The beautiful residence of the noble Leti family is located in the historic center of Spoleto. According to various sources, it seems that this was the first residence of the Leti family who arrived in Spoleto in 1500 but the family name became extinct at the beginning of the XIX century. due to a lack of male heirs. The Residence was built shortly after the medieval city walls were constructed (1292) using, in part, a pre existent Roman structure which you can still see walking along Via delle Felici. Over the centuries the building was under construction many times and in the XV and XVI century. It became an aristocratic style of building. It is during these years that the groin vaults which you can see on the ground floor and the current architectural details were built. In the XVII and XVIII century. the small building was enlarged thanks to the construction of the north wing and the beautiful garden that includes the two neoclassic facades. In these two facades we can still admire the architectural features of that time such as, pilaster strips, trabeations, bases and capitals that give balance to the architectural whole. In the northern wing of the garden there is also a very important fountain with a nymphaeum. Recent restoration has revealed an important architectural, environmental and historic heritage not to mention a garden that has been restored in classic Italian garden style. It is notable for containing many kinds of marble from different eras including a Sansi coat of arms. From the garden one can admire the beautiful view of Monteluco and some of Spoleto s most important monuments including the Rocca Albornoziana, and St. Peter s Church.
Our first night was in a very small room. The next four nights we upgraded for a nominal fee to a wonderful room across the courtyard from the main quarters. It was a great two-level larger room. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was good--especially for such a small hotel.
The hotel is run by a very friendly couple who put their heart and soul in renovating the place. Had a chat with the owner and i was told that the place was abondened prior to it being turned into the Palazzo Leti Residenza d'Epoca however two solid years of hard work has brought about the gem it is today. The Palazzo has a very homly atmosphere and the decor is of a high standard and is well maintained. A true home away from home.
Comfortable room, friendly owners and staff, spectacular views in a delightful Umbrian hill top town.
Our hosts were very kind and gracious - helping with our car, suggestions for travel, dinner reservations, etc. The room was beautiful and the views from the room and garden were very nice. The hotel was a very convenient point from which to explore Spoleto and much of Umbria.
The bed was a bit hard and the bed linens could be improved as well.
The freindliness of the owners and the fact that they spoke good English. Having breakfast on the terrace was a real treat
the atmosphere: the feeling of being welcome
Location very close to main historic sites. Excellent views from the room of the mountains. Small attractive garden and patio where you can have breakfast. Very attentive and helpful staff.
Breakfast was limited - mainly cakes and rolls although the quality was good.
Very kind and friendly people, stunning location
