 I don't know if you care (I'm not sure I do), but Pierce Brosnan counts Rome's Hassler Hotel as one of his favorites, according to an interview in November's Travel + Leisure. I can see why. The 5-star hotel is located right at the top of the famous Spanish Steps, has a rooftop restaurant overlooking Rome, a gym, several bars and a charming garden restaurant.
But the main thing that wows me about it is this: how many hotels describe a certain room category as deluxe when it's really just a standard room with a hairdryer and an overpriced minibar or something like that? The photograph above, well, now that's a serious deluxe room. But you'll pay for it. Double rooms start at 500 Euro/night and go up... and up...
