got serious dysentery after 3 days and had to come home early by 3 days. hotel would not refund the days no used and the number I called which I thought was hotels.com was expedia who said they would research refund and get back to me in 72 hours. that was 5 days ago?????????
The resort was beautiful and very spacious. The shuttles made it easy to get to different parts of the resort. The adults only pools and beach were nice.
I'm not one to usually complain, but the service was overall slow and just terrible, except for maybe 3 people. Half of the staff was rude to us for no reason and the other half hit on me. Also, on our first day of arrival, we sat at the Snack bar by Ambar 1 pool and waited over an hour before we realized the waiter still hadn't put our food order into the system. We left to go to buffet and were not allowed in because my swim suit strap was showing. I talked to several employees and they said try again, I'll be allowed in and to try the other buffet. We went to the other buffet. Still they did not let me in. I starved on my first day after flying for several hours. Our room was not clean upon arrival either. My friend called the front desk to complain. A few days later they brought us an uncorked opened bottle of wine 2/3 full to our room to make up for it. Shady? Later in the week, someone broke in our room and we came back to find our door was left wide open. Management did not seem to care and never followed up like they had promised. Our mini bar/fridge was never stocked daily. Food was overall really really bad except for 1 French restaurant. I lost weight. Room service never showed up on 3 occasions, even when we just asked for bottled water. I was also denied water several times at the pool bars, even though I always got there 10 minutes before closing, they always closed earlier and employees were still there cleaning up and still would never give me any water. It was unbelievable.
We loved the location and the staff! Edward and everyone at the front desk were 1000% helpful and EVERYONE said Hola and smiled at us. We liked the all inclusive and the ease of getting excursions since we are not huge on laying by the pool, although if that's your thing, you will LOVE it. We really liked that there were no children in our part of the resort. The transportation around this HUGE city of a resort was good and easily accessed.
It got a bit boring eating breakfast at the same place and at least in Ambar, we only saw one restaurant that opened really early for breakfast. And if you wonder why we even cared about an early breakfast, then let me encourage you to NOT MISS the sunrise!!!
