FAQs - booking Japan flights

  • Do the airports in Japan offer accessibility services to passengers with reduced mobility?

The NRT and KIX airports provide first-rate assistance to visitors with disabilities. However, you must get in touch with your airline 48h prior to the departure of your flight from SJC and let them know about any services you might want. This will give the personnel ample time to make arrangements for wheelchair services and other help. As a result, when you land at any of the airports, the facilities will be ready on the ground.

  • Are there onsite hotels at SJC?

Yes, if you're seeking a place to stay the night close or at SJC, there are a number of hotels where you may do so. One of the nicest hotels is the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel San Jose, which is about 0.6 miles away. You can alternatively stay the night at Hyatt Place San Jose Airport or Hampton Inn & Suites San Jose Airport, depending on your tastes and financial constraints. All these hotels are near the airport, and both have indoor pools and comfy accommodations.

  • Can I find lactation lounges at any of the Japanese airports?

Nursing moms visiting Japan will be able to breastfeed their infants or even change their diapers in a secluded lactation location in the North Terminal of KIX. If you land in NRT, you will find the Mamava pods in each terminal.

  • Where can I spend the night at SJC?

SJC is a relatively small facility; those looking forward to sleeping while at the airport should go to Terminal A. There are cozy, padded chairs throughout the space. If you intend to spend the night in this airport, don't forget to bring an additional travel blanket.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from San Jose to Japan?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from San Jose to Japan.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from San Jose to Japan?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight to Japan from San Jose is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from San Jose to Japan?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly to Japan with an airline and back to San Jose with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from San Jose to Japan?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying to Japan from San Jose up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

We purchased premium economy seats 9 months ago and got bumped to economy when we tried to board the plane. It was a huge fiasco while they struggled to find us seats. I tried reaching out to Kayak to see how we can get refunded for the extra money we spent on premium but have heard nothing back. It was a 14 hour flight and were disappointed that we lost our seats after selecting them 9 months ago.

Flight was overall OK: lovely staff and smooth travelling. The only downside was no food was available on a 3.5 hour flight over lunchtime. Luckily we had realised this in advance and brought our own bento.

The whole flight in Economy was great, the crew were just amazing and the food was great as well

Crew went out of their way for me, not often

Lots of legroom for a small flight. There was in flight entertainment even though it is a short duration. We waited on one passenger to board for a long time after everyone else was on.

Domestic flight, 1hr 20mins from SFO to LAX, which takes about probably 40-30mins on air.

Easy if you are a United States Citizen, when you go to US Border & Customs, bring your Passport if you arrive Internationally. Remember to pick up your check baggage before moving into domestic flights, as they will check the tag for the plane you are boarding in. (They will check your baggage again). Bring your ID/DL (Real-ID COMPLIANT) with you to pass security/TSA, passport works too. SFO is pretty strict as well as LAX. Domestic flight, 1hr 20mins from SFO to LAX, which takes about probably 40-30mins on air.

At Fukuoka, check in counter stuff was no experience , took long time and took out our preserved sheets to change to emergency exit seats without asking. The flight was late and we missed the flight to go back to SF. My luggage was broken. I had a terrible experience.

Chair was broken. Crew was awesome. Food was eh. Dinner food not so good the sandwich was good ( for airplane food) headphones hurt my ears. It’s hard because no one has plug in earphones

Fast boarding. Cabin temperature was a bit warm, but I guess this is the standard in ANA. The Room seats are spacious, but not long enough for me.

Underpricer was terrible. They wanted to charge me $150 for a seat asignment. Kayak is responsible for letting this happen. Please let me know if this is going to happen in the future. If it is i will not use kayak in the future.

Checking in was hard because we had to enter our middle name with our first name and wasn’t told to. The representative from underpricer investigated it and called me back. We were very appreciative for him.

One of the best economy flights I’ve ever taken .

Minimal legroom. Most passengers are respectful and don't recline. Outrageous long walk from Terminal One to Terminal Three.

Good, not excellent. We’re not informed about mattress pads in business class. My partner ordered food and didn’t get it

I said the boarding was just par with other airlines, but I can't think of a way to improve it.

The flight was canceled, and the airlines stated that they don't know when they can put me on another flight. I had to purchase another flight from a different airline. I am now having issues requesting a refund. What a nightmare experience, I will not refer anyone to this airline.

Enjoyed flying Japan Airlines! Staff were all nice & flight was comfortable.

It was a quick and comfortable flight. There was no entertainment or food so I gave them poor marks. I wasn’t really expecting either so wish there was a NA option. Great flight with more leg room than my longer, overseas seating!

Particularly meals were great. Service’s were excellent as usual. .

Enjoyed every stage of travel and really loved the free WiFi on the international flight. I would only make one recommendation. There was a lot of young children under 2 on the flight. Loud crying screaming and just playing. Constant poopie diapers. These families were spread through out the plane. Some of the passengers with no patience actually yelled at these parents unfortunately. I would recommend keeping all the families with young children in the same part of the plane if possible that way the passengers that complain can be relocated. In this situation there was no part of the plane that didn't have a noisy child. Any ways I will be flying Hawaiian airlines again because the service was just that good!

It was a 48 min flt......so no real comments can. E made

The food wasn’t very good but everyone on the plane was great.

Friendly crew, flight left on time and arrived early. Had problems with using in flight entertainment on my iPhone, could not get it to work, with WiFi available. Liked being able to charge my phone. Overall a good experience!

The plane was nearly empty. My wife and I were seated behind a family with 3 sreaming kids. The parents refused to control their kids. When we tried to move to a quieter section of the near-empty plane, the flight attendant said please return to your seat. When we tried to explain, he stared at us coldly and simply repeated please return to your seat. When I asked if we could move after take-off he simply start and repeated please return to your seats. About as far from friendly and helpful as you can imagine.

Hawaiian Airlines is one of the best. The flight attendant are attentive to your needs courteous and very polite. The entertainment on the flight is also very good with numerous choices and TV movies. I would definitely recommend Hawaiian airlines.

It was a bit cold. The worst thing was the insecticide spraying which we were not notified about before the flight. There was no choice of complimentary food. I'm a vegetarian, and the food had meat. The seats were comfortable. The movie selection was nice. I'm glad I brought a headset, as none was offered. The flight times were very good.

Paid for extra leg room but seat was still uncomfortable! Not flying Hawaiian again.

The seating was very cramped. The selection of movies was poor.

They boarded the plane late and the flight was delayed. It was delayed because of the catering they said. It was around 30 mins late to Honolulu.

It was for the most part a 10/10 they said they had entertainment options but all they had was old movies for streaming from the mid 2010’s so like 10 years ago

all good for a very budget flight - well priced and excellent service. Will fly again

Couple of the crew members were really nice and the rest are really rude and didn't help when we needed help, food was not worth it at all and most importantly there's no even entertainment system other than a very interruptive and slow internet and some movies.

I appreciate the economy price of the tickets. The long flight made the comfort level on the lower average side. Wi-Fi connection was not consistent but working. Overall, I would fly again with zip air but next time get the flat, premium seats with the amount of money I would save otherwise.

Comfortable seats and lucky no one was in middle seat. No water on the plane. Plane was on time and staff was fast.

You get what you pay for and nothing more. Wanted a cheap flight and that’s exactly what I got, though it’s human nature to wanting to feel like you got a good deal as well. There was none of that here. I was cheap and they were too. Got to my destination safely and that’s all that really matters.

Nice service. I wish it could provide hot water on the flight.

internet didn't work. No offer of drinks or snacks.

Flight was seamless. Free wifi helped pass the time. Food was okay, just make sure you pre order or pick something up from the airport

Internet connection very poor, means you can not even order items through their own shop.

Crazy seating issues. We got seated far apart. Offered middle seats at a premium rate. Why is a middle seat now the expensive seat? Baffling.

The boarding process was a nightmare and though we were traveling business class, we were in Group 2 and the organization was terrible. The Business Class on this flight was crowded and did not feel clean and nice. Overall, I would not travel Business again on the American Airline flight through British Airways Not nearly special enough for the considerable cost .

Not too impressed with them to be honest. They had forgotten my gf meal, despite the fact that the app had notified me that it was sorted. Apparently there is a ‘glitch’ in the system, according to one of the stewardesses, and has been for a while. Also the legroom in economy is way too small (and I’m a slight person) and are very uncomfortable. An extra Internal flight I booked via the app, had not even given me the option to order a meal, so was unaware of that and left without food on a 9 hr. flight !! Don’t think I’ll use AA again after this.

The flight was uneventful. What was a problem was I was delayed getting home one entire day because the flight from Sacramento was delayed. That made getting to my connecting flight impossible. I had to stay another night at the hotel and incur that expense as a result.

VERY disappointed at the agent checking in my luggage. I know that the weight limit is 23 kg, a little over 50 pounds (50.71 pounds). Yet the agent kept repeating "50 pounds". So I said, the limit is 23 kg, and she had the audacity to say 'no, it is 22 kg!" Imagine my surprise. Was she ignorant or was she poorly trained? Not sure. The boarding process was pretty good. The speakers were loud enough so I still could hear them despite inconsiderate passengers continuing to speak while the announcements were going on. During the flight, the teenage girl sitting behind me kept pressing her feet to the back of my chair. I turned around several times, yet she did not get the hint. I did not make a fuss since I sense I had a bad streak that night with AA, so I just did the best I can to lean forward and not let that bother me.

Seats were very uncomfortable. I paid extra for a seat with more leg room, the seat was no different than a seat at the back of the plane. Flight attendant was rude.

Flights were on time. That's the main consideration since I had to change planes. The entertainment was whatever you bring with you and the food (in Economy) is non-existant. Neither of those was a surprise.

Mobility assistance at DFW is A JOKE!!! Totally disorganized, ineffective and annoying. Ended up having to walk and find our own way for a good part of the very, very long walk between gates. Worst assistance I have ever experienced.

Newer Aircraft have more amenities, but the JAL flight crew and ground staff are top tier and provided the best customer experience I've ever had on a flight!

This is a new route from Philadelphia to Naples. It was sold out. The team on board was excellent. I’ve flown this route twice this year and the flight has been excellent. I hope American keeps the route.
