Sending Your Kids to Summer Camp? |
When I went to summer camp, I remember some tall tales coming out of the infirmary, which, appropriately enough, was isolated off in the dark, scary woods across a rickety bridge that creaked ominously as you ventured towards its equally rickety screen door. Most of us would have to have been sick unto death before we'd go there of our own volition. And the one time I needed medical assistance to remove a large piece of bark that got stuck under my toenail after running into a submerged tree trunk while swimming in the lake, they had to take me "to town" to find a doctor who could properly, safely extract the offending splinter.
None of that really has anything to do with anything. But should you be sending your offspring to summer camp, you might want to check out CampMedic, a free service that allows you to input your child's medical history and save it online or burn it onto a CD for the camp nurse. If your child has any medical problems, the nurse will have an easily accessible record right there in front of her. Adults can use the corresponding PassportMD service to create their own medical histories before traveling abroad.
