The Days Inn Starkville, MS located in the midst of southern charm and state-of-the-art research and technology industry. The hotel is less than one mile from Mississippi State University. The Government rate is contingent upon showing Government identification and Work papers -Job Letter- from employer stating guest is in town on Government Business. This is to be shown upon arrival.
My cousin and I stayed here for four nights in April 2013 when visiting Mississippi State University. We regretted our choice as soon as we saw the room: it was disgusting. The floor was dirty, the bed linen was dirty, the towels in the bathroom were dirty, the bathroom was dirty, the fridge was dirty, the CEILING was dirty. We would have a really good day then come back here and instantly remember what a rubbish place we were staying in. Their cleaners clearly weren't doing their job properly; there were dead flies around the bathroom sink when we checked in, which showed they clearly weren't bothering to do anything but empty the bins, change the towels and make the beds. The bed linen was so disgusting I bought a blanket from an outlet in Columbia (about 30mins away) and used that instead of their quilt. Like the title states, the only good thing was breakfast. The staff at reception were also really friendly but it was clear that whoever manages this place doesn't care about keeping it clean.
This hotel was a good deal. Some issues with the showers, get instructions.
Days INN & Suites in Starkville is a great place to get-a-way. The staff is friendly, the rooms are comfy and clean, the location is convienent, and the price is right !!!! We originally were going to stay 2 nights but decided to extend our stay 1 night - we were even able to get the same room even thou they were laying new carpet. Would definately stay there again if I ever return to Mississippi and reccommend this hotel. It's $30 cheaper a night.
The hotel was just down the road from MSU and as my son was visiting for a recruiting camp, it was very convenient. Room needed a few minor tweaks but the beds were good and we slept well. Office personnel were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was minimal but price allowed me to go elsewhere for breakfast. Very nice supermarket across the way for picking up food items etc.
We were there for the 4th of July and pretty much everything else was booked. The room smelled like smoke despite being a non-smoking room, carpet was peeling away from the wall. The staff was very nice and helpful, though. It's fine as a last resort, but if something else is available for a similar price, take it.
Hotel was ok, very easy price wise. It was a busy weekend for a university town and so I was happy to find a low cost room.
We had a room with two queen size beds, one of them was damp. Both beds stunk! (smelled bad). There were not enough bath towels in the bathroom for bathing. Our children were very disappointed that the pool was closed at 10pm. **On a positive note; the breakfast that was offered the next morning had a good selection.
In the bath area, the faucet was not connected to the sink, the tub would not hold water and the bed comforter was stained and smelled. The smoke free room smelled of stale cigarette smoke.
good hotel every thing in working order
In advance, we booked two rooms for ourselves and another set of parents, all of whom were in Starkville to move our only children MSU. We knew that all hotels were at full capacity and felt lucky to secure two rooms. Our room had not one bar of soap on the vanity or bathtub, nor any liquid soap in the shower liquid soap and shampoo dispenser. Of course I discovered this while in the shower at 11:30pm, after moving furniture and freshman set up for two girls and one young man since 11:00 that morning. I reached for the hotel shampoo as a substitute, and there was none. My husband was in bed asleep. I called the front desk and was informed that there was soap in the lobby. I'm towel wrapped and wet from the shower. No apology was offered. Upon asking if I was supposed to come get the soap in the lobby, the front desk young man replied, I can't leave the lobby ma'am. Still no apology. I thanked him and hung up. We reserved room for our travel companions as a polite gesture for their sons send off to MSU. Upon checking on them, after my shower, I found them swatting at gnats, as they sip their wine. Our guests resorted to leaving once again to take care of the problem, stopped at the front desk to inform of the problem. The gentleman's reply at the front desk? I don't know why you have gnats in your room. Upon asking if there was some spray our guest could borrow to get rid of them, the gentleman employee of Days Inn replied, No, but here's a newspaper. You can hit them with it. Not service worthy of a return. Badly managed employee.
This hotel ran out of money before it finished is renovation. The landscaping is nonexistent and sidewalks are dangerous. There are marble counters stacked up in the lobby. Our room was fine but there was not a mini fridge or microwave. Breakfast was a joke. Room was not cleaned while we were there and the towels felt like a loofah. It is a great location for game day.
My in- laws came to visit me so they stayed in this hotel for 3 days. Entire their stay they enjoyed. Very friendly staff including Manager x . delicious breakfast, very clean pool. very nice and comfortable beds seems like they have put new beds in rooms.

very nice, clean and beautiful hotel. very friendly staff. Manager Mr.Harry is very helpful and business oriented. i enjoyed his hpspitality. i would recommend every one to stay here.
I would not ever stay at another Days Inn. It is sad that the Days Inn Corporation does not have any quality control standards in place in order to keep their hotel name in good standing. I do not recommend this hotel at all. Suggestion stay in Columbus or surrounding area and drive to Starkville before staying at this hotel. Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn seem to do a great job.
I stayed for 5 days in this hotel with my husband and kids. we really enjoyed our stay. Manager and staff is so great, helpful. we enjoyed larg pool.
I had requested a ground floor room as we were traveling with a elderly person who can not climb steps. When we arrived they did not have us on the ground floor but on the second floor. The staff did some rearranging and got us a ground floor room. The room was in front of the ice machine and made a lot of noise that it kept us up at night. Again the staff was able tomove us that morning into another room in a bettter location. The room was clean and a good quality for the price. We will be staying there again.
Upon our arrival, we found that our room smelled of urine. We attempted to cancel our reservation. The staff told us that we would be charged for the days and that they had no other rooms. The beds were very old and had significant wear. The baseboards were torn from the walls and water was leaking from the AC unit in to our room. I have stayed at hotels all over the US and have never stayed in one this disgusting. I will never stay at this hotel again and will think twice about booking a room at any Days Inn.
The room reeked of mildew. The next day, after we went somewhere else to stay, our clothes that had been in our suitcase in that room reeked of mildew! It was so bad we had to go buy new clothes! Also, the sofa in the room that we were told was a bed, was so disgusting it needed to be taken to the curb! We complained to staff when we left b/c we could not believe this room was over $100 per night! We were told a manager would call us. Three days later we have not heard from manager. Please go somewhere else, even if you have to travel a little further down the road.
This particular hotel was a LOT better when it was owned by Best Western. Now there is NO hot water. They have installed a ''scald guard'' system in the showers. The warmest the water got was maybe 70 degrees. Water in the sink would get very hot but not in shower. Also the coffee pot in the room was broke. It shocked my wife when she tried to turn it on. The button had been SUPER GLUED back on of all things.
We checked in and there were dirty towels in the bathroom. The tub drain was broke and the TV controller was broke. The toilet rocked on it's base. The room was not cleaned the next morning so when we returned at 10PM, I had to go to the office for towels. I had to prepay on the internet and had to pay again when I checked out since I didn't print out the receipt. The battle has just begun.
it was great the staff is great and nice it was so clean and the bed i just could take it home with me
