Passenger Types

General Information

Our search engine does not yet allow you to search for tickets for different types of passengers (seniors, children, infants, etc). However, you can specify each child or senior as an adult in your search and then on the purchase page from your selected airline or agency, you can lookup their latest policies, and change your passenger types on the website.

Infant Fares

An infant is defined as a child under the age of two years. Infants less than 7 days old are often not allowed to fly without special permission.

On domestic flights, infants are able to travel for free when not occupying a seat and when accompanied by an adult passenger at least 18 years of age. There is only one “lap” infant allowed per passenger.

On international flights, “lap” infants often require a paper ticket and are subject to international taxes and any surcharges which are not discounted. Depending on the route, a 10% adult fare may also apply.

Individual passengers traveling with two infants must reserve at least one seat, at the normal fare price. If you do reserve a seat for an infant, you must have an FAA approved infant seat.

It is strongly recommended that you carry a birth certificate for the infant since most airlines reserve the right to ask for proof of age.

Child Fares

In most cases, there are no special discounts for children over the age of two years. They are required to purchase a ticket and occupy their own seat.

There are, however, several rules regarding children traveling alone. Depending on the age of the child and the route traveled, additional fees may apply. You need to contact the particular provider for more information on their particular policy.

Please be aware, if you have a child traveling alone, most airports no longer let you accompany your child through security.

Senior Fares

For most airlines, seniors are defined as people over the age of sixty five years.

Many airlines do offer senior discounts on some of their routes. However, this information is not available on-line. You need to contact the carrier directly to find out if there is a senior discount for the particular route you want to fly and then book the flight through their reservation department.
