Smoking Banned in British Virgin Islands

no smokingThe British Virgin Islands has announced that a new smoking ban law will take effect after a six-month grace period designed to allow tourists to adjust to the new rules. Under the ban, smoking will be prohibited in all enclosed public spaces, including bars and restaurants, and within 50 feet of doors and windows opening into enclosed public spaces. The ban is directed at tourists, many of whom smoke while vacationing in the idyllic islands, as few of the islands' 22,000 permanent residents smoke regularly. The penalty for smoking violations has not yet been determined. Tourists beware: British Virgin Islands Bans Smoking
