We picked this hotel because of the location, which is the best thing about this hotel. The room and hallways smelled bad. The king bed wobbled if your partner moved. The in-room fan/air conditioner was noisy, and it ran the entire weekend . I had to put it at 69/70 and it might have cooled to about 78 at night. The ceiling in the shower had an area that was recently fixed very poorly. It looked like someone slapped some kind of plaster over a bad area. It was easy to see the bathroom was updated at one point and the pipes coming out of the walls were rusty and moldy.
We loved the location of the hotel - easy walk to the shopping and dining area. We didn't realize that the road was directly in front of the hotel. There is a lot of road noise when sitting on the balcony. The free internet was VERY slow.
The location is the key about this hotel . . . right on Lido Beach, ocean front, and just a couple of blocks away from excellent shopping, dining, and other fun activities. The staff are friendly and very helpful--really went out of their way to help us with a couple of items. While the building is a bit older, its still in good shape. I'll trade the location, service, and price, for the age of the building anytime! Restaurant on-site was great--excellent buffett and beautiful ocean-views for sunset dinner! It's also easy access to lots of different activities in Sarasota and easy drive to the airport. I'll be staying again in the future next time I return to Sarasota!!!
The shower/tub was covered over with a material and would move when you stood on it so that you were very unstable. When I complained to management, they had no response. Also, the walls were paper-thin and you could hear the guests in the next room. it was very unpleasant.
I was in a king room overlooking the gulf, great view. Room comfortable, not lavish. Bathroom getting old. Maid service excellent. No complimentary breakfast, missed that.
I first booked this hotel because I had very good experiences with holiday inn Nationwide but when I arrived to holiday inn lido beach sensation was different, clerk was upset about out late check out then we realized that the top of the roof restaurant with a very nice view was closed at 8 pm dinner time we called ' the gost restaurant ' because no matter what time was nobody was there , in the morning we went to the beach and umbrella was not provided , even the website announced that they provide chairs, umbrella and towels for the beach , room was horrible , was never cleaned we use to look under the bed to see if we forgot something before leave and we found some bottles of soda , whiskey , feathers from ? , so and so so we will never go back there again I will prefer in the future to spend the same amount of money in a better hotel
Everything in this hotel was great....just the bathroom, expecially the toilet bowl needs to be bleach.
At the time of check in the front desk staff seemed a little rude. We called down later for additional blankets waited 30-45 mins with no delivery of them. My son called when it seemed to be a while and no knock. The front desk said she simply did not send anyone up to our room yet. As if it was not a big deal and she would do it whenever she felt like it. He then went down to the front desk himself to pick up the blankets and the lady was pretty rude. Walked away from him not saying if she was going to get him what he needed or not. Meanwhile another employee walked up to see if he had been helped and he honestly said he did not know if was being helped. We did in the end receive our requested blankets but not without a little frustration or rudeness. the room was however in good condition and the pillows and bed comfortable.
enjoyed the beach every day. i slept good every night, hotel was very quiet.
We stay here when ever we come to Lido Beach. It's a great place to stay if you're into allot of rest. Stay on the Gulf side. It worth the extra money.
My wife and I stayed for four nights the second week of April. The staff at this hotel was exceptional. From the front desk to the cleaning ladies and the restaurant staff, everyone we had contact with went above and beyond to make our stay as carefree and relaxing as possible. This is a wonderful place to unwind and the view of Lido Beach and the Gulf are breath taking. We are already planning a return trip this fall.
No matter the room, you have a good view. The Gulf view needs no reason. However, the other side has some nice views of the city and the waterway. One need only cross the road to enter the beach (not hard even with small children, which we have) and steps away from St. Armands. The beds are entirely too soft (you sink in the middle) but the rooms are just what you would expect. It is very pricey, but then so are all the hotels in this immediate area. If you can, come in the middle of the week and save some money.
Restaurant on site and on the bus route which made it easy to travel to restaurants and stores right across from the beach
Right across the street from the gulf, good value for cost, not far from shops and stores, nice quality pool, very accommodating and pleasant staff. Oh and the penthouse was BAAAALLLIN' Would certainly stay here again.
Fitness center is very limited (Cardio only, no weights) and equipment is outdated. Water cooler and towel supply were always depleted. Service in both restaurants is very very slow without acknowledgement. Food is pricy for the selection and quality. ''Kids eat free'' is only for ordering off of the very limited kids menu. Property is close to St. Armands Circle, which is nice, however the beach is accross a busy street and view was usually blocked by travel trailers parked alongside. Pool is small and seating is not ample for this size hotel. We needed our room vacuumed and called to the front desk as well as left a note - nothing was done. There was also construction going on behind the hotel which was not noted on online travel website or the hotel's website. Very loud, very early!
Hotel was okay but not great. I expected more from this chain. The bathroom was very small with no fan, only a light. Bathroom had a very small area for tolietries. The hairdryer only works if you hold the button at all times. The complimentary shampoo and soap were poor quality but adequate. Coffee was lousy. Towels were clean but thin. The shower preasure was terrible. If you like a good shower forget this. The TV did not work properly. Room was tight, could bearly get by the bed. On a brighter note, the bed was nice and comfortable and the view was spectacular. Next time we will try a different location
Stayed for a business trip and was provided an executive size room on the top floor which was good size with nice ammenities and view except, the AC did not work. Called the front desk and was told I could come down to get another room key. Mind you I have 3 bags to carry down to the front desk. When I asked if a new key for the room they were moving me to could be delivered she acted put out. I was moved to probably one of their smallest rooms next to the exit on a lower floor (meanwhile maintenance returns to the room to tell me there is availability next door). The bellman that delivered the key did not speak english and left before I could ask for assistance to move my bags to the second floor. Didn't want to push this since I was only staying one night and finally had AC at 9PM. By the time this was all taken care of I missed the cutoff for ordering from room service. I will give credit to room service because they made accomodations to make me a salad in a pinch and were very friendly. I am also planning to call corporate office to make them aware of performance at this location. Beautiful setting but hotel personnel need to improve customer service and performance.
We checked in and barley understood the clerk, The food was horrible and the service was wrse and nobody would do anything about it. The beach stank of fish and there was seaweed all over the place
very small room, not even a microwave in room. Had to call room service to clean our room at 3pm, when showed she was very rud. Our room was suppose to be a bay view but we had a parking lot view, when I complained they ask for $* extra to upgrdae. The dining room was great, pool area was fantastic for kids.
The Hotel Staff @night were the worst anyone could find anywhere, not helpful at all, and very rude, the hotel also had an awful odor the first two days even the room we were in and the elevator stunk!!!, could not even use the room phones, and could not get any answers from the horrible hotel staff, they did not want to do anything for us, and our room was already paid for in full for 4 days!!!!
