The proximity to La Tech campus. We were visiting the campus for a day.
They are doing upgrades/renovations which look good but they aren't patching the areas where they are moving the fixtures correctly. There's a hole in the bathroom and in the actual room where the Sheetrock was just stuck back and not fixed. No coffee pot!
Lowest price in town
There was a very old musty smell in the room. The bed spread had a spot of detergent on it. There were cobwebs all over the top of the window. The temperature of the water in the shower would vary randomly from luke warm to cool to nearly scalding hot.
The room was nice and comfortable. I loved the location, it seemed to be right in the middle of everything I needed to get to.
There were roaches - small ones in the room.
Nice room with lots of amenities
The neighborhood was a bit sketchy, but... Also, thought price for my dogs was included but obviously not.
I rented a room at this location the last weekend in August. My wife and I checked in, and were not impressed with the quality of the room--but understood for $**, you get what you pay for. We left for a few hours to go to a college football game, and when we returned later that evening, we discovered the air conditioning was OUT. In August. In Louisiana. We called the front desk and were told that the maintenance man on call wouldn't be available until tomorrow morning, and since the hotel was completely booked, to just deal with it (I was told later that there WAS supposed to be a 24-hr on-call maintenance man). After a sleepless night spent sweating, I went to check out the next morning and informed the front desk clerk of the situation. His reply as he handed me a bill for the FULL amount of the room was ''Well....sorry about that''. I told him I shouldn't have to pay for a room with no A/C in the middle of August, and was informed the best he could do was take off 10%. I then corresponded with ABV's Guest Relations and Property Owners, who assured me that I would receive a full refund. To date, I have not received any credit to my credit card after being repeatedly assured that the refund would show up ''in a day or so''. I strongly urge ANY prospective customers to look elsewhere before giving any of your money to this Mickey Mouse outfit, and I IMPLORE online travel website to remove this dive from your list of otherwise reputable hotels.
This is not the hotel I thought I was getting, at least no according to the description on their own web site. This used to be a Best Western and I can see why they removed their name. The staff could have cared less if you stayed there or not. The area was not the best even though there is a Pizza Hut next door (only redeeming quality). The rooms were okay and the air conditioner worked. But I was really disappointed with the staff. If you didn't have to pay the regular rate I guess it was okay for the price, but I don't think we will stay there again.
