Huge Starwood sale runs through tomorrow at midnight

Starwood has put rooms at hundreds of its hotels on sale through midnight tomorrow. Good for stays through Jan. 18 (and through April 25, 2010 at some resorts), the discounted offerings mean as much as 50 percent off regular rack rates at participating hotels and resorts from brands such as Le Meridien, St. Regis and W Hotels.

The one person the TSA liquid ban apparently does apply to: Britney Spears

The TSA ban on liquids apparently isn’t as universal as we thought. In what is fast becoming the best celebrity travel scandal in recent months, the intrepid gossip hounds over at TMZ.com scored tabloid gold with their video of pop singer Britney Spears strolling through LAX security with a super-sized beverage in hand. But perhaps even more interesting than the slip in security at one of our country’s largest airports is the immediate – and scathing – response the government agency has received from the public via comments on the TSA blog.

Want tickets to National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony? The time is now…

If you’re going to be in or around Washington, DC on Dec. 3, you’ll be in our nation’s capital for one of the most longstanding free, public holiday events out there: the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. To attend the event, during which President Obama will speak, you’ll need a ticket. Here’s how to get one.

First, you’ll need a little luck on your side, as tickets are available to the general public only through a lottery system. But there are, thankfully, quite a few to be had. The National Park Service and National Park Foundation will award 2,800 seated tickets and 7,000 standing-room-only tickets to those who enter the lottery by 11:59 p.m. Nov. 6. Read more »
