Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club |
If you're headed to Raleigh, Durham or the Duke University campus, the Washington Duke Inn and Golf Club is one of the poshest lodging options around. It's located on 300 acres, which includes the University's 18-hole golf course, and features outdoor amenities like a 3-mile running path, as well as indoor perks like a fitness center with indoor pool and spa services, Sunday Jazz Brunch in the Inn's dining room and in-room extras like Gilchrist & Soames bath products and nightly turndown.
One TravelPoster stayed there and liked it so much, he's thinking about holding his upcoming wedding there:
While interviewing at Duke University, I was put up at the Washington Duke Inn. As such, I didn't get to pay for my stay, but I sure as heck enjoyed the outstanding service and magnificent beauty of the Inn. And now that I have gotten the job at Duke (which I blame on feeling so good from my stay at the Inn), my girlfriend and I are thinking of holding our wedding reception there.
He didn't have to pay for it, but you probably will. Luckily, the Inn offers a $139 holiday room rate (regularly $159-299) and 50 percent off rates for suites (regularly $399-2,500/night) on Memorial Day, Labor Day, the Fourth of July and any day from June 1-August 31, 2006.
