Beautiful, great character; fantastic hot buffet for breakfast
The pillows were way too thick. My neck was killing me by morning.
Great Area! Walkable to stores and restaurants. Classy.
Small room. Parking overnight is $10.
The bar in the lower lever was AWESOME and the hot breakfast
Arrived at 2:45pm and didn't get into my room until 3:25!!!
There was a hot breakfast buffet included with the stay. There was Starbucks coffee available in the room; Starbucks coffee and Tazo teas were available as well as in the lobby. Also, the hotel restaurant and bar was just downstairs from our room.
The room was much smaller than expected. The first bed was right next to the door. Also, we could hear doors or something banging almost all night. Lastly, the ice machine wasn't plugged in, for whatever reason.
Hotel was very clean and well taken care of.
Liked the hotel but the room was pretty small. Otherwise it was fine
Old and very tired. My bathroom was very very small, etc.
good location and nice bar and breakfast
Rooms could use some updating and the elevators are way past their prime
Lobby had a funny musty smell, and was a bit dark and cold (not the temperature bu the ambiance).
located in good location which is near by to my office
The building of the hotel is very old that can be understood but evey the way the have maintaine the hotel is very disgusting .....old lifts which take 5 minutes to reach top floor - the floorsare weak makes lot of sound there is no refrigerator or Microw
The hotel is in a convenient location, within walking distance of downtown restaurants and the New York train. There's also a nice complimentary breakfast served in the hotel restaurant/bar.
There is a $10 a night parking fee.
First room had a terrible odor, I requested an immediate change-which they did immediately.Building is very old and really needs to be updated-floors creak, etc. Staff was under 18 which jarred with the 'old' hotel ambience.
Not renovated, very small, not a convenient location
Very clean bathroom & bedding
Hotel seems 'tired' and in need of a great deal of renovating.
difficult to think of anything positive to say about this hotel - it is old, tired and badly in need of renovation
see comments above. It was also outrageous that we were charged $10 for parking overnight
Great location for exploring the area, which my wife and I did the next day with a realtor. The breakfast included with our stay was tasty and a nice surprise, as I didn't know it was included.
We were there on a Saturday, and I could hear the bass from the music below our second-floor room, which was at the front of the hotel and above where the hotel holds parties. It was over by 11 p.m. though and was quiet the rest of the night.
The surprise parking fee. The lack of willingness on the staff's part to accommodate their guests requests.
Location. Also easy to get to from Newark Airport
Breakfast was served in the pub located in the basement.
The location is right in downtown Summit, close to nearby businesses, but set far enough away that the business district does not interfere with a quite night.
Although it is a historic hotel, the rooms do not need to have 70s and 80s furniture. 1970s and 1980s, that is. It looked like cheap furniture from the thrift store.
The location and the breakfast (included). The desk staff when we checked in were very helpful and pleasant.
The room was small (that's okay). The bed was short (not okay) and the bathroom/shower were tiny. It smelled somewhat. And noisy guests at 1 AM (drunke guests I think - they left a half-empty beer can outside our door).
Overall appearance and public places.
A bit old but still in good condition.
I never had such a bad experience at a hotel I booked through you folks and I've booked many. The gentleman at the desk was the worst...
We had to cary luggage up and down a steep flight of stairs to get it to and from our room inn an isolated part of the ground level.
I had my wedding at The Grand Summit Hotel for 150 guests. The ceremony was beautiful and many of the guests complimented the food. It's amazing what you get for the price. Very reasonable for price per guest. We chose to have it in the morning from 11:30am for the ceremony, cocktail hour from 12 to 1pm, and then reception from 1pm to 5pm. I recommend the morning wedding because your guests are lively and when they leave, they will not be tired for the drive home or the following day. Plus, you save close to half price for each guest. The staff takes care of a lot during the wedding. No rehearsal necessary. You are walked through it without any problems the day of. The ballroom is elegant. The cocktail hour is in a great area with tons of windows for a beautiful open feel. I didn't want my wedding in a hotel because I thought it would have the wrong impression, but this is a very old building with tons of charm and grace. You get a complimentary suite that is 2 large rooms and a nice bathroom. You will have plenty of room for your wedding party to get ready without feeling overwhelmed. You will all fit comfortably. The rooms are very nice and clean. Your guests will love if you have accommodations available to them without having to drive from the reception. Plus, you can request a free pass to the Summit YMCA down the street for your entired stay. Great facility. Have your wedding here! Teresa, the assistant director of catering, will certainly guide you with ease through the whole planning process. It was a pleasure working with her. Have your wedding here!
We only stayed for one night, but what a pleasant surprise! A luxurious facility with great dining in a quiet location. Convenient to NYC & Pennsylvania. Rooms are spacious. Great rates off-season. May be difficult to find--we probably would not have found it without GPS.
This hotel is lovely. The front desk staff were wonderful, the rooms were lovely (I got an upgraded room w/sitting area b/c I joined the I Prefer Program before I left home), the concierge was very knowledgeable, the bellman was delightful. This hotel is located in the Back Bay area and is close to Newbury Street, upscale malls, 7 Eleven (no vending machines in hotel), and the T entrance is RIGHT in front of the hotel. My experience at this hotel was perfect and I will stay at the Colonnade again in a heartbeat!
Enjoyed large room, large comfortable bed, free wireless internet, big bathrobes for guest use, complimentary breakfast, including hot items.
