Music City Hotel is easily one of the most unique experiences in modern accommodation as it combines the world of music with the hostel setting. It blends the San Francisco Music Hall of Fame with a venue offering dining, recording studios and more. Located a short distance from San Francisco’s famed Haight Ashbury District, it is also close to the Regency Ballroom, City Hall, Union Square, historic Lombard Street, famous Coit Tower, the Cable Car Museum, and so much more. Reach the bay in a pleasant mile-long walk and delight in the many shops and restaurants along the way. Both the Oakland International Airport and the San Francisco International Airport are around 12 miles from the hotel.
The theme of the hotel (which also offers hostel-style rooms) is music, and one of the key amenities is the 50 fully equipped rehearsal studios available to visitors. There are also free live music performances, an art gallery and more. Other services include baggage hold services, late check-in options, parking (for a fee), complimentary beverages and some snacks, business services, shuttle services (for a fee), and shared lounge spaces.
The rooms range from hotel to hostel options. The rooms range in size, but all provide queen beds, a mini-kitchen with sink and fridge, free Wi-Fi, a premium entertainment system, luxury linens and bedding and private baths well-stocked with toiletries and linens. The hostel guests also get linens and toiletries along with an array of different bunk and room options.
When it is all about experiencing a unique side of San Francisco, and for those who are all about music, the Music City Hotel is a unique and appealing option that is sure to offer a great stay.

A unique and very enjoyable experience! Highly recommended.
Pros. Location. That is literally the only upside here.
Cons. This hostel has literally ZERO soundproofing. It is attached to a band practice space/karaoke space, which I get is part of the draw for some people but there is NO WAY TO SLEEP here. It is like being at a concert-even on the third floor, constantly until almost midnight, and after that even just your neighbor opening and closing a door, or the street noise is so loud that I had to put in noise canceling headphones and take extra sleeping pills. Its all amplified so much. I literally got maybe 3 hours of sleep here each night that I stayed. The bathrooms were never clean, and the staff was less than friendly. There is no elevator and no one offers to help with luggage. I would never stay here again.
Cons. Dirty
Pros. Everyone is friendly. Was not worried or paranoid rooming with so many strangers.
Cons. Since bathrooms are shared, the hotel should be cleaning them more frequently. People go in and out and not everyone is a clean person. I had to clean the counters because everything was wet and there was no place to set my things. There was water all over the floor and need to be careful how you walk.
Pros. Such a nice hostel for the price. Did not feel like a last minute option.
Pros. Clean, comfortable, friendly staff. The building has a lot of character and is in a relatively convenient location (a little far from the BART station).
Cons. Not a lot of noise insulation from other rooms or hallway.
Pros. I like hostels because they're a good value for an area of the city that can otherwise be pricey. The staff is laid back yet professional and knowledgable about the local area. I stayed in a small room with plenty of storage, sink, fridge and TV. I liked having the large window to the courtyard/ open area that you can open completely.
Cons. I was worried about getting enough sleep because of the music rehearsal studio that is in the basement. While in my room at 9pm I could hear the band play muffled but clearly. The tv would cover the sound easily. This went on and off till 11. I could hear some construction sounds from next door through the open area out my window until 7pm, but not again until after 9am.
Pros. I did like that the owner promotes music. I am not a musician, nor do I ever wish to be. But Googling this "Music City" Hotel has a few haters. When I left (today ) 10-09-2015 there was construction adjacent to the hotel (next door) looking inside ... I think there is expansion in the future. Good for this owner to foster Music. AND young musicians. Julie
Pros. Pretty good location. It is located in an area with lots of restaurants that serve good food. If you have a problem with musicians practicing, playing music in thw basement until 11pm then do not book here. They even warn you on their website.
Cons. Having to share a bathroom is not one of my favorite things. Also, felt the room could be cleaner.
