Insider Tip: Buy Lift Tickets Early |
Yes, I know it's so f-ing hot that talking about lift tickets at this point sounds absurd. But the ski resorts are announcing their Winter 2006-2007 lift ticket prices - which means you, dear snowbunnies, should begin strategizing for ways to save on your favorite winter pasttimes.
As the article linked below points out, even though daily lift ticket prices can be in the 80s for big resorts like Vail and Aspen, you'd be a dumbo to pay that much. Here are some ways you can save:
- Buying a season's pass is probably going to yield the best deal, but it's obviously only a good idea if you intend on visiting one resort frequently.
- Always buy your lift tickets in advance - either through the ski resort itself or through a licensed re-seller. Many outdoor stores, for example, offer discounted lift tickets to local ski resorts their customers.
- Check ski resort web sites for pre-season deals. Even though Aspen's published rate is $82/day, you can buy a four-day pass before the season opens for $149 ($37.25/day) - much much better deal.
- Scour craigslist for lift ticket deals. I can't tell you how many random ways people try to swap their lift tickets, discounted passes, etc., when the ski season hits - at least out here in California.
- Look for hotel deals that include lift tickets. Many resort area lodging options package in tickets with room rates to entice travelers.
