Old motel that needs to be renovated. The AC didn't work and the breakfast and pool were poor. The linens were in need of replacement and there was a large gap under the door into the hallway. The only positive of the place was that the staff was nice. We would not stay there again
The first night of our stay didn't start too well. We brought a DVD player to watch movies and the TV was so old it want compatible. We then were locked out of or room for 3 hours because the lock mechanism quit working. When we did get moved to a new room, it was much better. It had a flat screen TV and was much more roomy. The bathroom is very small. The staff was courteous...but didn't offer much to help us when we were locked out of room in our swim suits.
This room was fine enough for our purposes -- being out and about most of the time. It was not a place to stay in and do work; the furniture was all wrong for computer use. The older TV was a treat, though. No searching for satellite signals, and it worked great every time. We slept better after buying pillows that were larger and firmer -- not usually a problem for us when traveling. The room temp was easily adjusted, no problems there. The toilet/tub/shower space was absolutely the smallest (or most efficient use of space) we've ever seen. A large person might not have been comfortable, but again, no problems for us. We probably won't stay again because we like trying different places, but we would recommend this for a good budget stay with great staff.
The first survey I've ever completed; unfortunately, it's not good. The staff was courteous enough, but the room wasn't clean. There were long black hairs around the sink/surrounding area; same hair was found in the bath tub. The carpet was gross and tho I'll assume a vacuum had been run over it, there were empty candy and toothpick wrappers left in plain sight. My guess was since a vacuum couldn't reach them, the staff felt physically reaching down to pick them up would have taken too much effort? There was an empty cocoon on the back of the bathroom door, which I'm sure had been recently vacated by a family of spiders. It wasn't hard to see when using the toilet, since it was less than a foot away, however, the cleaning staff must never close the door to see what grime lingers there. In addition, the cable cut out frequently which resulted in an incredibly loud screeching sound that was nerve-racking to say the least.
The staff here were great and went out of their way to make things right - sadly the state of repair in the inn itself was sadly lacking. Among other things there were holes in the blackout curtains, furniture that was shabby and badly in need of refinishing/painting, wi-fi that didn't work, etc. I commend the staff who were first rate and hope that the management find ways to address the facility and furnishing issues.
unfortunately , we ran into some problems and were delayed in getting to the hotel on the first day of our scheduled stay. I had called the hotel and explained that we would be arriving a day late -they were accommodating. The hotel provided a continental breakfast, but the area was very small and many took food back to their room or sat outside- fortunately the weather was nice.
I liked the fact that there were two entry doors...one from the outside and one from inside the hotel. The breakfast was filled with variety of items. The staff was courteous and friendly. The bathroom would have been nicer if it was all in one room, not with the sink and vanity separate. All in all, I would recommend this and would stay here again.
Since most hotels were booked, I felt this was our next best choice. It was okay for 2 nights since we were gone during the day. Clean, but definitely due for a remodel and upgrade of carpeting, tile, etc. Breakfast area seating was quite limited.
Good hotel, hot breakfast, was comfortable. It was conveniently located.
it was a great place to stay because everything was close to where we needed to go.
This is an excellent hotel. The rooms were clean, the service excellent, and so was the deluxe breakfast. The hotel is located in a very good area, and next to the State camp grounds, and across from the bay. There is the TART trail in back of the hotel were you can have a nice walk, ride your bike, or just give the dog some exercise. The price is right, and for $* you can have your dog in your room with you. The dogs size is not a problem, as they allowed me to have our well trained and beautiful 2 year old Lab in the room with us. There is an excellent resturant located next door to the hotel and to the east of the hotel. The room price is reasonable mostly during the week, but the price goes up during the weekend and during special events, so if you can visit during the week, you would be better off. I think this hotel is under rated! The indoor pool and jacuzzi was clean and pleasant I will make this my hotel every time I vist Traverse City. It is close to everything and the hotel is very dog friendly! We stayed in this hotel in July and in August 2010.
I came to the area to visit friends and spent 2 nights in this hotel. The hotel itself is a bit old and the air conditioner made a lot of noise, but the hotel was spotless and staff was great! I needed to print some paperwork and the hotel manager went out of his way to make the arrangements for that to get done. The girls at the desk were also helpful and very knowledgable about the area. The location of the hotel is excellent with restaurants (Mabels's is awesome) and a great mini-golf place nearby. The only downfall of the hotel is the difficulty getting out of the parking lot. The hotel is on a very busy road with anything of interest requiring a left hand turn across traffic.
My husband and I stayed at the Quality Inn and had a really nice stay. We enjoyed the breakfast and the staff was wonderful, even tucking my little travel bear (that travels with me everywhere) in when they cleaned our room. We really enjoyed this little hotel right across the street from the Bay within walking distane of a beautiful beach where we sat and watched the sun set. Thank you for a wonderful stay! We would stay again.
Old, stinky and clammy. The room was awful. The service was even worse. Would never stay here again. I have stayed at other Quality Inns and this is by far the worst. It is definitely outdated and needs to be remodeled or torn down. I would stay at the Econo Lodge in Kalkaska before I would ever stay here again.
We went to Traverse City because my sister recently married a man from that city and they had a 6 month wedding reception for out-of-town guests and family. We also wanted to take advantage of the 4th of July weekend and Cherry Festival. We stayed 5 nights. We had 13 family members staying at this motel. We felt that this motel was very old and out of touch with reality. The breakfast 'room' was in the lobby with 3 tables. They consistently ran out of food and people had to ask the desk clerk to have certain items refreshed. Carpet was dirty and worn. Pool was the size of a postage stamp. There is a charge of 1.50 each day for the safe in the room even if you don't use it! You have to tell them to take off the charge if you don't use the safe. Sign posted on wall was not near the registration desk! Bedding was not changed everyday. Towels, washcloths and blankets ALL had HOLES in them! When I asked for new items; the housekeeping staff was rude and acted like she didn't want to bother. Bathroom and sink was not cleaned every day even though I moved personal items so they could clean easily. One morning I put out the Do Not Disturb sign. The desk clerk called at 11 am and asked me if I wanted services that day. I wondered out loud why they wouldn't just check back to see if the sign was removed? I asked how late the housekeeping staff worked and they said til 5pm. I asked them to come back about noon to replenish towels and clean the room. We will never stay in another Quality Inn again!
Rooms were neat and clean. We were pleased with the ability to book two adjoining rooms to accommodate our entire family. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Free breakfast was not as nice as we have had at other Quality Inns -- no hot food whatsoever. There was plenty of parking regardless of the time of day or night we returned to our rooms which was surprising since it was Cherry Festival. The pool was very small. However, this was a summer stay and we weren't concerned about the pool since we'd planned other activities. It might be a concern for a winter stay.
Rooms need updating, lobby too small for breakfast. Very noisy late at night. A/C unit noisy.
We've stayed here a few times. It's a great value for the location, if used as a place to sleep. Red Masa next door is great. Good family stay.
dirty towel and glass in bathroom when checked in. small rooms and needs updating.
We were disappointed; the room looked like it was from the 60s; the bathroom wasn't very clean; needs updating.
For price and area this is a good value. Rooms are not top of the line, but clean and comfortable. Staff was above & beyond friendly and helpful.
The hotel has seen better days. It is rather plain, nothing exciting. There are no real views of the Bay. Having said that, the staff were exceptionally friendly. The room was clean and spacious - would stay again.
