The Regina Hotel, Wengen is a good hotel choice for your Bernese Oberland holiday. You’ll enjoy your time at this 4-star hotel in Switzerland, in the Jungfrauregion (the region around the famous Jungfrau mountain). Built in 1894, the Regina is a grand Victorian hotel that towers over the local train station; Frommer’s called it Wegen’s most time-honored hotel. Among the dining options are the Chez Meyer’s Restaurant, known for the exquisite dishes produced by its large kitchen and for its extensive list of fine wines, and the formal dining room of Jack’s Brasserie. Travelers can relax in the elegant lobby bar, with a huge fireplace and large windows overlooking the mountains. This ski-in/ski-out hotel offers ski storage and 225 square feet (21 square meters) of conference facilities, as well as a fitness room and a beauty center, where guests can benefit from a wide range of treatments, massages, manicure, and pedicure. Wengen is one of Europe’s few car-free resorts, with only a few electric vehicles ferrying visitors to and from the train station. Some 40 trains bring passengers in to Wengen from Lauterbrunnen every day. From the Regina Hotel it’s approximately a 5 minute walk to the base station of the Luftseilbahn Wengen-Männlichen (LWM) cable car, which carries hikers and skiers up the Männlichen, a 7,687-foot (2,343-meter) mountain. Wengen is internationally known for staging the Lauberhorn alpine ski races and being on the route of the Jungfrau Marathon.
Everything is much below my expectations....NOT Recommended unless u dont mind to pay 4 stars but get 1 star services.
Duvet is very small and not suitable for adult. Not much choice in Breakfast Buffet table(s)...
Great location. The Breakfast was great.
For 300 per night it was a bit expensive. Once upon a time it was a grand hotel in the mountains. But it has become a bit rundown. It is in need of some fresh paint and new pillows The rooms have been cut up into small rooms with a maze for hallways, which of course takes away from the feeling of a grand hotel. Some of this inattention may be because of the poor economic times. Very few travelers in Wengen this summer.
The view from the room. The old-time atmosphere.
My review reflects the fact that I stayed at the hotel in summer time, when it seems that the staff is at a minimum and everything is reduced as much as possible (personnel, lighting, food). The gourmet restaurant was closed (but it was not mentioned at booking time) and the breakfast was barely essential.
View side from the hotel was really good, hotel is above arround 1100 m. and you can see the the top of montain from the hotel
facilityies of the hotel was really old and bad. I take two rooms, the refrigrator in the first room not working propapely and there was no available in the second room. Staff are very limited. i.e. the one whose working in the front office responsible for house keeping, room services and there was only one serving all of customers during breakfast!
Great view, well located (although this can be said about 90% hotel in Alps), really good restraunt, excellent home-made wine. Hotel is "ancient" and this is it's main feature
There was a dust on the furniture, bad was increadibly uncomfortable, not enogh towels in the bathroom
