Las Vegas: Glitter Gulch (or Downtown) |
While the small sizing on this photo doesn't do it justice, it's one of my favorites from a photographer friend of mine's recent trip to Vegas. It looks like quintessential Vegas to me. Interestingly, this was taken in downtown Vegas on Fremont St in the area known as Glitter Gulch or The Fremont Experience. Many visitors to Vegas never venture down to these parts, even though this is where it all began. Glitter Gulch is also the name of a strip club. In recent years, the downtown area surrounding Fremont St has been converted into a gigantic pedestrian mall with a 90-foot canopy roof that spans over four blocks covering it. Another interesting tidbit about this part of Vegas: outdoor streetlights are completely unecessary because of all the crazy signs.
