This palatial South Lake Tahoe vacation home has a bit of Southern flair and luxurious touches throughout, and with three bedrooms, it's a great choice for couples traveling together. Strolling up the stone walkway, you can just imagine later relaxing on the veranda with a mint julep, or perhaps drinking morning coffee on the upstairs deck. Before you even enter, this house just makes an incredible impression!
Once inside the cozy yet spacious living area, you'll notice tall, slanted ceilings, recessed lighting, and the occasional chandelier. There's a red brick gas fireplace, comfortable furniture, and lots of character throughout. Spend the evening snuggled into the leather couch watching a movie on one of the home's premium movie channels (Showtime, Encore, or The Movie Channel) on the wall-mounted flat screen TV with surround sound. This large open space also includes a dining area with seating for eight. Off the living room there is a very nice backyard deck with cushioned seating, making it an ideal place for relaxing at the end of the day, or even a prime spot for an outdoor dinner on cool, clear evenings.
The country-style kitchen is light and bright with gleaming stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher, microwave, and coffee grinder. There's breakfast bar seating that doubles as extra counter space for meal preparation, so several guests can enjoy plenty of elbow room while fixing dinner together. Spend some time chopping vegetables, stirring sauces, and cooking pasta as a group while making plans for the next day. In nice weather, there's also a gas grill outside, so be sure to pick up some steaks while you're in town for a delicious meal later.
A downstairs bedroom has two queen beds, plush carpeting, and luxurious, colorful linens. This is the only bedroom on this floor and it has easy access to a downstairs full bathroom with a walk-in shower. But this is just not any walk-in shower -- this one is marble, as are the countertops and floors in this bathroom. Simply stunning!
The lower level also includes a laundry room with washer and dryer and a small mudroom with a closet. There's entry through the mudroom from outside, making it an ideal place to store hiking or ski gear.
Head up the stairs, and you will find two big bedrooms. The smaller of the two features a quilt-covered queen bed, decorative hanging tapestry, bedside table, reading lamp, and an antique dresser. Very cozy, but the real attraction of this room is the upstairs deck, accessed through stylish French doors. There's even a daybed out there, so you'll definitely want to sneak away during the afternoon for a quick nap in the fresh air. A pair of wicker rocking chairs are also on hand, so bring a friend to hang out with and talk while you look out over the front yard of the house. There's also WiFi throughout the home, so this may just turn into your favorite "outdoor office" where you can grab a few private minutes and check your email!
Down the hall, the master bedroom is a spa-like retreat in serene whites, creams, and blues, with a king sized bed, beautiful floral comforter, fluffy throw pillows, and antique bedside tables. A chandelier hangs from the ceiling and there's a romantic gas fireplace to keep you toasty at night. On the mantle, find a 42-inch flat screen TV with cable and an overstuffed chair nearby for late night TV watching. The upstairs adjoining bathroom has a jetted tub, walk-in shower, and a long vanity countertop with plenty of space. This bathroom is shared with the other upstairs guests, but has its own direct entrance from the master bedroom. With three bedrooms and two bathrooms, this home will sleep eight guests in comfort.
This Royal Palace in the Pines is located in a quiet, residential area of South Lake Tahoe. In winter, great skiing and snowboarding are practically next door at Heavenly Mountain Resort. A fifteen minute drive from the house will have you breezing down the slopes, taking a beginner lesson or just relaxing by the fire with hot cocoa at the Tamarack Lodge.
