TravelPoster's Santa Ana de Coro |
Would you believe that these dunes have turned an island into a peninsular landmass that's now part of mainland Venezuela? You should, because it's true. TravelPoster Lamok explains the dunes' bizarre past in a recent journal post:
We went to the famous Peninsula just outside Coro. It started as an island, but over the years, sand has accumulated and the former island is now a Peninsula. On the newly formed landmass that binds the former island to the mainland, a collection of sand dunes has formed. Looks amazing! Kind of like a Sahara in miniature... Located north of Coro, the dunes are part of Los Medanos de Coro National Park. They are popular among tourists, who come to climb them and roll down the sandy slopes and to photograph their ever-changing shapes. Thanks, Lamok! |
