It is, potentially, a lovely hotel. Excellent location, gorgeous mountain stream at the back of the hotel, lovely marble lobby and a gated, private parking lot.
We stayed at this hotel two years ago in the exact same room and everything we complained about then, is still broken. The safe in the room still doesn't work. The shower leaks all over the floor. The bathroom is covered in black mildew and looks disgusting. The heating was sporadic - the radiator in the bathroom only worked the second night and never came on again and the wall-heating blew cold air, so we had to switch it off. The room was freezing cold. Having nowhere to put one's valuables is extremely frustrating and since the front desk is manned by a different person everytime I am in the lobby, I would not want to use the hotel safe. In our entire stay, we were given one tiny little bar of soap that had to be transported from the wash-basin to the shower to the bidet. There were no paper tissues in the room and no plastic laundry bags. The hotel is obviously cost-cutting but if it really wishes to cut real costs, they only need one woman to serve breakfast. Currently, there are two women who just stand talking, loudly, all through breakfast and ignore the guests. In fact, they talk so loudly, it is really annoying. Lastly, when we arrived to check-in, the girl at the desk was busy talking to a friend and completely ignored us until I asked whether we could check-in - at which point, they finally finished their conversation, which took a further minute, and only then were we dealt with.
The hotel is next to a busy road causing noice.
The room was huge. We had 4 windows with one side of the room overlooking the mountain stream, which was really pretty. The off-street parking was a real boon as it is impossible to park in Sant Julia. The breakfast, which was included in the price, was superb.
The room was never mopped properly as there seemed to be copious strands of black hair just about everywhere on the white tiled floors (probably the maid was shedding!) The shower caused a flood everytime it was used and we had to ask for 4 extra towels each day to contain the mess (the staff never complained about this). The safe in the room was broken and although we asked for it to be fixed, no-one even came to look at it. This was a real nuisance as we had to cart passports and other valuables around with us every day.
Central to the Town and the Routes in and out.
Reception staff either unhelpfull or poorly trained, on asking the price of a phone call from Hotel to UK they could not tell me and could not find out. There was a Bar in the Hotel that was never open, on asking at Reception I was just showed the contents of a Fridge behind Reception. No Tea Making facilities in the Rooms. I found all this very poor for a Four Star Hotel.
it was very relaxed being in the hotel and the staff were very helpful
