great location for any downtown activities

The staff at the Harbour Castle Westin in Toronto exceeded our expectations a number of times in one 24 hour stay. It started with an great Valet experience, Front Desk staff were outstanding, we had really nice room, wonderful view of Lake Ontario, this hotel is operated with an eye on every detail. It's very clean, well appointed, staff are all very professional and extremely helpful. It's been a ling time since a Hotel made us really say "Wow!"
There wasn't a single thing we didn't like. We gave the entire Hotel 100%
Hotel staff were willing and able to make accomadations at no extra charge due to overbooking. Loved the view overlooking the city skyline and Lake Ontario. I was able to see Rochester from the hotel room that morning.
Valet parking was a little expensive, but that may have been due to the Pan-Am games that were in progress.
The location of the hotel is great
The breakfast quality and service was not good.
Very well located hotel. The staff was very professionnal
The Valet parking was too expensive!
The hotel was conveniently located downtown near everything
The hallways were dirty and the room looks out dated
closeness to events
long check in time & noise
Good location and quality
Too expensive, no wifi and no breakfast included. I got the WIFI but I had to negociate with the manager.
David at desk was very polite accommodating and efficient. Went out of way to answer questions. even added perqs without my asking!
Check in was great. Told they were giving me a room with double beds - i asked for a queen for my wife and I and they upgraded me to a king bed and water view. Coudn't ask for more. Great place great location.
Staff was great. Lovely room with a view of the water... Thomas the bellman was a wealth of information and very helpful!
The food at the restaurant was not great, and very expensive for what it was.
Location was great for walking to an Air Canada Centre concert and downtown shopping. Well maintained hotel
The cost for self parking was $35/night, and was a short walk to the hotel, but hey it's Toronto and parking is not cheap. The room was a little noisy in that we could easily hear the people in the next room.
Excellent location which is 20 minute or less walking distance to CN tower, Rogers Centre, Hockey Hall of Fame, Distillery District, and downtown Toronto. Rooms were comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Amenities were decent. Price was excellent.
Parking was expensive -- $45/night for valet. $35/night for self parking.
The location and the cleanliness of the hotel is great. The lobby is stylish, the room was clean and comfortable, and even our most basic room had a great view of the harbor. Overall we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The restaurant at the top of the north tower has a brilliant scenic lift ride, and the views from the top while you dine are gorgeous. The food, while a little expensive, was excellent, and the martini's were delicious! We had free use of the pool, though I would point out that it is often filled with children, including the hot tub. Towels are provided and the changing rooms have a sauna and a steam room. When we discovered that our room did not come with WiFi after all, we explained that we had booked the hotel with internet connectivity in mind for business purposes, and we were given access free of charge. The WiFi is good, and stable enough to make VOIP calls.
Although this is a luxury hotel, we found amenities we expected to be included in our price were in fact excluded. Our room did not include breakfast, and breakfast separately was an incredibly overpriced buffet. Luckily there are better places to eat nearby, including the Cocoberry cafe a little bit up the street from us. We booked under the impression we would be getting WiFi in our room, only to discover that it was an added extra we could upgrade to. The hotel was advertised to us as one that included free WiFi, which is incredibly deceptive. The only free WiFi available is in the lobby, and even then it is only for an hour a day! We also did not have a fridge in our room. Even basic and budget hotels these days tend to include WiFi, fridge facilities, and even breakfast, so it was a little bit disappointing to say the least, and doing without a fridge is a great inconvenience to people who need to refrigerate medical supplies such as insulin. Worst of all, when we asked for an ice bucket for chilling champagne, we were told we could upgrade to have a fridge put in our room, or we could use the waste basket instead! I understand that the staff cannot forego hotel policy and do the best they can otherwise, but the opportunities taken to scrounge more money out of us is distasteful. Upselling should never make a customer feel like they are being screwed over if they choose the less expensive option.
Great location and view from the room. Westin does a good job with comfortable furnishings and bed.
The room smelled of smoke (one of the guests to my room also commented on this) and my allergies resurfaced. I told the front desk and they said it was not legal, like people don't bypass the smoke detectors.. who is monitoring and fining people for this?? The noise level was too high, I had to call the front desk 3 times during my stay (once at 1am) to get the people in the next room to turn their music down. Someone also put their key in the lock of the adjoining room door and was clicking it for 10 mins at 6 am and woke me up the next morning, I was pretty scared. The guests in this so-called higher end property are ridiculous and the hotel staff don't really care that much even after you complain. I will not be a guest at this hotel again.
The concierge was very friendly.
Nothing included. You still have to pay for wifi in 2014? You can choose between paying $35 per night to park a couple blocks away or $45 per night for valet parking. The decent price I thought I was getting for the stay quickly disappeared.
