Pros. Cute furniture; boutique hotel feel. Our room was a good size for Seattle and the front desk person got us to a higher floor so that we’d have a view of the space needle.
Cons. A bit noisy; valet parking was a bit much at $35 + tax, and especially considering the room cost was only $119
Pros. Inherently attractive older hotel which needs some adjustment to be more user-friendly For instance, Bath supplies came in fixed containers that didn't work and there weren't outlets to plug things in. Staff were very warm and helpful.
Pros. The person who checked us in, Andrew, was more than accommodating. He was so nice and provided some small extras that made my son very happy.
Pros. close to University Ave and UW
Cons. beggars nearby; not disclosing there's a parking fee
Pros. Free coffee at the cafe Room with a view on the 15th floor, spacious and comfortable Apples Morning paper available Elevators always prompt Cafe staff very helpful
Cons. It was a surprise to pay for parking when it was free last year and did not indicate charge on the website. In general website lacked information such as hours for the cafe.
Pros. I like the location, in the heart of the U-District. Wifi good.
Cons. The musty smell encompassing the entire room and the front desk offering to spray the room with cleaner instead of offering a different room because it was entirely booked.
Pros. Great location w/ parking
Cons. Mattresses on the old side
Pros. Vintagey hotel. Nice little cozy sitting lounge; staff super helpful, accommodating and friendly; responded to minor requests quickly. If going to UWash is your mission, this is close to the university and probably better for you. The monorail is a few blocks' walk, so that's an option for able folks. It does have relatively easy freeway access for exploring greater Seattle from the north. Coffee shop below nice for morning coffee. Beds were comfortable and the place was reasonably quiet.
Cons. Our first night in Seattle, excited to see the city. For $300 ($721 for two nights total) we had no view from a smallish room. No hotel rooftop view, either. The surrounding neighborhood felt dicey--'yellow alert' safe with mostly people begging at the grocery store two blocks away. My teenage daughter and I walked around to find a resto and decided it felt safer to drive, because the whole neighborhood was run down (tho new dorm? construction everywhere) and several characters hanging en masse on the sidewalk a couple blocks over made us feel unsafe. Bad vibe. Not a good intro to Seattle. It's far from the downtown. Since you have to pay for parking at the hotel, it sucks to pay even more to park downtown. Other folks at hotel seemed happy to be there but I felt bad about choosing this one for our first two nights.
Pros. Lobby was nice. Staff was nice
Cons. Parking was horrible. Paid outrageous amount to stay one night .the was no better that econolodge, or motel 6. But paid like it was the hilton
