Following similar hotel fee cuts made earlier this year by online travel sites Expedia and Priceline, Orbitz announced this week that it will stop charging customers hotel fees for changing or canceling reservations.

That is likely to mean a savings of $25 for Orbitz customers who book, then have a change of plans, reports the New York Times.

Expedia is offering travelers a little spring break assistance with a new sale good at 700 of its hotels. At the same time, it is waiving booking fees for airline reservations - that'll save you another $7 per booking.

The Free Nights promotion launched today offers travelers a third, fourth or fifth night free on stays at participating hotels - that means a discount of 20 to 33 percent on the total trip cost, depending on the length of the stay.  The offer is good through April 9 for travel through May 15.
