Nothing special. Not worth the cost. Just average.
Pardon the length of the review; however I would like to be as thorough as possible. If you’re staying in this hotel or are planning to stay in the near future, I recommend you completely read this review to forewarn you of several issues and things you can take advantage of. The day I arrived I was excited to get to the hotel since I had been in airports since 3am without the adjustment to Utah time. I arrived early at around 9am to the hotel. The valet was on one side but the door to the lobby was closed and we had to walk around to a small entrance of a restaurant. I was never made aware that the lobby was under renovations. That alone would have probably made me go to the Grand America in comparison to what I spent. Regardless, I made a commitment to stay since I had read good reviews on TripAdvisor. First, I’ll start with what I did like. -The rooms are newly-renovated. A lot, if not all, of the furniture is new. It has a modern look to it. I took pictures and put them up. Often times the pictures posted online look nothing like the rooms but thankfully this is not the case. The room looked great. -The bed was very clean and extremely comfortable, I slept like a baby. -The décor of as little as we saw of the hotel was nice. It really was too bad we didn’t get to see the lobby. -I picked my stay at a very fair price. Now I will share what I did not like. These where the deal breakers. -Paper thin doors (The doors to the room and from the restroom to the room are extremely thin or hollow which makes it so you can hear people down the hall. So for all you light sleepers that is a deal breaker.) This kept me up several nights. -No extractor in restroom (Which I was surprised.) -No lock on restroom (Which I was even more surprised.) This is an issue when you’re staying with someone. -The room was really, really small (I saw the sq ft on the website but it seemed to be a lot smaller.) -As previously mentioned, the hotel is under renovation (Plan on having to ...
Great hotel and great location. Spotless and a wonderful restaurant.
Pros were that the hotel was very clean and had very friendly staff. The beds were also very comfortable. This hotel was beautiful and very well kept. The breakfast at the restaurant was excellent as well. I also thought it was nice that they had an hour available where they offered appetizers from the restaurant and shoulder massages. Cons are that you are required to valet park your car which is $17 dollars a day. You just call a number and they will bring your car around front at any time of the day but I sort of felt obligated to tip the valet every time they brought the car. Also they had a fridge and mini bar snacks in the room but everything was an extra cost and the cheapest thing was around $3.00. Also they do have free internet but you have to sign up for a online loyalty club and enter an e-mail, home address, etc. I would stay there again if a got a good deal.
Lots of amenities, non of them included in the considerable price of your stay.
I took my daughters to confrence for the weekend and got a deal at the Monaco. We loved the hotel, and proximity to everything was great. The only negative I can think of was the parking. They try to make you pay $17 a day for vallet parking and tell you public parking will cost $20 a day. Well we did't do it, and the parking garage under the hotel was only $5 for the whole weekend. Other that that everything was great and we will stay there again provided we can get the same deal.
We were totally surprised by the fact that these hotels have a subtle theme for each hotel within the Klimpton chain. This was a beautifully decorated, refreshingly colorful in a nice adult way. Attached to restaurant voted best in Salt Lake City 2010. Loved it.
As we completed the registration process at the front desk, my boyfriend looked at me with surprise, when I asked 'do you have any fish?' His expression did not change when the receptionist answered 'Sure, we'll bring one right up!' We went to unpack, and a few minutes later our temporary pet goldfish arrived. We named him George. The Monaco has a lighthearted fun feel to it, that in no way diminishes it's professionalism or adherence to quality. The restaurant 'Bambara' delighted us with one of the best meals we've ever had. From the food, to the interesting decor, to the staff who wear name tags admitting their 'guilty pleasures,' we enjoyed everything about the Monaco and smiled through our entire stay!
Great facility and wonderful staff. Service is always exceptional at this hotel. We've stayed there many times and have never been disappointed.
This is a lovely bulding and property. The room was a corner room and had everything we needed furnishing, good useful furniture and an outlet/charging station on the desk. The beds were great and very comfy. Mini-bar has no alcohol, but can order from restaurant. Valet service was exceptional! Worth every penny of parking fees. We came back late after an all-day show and were promptly brought our room service order from the amazing Bambara restaurant downstairs and it was very fresh and delicious. Close to Mormon Temple, shopping mall, and gorgeous views of the mountains out of our windows. Would absolutely stay here again!
We stayed at the Hotel Monoco because a local friend recommended it. The location is excellent if you're looking for downtown SLC and very easy to get in and out of town. The staff was excellent and made us feel special. We stayed in a suite and loved the extra room it gave us. If you're looking for something special in a style different than the hotel this one's for you.
I've stayed here before and loved it, thought I would pay extra this time for a suite. Found it to be very disapointing and not worth it. The young man at the front desk was a snob too. The ONLY option for parking is to valet at $15 a day.
My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Monaco for a night for my birthday and the room we were put it was really small, which I beleive was a suite, but could be wrong. It had a queen sized bed which filled nearly the entire room and the bathroom was litterally a foot and a half away from my side of the bed, making the toilet about 3 feet away. It just felt awkward. The room decor was eccentric but worn out and seemed like it had been overly used and not touched up for years. The bathrooms in the lobby were messy and out of toilet paper, which was promptly cleaned after I informed them about it. When we went to the bar they seemed very understaffed and while eating the appetizers and a few drinks it litterally took us 20 minutes to get someone to give us the bill so we could dine in the restraunt. The food was exceptional and the drinks were very good. This was probably the only good thing about it. It was a let down becasue we had always wanted to check out the hotel becasue of its reputation. I probably wouldn't stay here again unless it was a business function, but definately wouldn't on leisure or a romantic getaway.
