sink, drain, shower head, and tiles all looked dated --- or maybe I just got used to staying at fairly new facilities. I stayed in this hotel for 1 week and had no complaints. I highly recommend it for the great value for the money.
The hotel was very comfortable and clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We were there for a wedding and had 4 rooms. We found no complaints and would stay here again.
A wonderful place to stay.. Very Nice rooms, quiet, and relaxing and easy to get to... would stay again... Its a great place to stay on a budget...
The rooms are decent, the location is good if you want to get away from the city but not have a long drive, and you are also close to Del Mar and other beaches. The breakfast has cereal, belgaian waffles, yogurt, etc! it was excellent! The staff is also superfriendly and very helpful.
We were not given a room as we requested. We needed 2 beds and got one bed with a fold out which was like spleeping on a bed of nails. They said they could not guarantee reservations made through this website????? What's the point then?
Generally a well run hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Good value for the money. Only real complaint was location as hotel is over an 1/2 hour drive to downtown San Diego. This causes logistical problems when planning sightseeing trips, dinners, ect.
When we (our family of 5 and my 81-year-old mother) arrived back at the hotel after our family reunion, my mother's electronic key didn't work. The staff could not get the door open no one had any idea how to solve the problem. My mother's medication was in her room. I finally called an all night locksmith. At 3:00 a.m., after 2 hours of drilling, they got the lock off the door. Apparently this isn't the first time they've had this kind of problem.
