Puerto Vallarta: Club Embarcadero Pacifico Hotel |
A few days ago, a family friend was recounting a recent trip to Mexico that basically amounted to the vacation from hell. It was an all-inclusive resort in Ixtapa where meals meant jockeying with hundreds of guests for various bean dishes and watery cocktails. There were other issues, too. Like her peanut-sized room and an alcoholic traveling companion (always fun).
I think one has to be careful when booking all-inclusive vacations. It's hard to tell whether you're going to be sacrificing quality for quantity and how the staff is going to treat you - often there are so many guests that the staff can be spread too thin.
TravelPoster bmann just blogged about one all-inclusive resort in Mexico that managed to provide a great setting, friendly staff, fun activities and a good value. In the post A Mix of Culture, bmann describes her stay at the Club Embarcadero Pacifico Hotel in Puerto Vallarta:
The Embarcadero is the perfect place for young travellers and older travellers to go to see a mixture of culture. I travelled to Puerta Vallarta during my Spring break from third year university and was pleasantly surprised. naturally you are always skeptical about travelling to Mexican cities (especially being a woman), but surprisingly I felt quite safe. The hotel had amazing staff that did their best to treat you like friends during the day and the night. If we were not satisfied during the day with a bike tour or a dip in the pool, than at night they would make sure to take us out ot a hot club and give us the full VIP treatment.
