Person running the front desk was a very cool guy and the shower was great.
The price was really high for what I got.Good budget motel in the heart of SF. neighborhood a little dodgy. Great value for money if less than---- bucks but at--- was disappointed. Dang Beyonce and Jay z concert.
Location is convenience but is safeness too much homeless on the street.
If you want to stay at the hotel where the manger is unfriendly, unclean and noisily room that is your best choose.

Upon checking in, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. They were wonderful and engaging, even when they misplaced our key. The continental breakfast offered a variety of choices. We chose this hotel because we needed something at the last minutes and it got some good reviews. The shared bathrooms and bath areas are not much of an inconvenience at all. The continental breakfast was great. Lots of good options there. We had only booked one night, but we were so impressed with this location that we decided to stay another night. The neighborhood was relatively quiet, but you should expect some noise being so close to 6th Street.
There was a continental breakfast offered and the price was decent compared to other hotels in the area.
The hotel was not in a good location.

Price is what guided me to take a chance on this hotel.
The hotel is under renovation, which was not a disturbance. Currently (May 2014) there is still a great deal of 'cleaning up the neighborhood' going on. It is a question about time before this is a nice street, too. A bit sketchy people outside. To deal with the host was very easy. A really nice personality, friendly and helpful. Bathrooms are shared in hallway, but there is a sink in the room. I think this will be a really great place to stay in a year, or so, once renovations are completed. It is old style. I ended up canceling a stay here the following week due to the neighborhood - a friend wouldn't come to visit me otherwise. I never felt unsafe myself. For a budget traveler and OK with a run down neighborhood in the fixing-up-mode I'd recommend this hotel.
Location is excellent, and the owners were extremely helpful. Can't beat the price!
Previous reviews. This is not a 5-star hotel, and it is not attempting to be one. The rooms are small and basic, with a bed, a sink, a closet, and a TV. If you're coming to San Francisco to experience the city and don't intend to spend the majority of your day in your room, why would you need more? Previous reviews said it was not in a safe area, which did not seem to be the case. I, the female of this couple, was alone for five days before being joined by my boyfriend, and here is what a single woman has to say about the neighborhood: it is true that homeless people hang out in the vicinity, but I never felt endangered by anyone around. It was my general impression that the homeless and the business people are part of the cityscape around Market St, which also happens to be a highly transited area, so it all makes sense. All that being said, this is obviously a hot...

Cheap. Cheap and close to public transit in downtown. 2 blocks from the subway.
The room was pretty much empty, and the bed wasn't too comfortable... but it's a youth hostel, so we expected that. I just wanted to mention it, so people know before choosing this place.
The windows of share bathroom and shower room were broken, so it's cold at night and smoke of tobacco or weed comes into the floor of the hotel. I went back to the hotel before sun set and did not go outside because the environment is dangerous.I never go and stay there!!!!

We liked the location, the young and extremely helpfull staff. Public busses just round the corner. The teenagers liked the coffee machine in the lobby most.
We did have problems to find a park space near the hotel. It seems that finding free parking space is a big issue in SF anyway. Our room faced the street and it was quite noisy. We appreciated to have our privat bath room. Some rooms have shared bath rooms.
The free coffee was great.Great location and very friendly staff.

The room was small and we did not have enough space to sit on the floor. The bathroom and restroom were public and you need to go to the end of each floor to use them, it means that each room does not have it`s own bathroom and restroom. You need to have your own shampoo. If you want to put your luggages outside the room on the check out day, you need to pay for 5$ so that they keep them for you. Although it has wireless which is useful and also the price is so cheap if you do not want to pay too much.
It is so close to everything and the management was very reassuring as we were on the edge of a questionable neighborhood; price was amazing!!

The location was terrible area. It was a bad neighborhood. There was only one person checking people in.I would not recommend it.
It's location was in the worst neighborhoods ever. Homeless people sleeping & hanging out in front 24 hrs. a day. People getting arrested out front daily. Tiny room, bed, no closet or water pressure in shower. I would sleep in my car before ever staying tNever staying there again & have to question why you would ever book any of us in an unsafe place like that

Smelled bad and was in a pretty seedy area
staff was helpful-but could only provide basic service. great to have continental breakfast bc there is nothing around there to jump over to eat -except one diner-but very very basic -and they seemed overwhelmed with amount of ppl using breakfast feature...one of the main things i look for when booking...clean big room felt safe
you have to pay extra for everything --went to go see if could print out boarding passes..the computer cost $5 for use....finally the front desk offered to do it nothing around to eat ...far away from bart station...buses are close though...had to 7-8 to union square...to civic center ..just inconvenient to fun activities...too many ppl and not enough food or variety in morn...
