The 10 best hotels in Siesta Key

Discover the top hotels in Siesta Key handpicked by local expert Nick Dauk.
Nick Dauk
December 6, 2023

Siesta Key is lauded even by locals who’ve strolled its soft quartz sand summer after summer. The surrounding keys are plenty perfect in their own right, but there’s something special about not only Siesta Beach, but also the many overnight inns lining the Gulf waters. The best hotels in Siesta Key capture the mood effortlessly. It's an atmosphere somewhere between lively and lazy, where you’re free to spend hours celebrating or snoozing under the sun without shame. The name of the key itself sets the pace for your vacation, and the area hotels can accommodate a dreamy siesta any time of the day or night. What I love about Siesta Key’s properties is that you’ve got instant access to one of the top beaches on Florida’s Gulf Coast without having to empty your wallet. Bring your family, friends, or just whatever you need for well-deserved me-time and enjoy the sunsets from the best hotels in Siesta Key.

1.

Tropical Beach Resorts

Address:

6717 Sara Sea Circle

Price:

$160-477/night

Tropical Beach Resorts encourages you to “pick your paradise,” which really makes you stop and think about what your ideal Siesta Key vacation should look, sound, and feel like. Free lemonade and popcorn in the welcome center are just as salty and sweet as the cool Gulf breeze flowing from the beach at the end of the road.
You’re sure to feel perfectly at home in your preferred suite, with a fully-equipped kitchen and whirlpool-jetted bathtub – grab a book or film from the hotel’s book exchange and DVD library and settle in. Cornhole boards, a shuffleboard court, and a heated swimming pool are always at the ready, but Tropical Beach Resort takes no offense if you leave the property. In fact, they want to help send you on your way by offering bicycle, kayak, and paddleboard rentals to get you moving.

2.

The Residences on Siesta Key Beach

Address:

915 Seaside Drive

Price:

$487-1494/night

Hyatt Residence Club sets the bar high for luxury hotels in Siesta Key Beach. You’d better believe that the hotel’s suites don’t skimp on the lavish amenities. Multi-head rain showers and oversized jetted bathtubs are just the beginning.
Rent a PlayStation; book a massage; have a chef prepare an exquisite course to dine on in your room or at your poolside cabana – the richness you want out of vacation is always within reach. And yet, what makes Hyatt Residence Club so ideal in my opinion is that it trades an indulgence in opulence for more modest digs.
The hotel is calm, cool, and collected, despite its luxe setting on Siesta Key Beach. As your flip-flops slap along the waterfront pool deck or thud across the wooden boardwalk leading to the shoreline, you’ll wish every hotel you stay in could have such perfect beach access.

3.

Siesta Key Beach Resort and Suites

Address:

5311 Ocean Boulevard

Price:

$196-651/night

One of the more unique hotels in Siesta Key, this is the kind of place where you might find more locals than visitors in the off-season. That’s no slight on their accommodations: rooms ranging from two-bedroom suites to poolside studios to bunk rooms with kitchenettes.
The hot tub, resort-style pool, bike rentals, and poolside tiki huts are key amenities, though Siesta Key Beach Resort and Suites has recently revealed their trump card: The Big Tiki Lounge. The hotel is right in the heart of Siesta Key Village, one block from the beach, making The Big Tiki Lounge one of my favorite watering holes.
Live music, special events, and a shady bar bring the crowds. The Porthole Grille food truck is parked right outside, meaning the only time you’ll have to step into the sun is when picking up your basket of fries and the catch of the day.

4.

The Inn on Siesta Key

Address:

515 Beach Road

Price:

$320-1099/night

Some beaches have mansions made of steel – Siesta Key has castles made of sand. Whether or not you’re visiting for the Siesta Key Crystal Classic Sand Sculpting Festival, you’ll want to look into a few nights at The Inn on Siesta Key. It’s close to all the action.
Granted, you’ll have to cross the street, but the hotel is happy to hook you up with a complimentary beach wagon stuffed with toys, a cooler, umbrellas, chairs, and games that you can wheel to the waterside. If you need a break from the sand, you’ll be in your element in a suite, no matter which element that is.
The Cottage’s stone fireplace is an excellent place to cuddle up with a partner in the cooler winter months, while the warm evening breeze will drift through The Haven’s open-air balcony, reminding you why you should use every PTO day available.

5.

Comfort Suites Sarasota-Siesta Key

Address:

5690 Honore Avenue

Price:

$65-338/night

Comfort Suites is located six miles inland from Siesta Key. That shouldn’t deter you from booking a room, though. Take it from someone who’s spent plenty of time in nearby Venice: a visit to Siesta Key is worth the drive from any hotel in the vicinity.
You can count it amongst the best hotels near the area. Right off Interstate-75, you can get snuggly in a king or queen suite within minutes of pulling off of the highway. Rest and recharge with a free full breakfast, then tackle the fifteen-minute drive to the beach with no trouble at all.
When the shoreline starts filling with dozens upon dozens of beach chairs, you’ll be thankful you can retreat back to the sun deck of Comfort Suites, where you won’t have to share the rays with nearly as many sun-seekers.

6.

Turtle Beach Resort

Address:

9049 Midnight Pass Road

Price:

$280-1769/night

Turtle Beach Resort is a great example of a hotel that can show you how lovely this key is away from the beach. Set on Little Sarasota Bay, it’s one of the few places where you can wake up to the sunrise over the water.
And to those who choose bayside over beachside go the spoils. Your cottage or suite has an enclosed patio with a hammock and hot tub that’s all yours to use in private. Turtle Beach is a three-minute walk around the Blind Pass, and yes, you can see the sea turtles there, one of my must-sees!
But there’s no need to venture far from the resort for wildlife viewing: manatees, dolphins, and pelicans all make appearances along the bay. If you’re not getting as close as you’d like, arrange a kayak tour from the resort’s private dock and paddle alongside Siesta Key’s original locals.

7.

Hibiscus Suites - Gateway to Siesta Key

Address:

1735 Stickney Point Road

Price:

$149-314/night

Less than a mile is all that stands between getting your sandals from Hibiscus Suites to Crescent Beach. Just over the Stickney Point Bascule Bridge from Siesta Key, Hibiscus Suites checks all the boxes when it comes to vacation must-haves: heated outdoor pool, fluffy pillow top mattresses, and even shared laundry facilities, so you won’t have to bring the sand back home with you.
In my opinion, one of the underrated perks of Hibiscus Suites is the walk to the beach itself. Some resorts have closer beach access, but that means being farther away from everything else. Walk down to Siesta Key from your suite and you’ll pass a handful of seafood shacks that’ll almost certainly delay your arrival to the beach. Personally, it’s Daiquiri Deck’s wall of frozen cocktails that keeps me under a roof rather than the blue sky, but to each their own.

8.

Tropical Breeze Resort

Address:

140 Columbus Boulevard

Price:

$252-831/night

No, this isn’t deja vu: Tropical Breeze Resort is another of the boutique hotels in Siesta Key that have TBR initials. Located in Siesta Key Village, Tropical Breeze Resort is where you want to stay if you’re looking for the quintessential Siesta Key experience. It’s both pet- and family-friendly, offering everyone from newlyweds to good friends a relaxed place to lay their heads.
Once outside your suite, the free shuttle service will whisk you around the village and to the beach. Be sure to grab the complimentary beach chairs before you head out, though. Grocery delivery is available if you’d like to make the most of your fully-equipped kitchen, but I recommend asking the golf cart shuttle to drop you at The Old Salty Sea Dog.
Conch fritters, groupe nuggets, and a fully-loaded Salty Dog will leave you satisfied and smiling as you make your way to the pier for Siesta Key’s iconic sunset.

9.

Siesta Key Palms Resort

Address:

1800 Stickney Point Road

Price:

$163-501/night

Take the old-school vibes of a retro Florida vacation, then throw in a renovation that brings comforts and conveniences into the 21st-century, and you’ll have Siesta Key Palms Resort. It’s another off-key property, though once again it’s an easy walk across Stickney Point Bridge.
You’ll likely have a room with a private garden courtyard, but if you like small-talk, get chatty in the “chill sections,” where guests congregate around tiki torches, hanging beds, fire pits, and two outdoor pools. The “Old-Florida” feel is retained in the easy-going staff and unfussy accommodations.
This isn’t your grandparent’s boring winter home, though. A yoga and activity deck, game room, and in-room massages color the vibes with contemporary hues that make Siesta Key Palms Resort a great choice for both families looking for old-school Florida vacation vibes and wilder crowds hoping to maximize their fun in the sun.

10.

Captiva Beach Resort

Address:

6772 Sara Sea Circle

Price:

$76-547/night

Captiva Beach Resorts proves that fancy hotels in Siesta Key can be buttoned up where it counts and hang loose where it matters. This beach-adjacent resort held a Superior Small Lodging White Glove Award for 20 years, which means they’ve spent two decades dedicated to excellence in cleanliness.
You shouldn’t hesitate to explore the manicured grounds and tropical gardens – in fact I urge you to do so. The swimming pool, shuffleboard court, and BBQ area invite you to spend hours under the South Florida sun. Like so many of the best hotels in Siesta Key, Captiva Beach Resort totally understands that you probably didn’t pack a beach chair in your luggage.
These sand-sitters and a variety of beach toys are available for guests to use. Borrow whatever you need to make your sandcastle building as smooth as possible, then boogie back to your suite to whip up lunch in the kitchen.
