FAQs - booking Japan flights

  • How early should I arrive at SEA airport?

For international flights, we recommend you arrive at the airport at least 3h before your scheduled departure time. This will allow you time to park your car, check in, get through security, explore and even eat before leaving. You can also sign up for pre-check to avoid the long lines at the security checkpoints.

  • Can I sleep at HND airport?

You will find comfortable sofas, benches, seats without armrests, and carpeted floors to sprawl out on in the International Terminal. Alternatively, if you prefer more comfortable options, you can sleep at one of the many hotels in and around the airport. One such hotel is the First Cabin Tokyo Haneda Hotel, located on arrivals Floor 1F in Domestic Terminal 1. You can use the monorail or complimentary shuttle bus for transfers between terminals. The one-person rooms at the hotel resemble plane cabins with no en-suite washrooms.

  • Where can I find the baby care rooms at HND?

There are multiple baby care rooms in all the terminals at HND with baby chairs, hot water dispensers, washbasins, and private nursing booths. In Terminal 1, there are 6 nurseries in the arrivals lobby and 9 in the departures lobby. In Terminal 2, there are 7 nurseries in the arrivals lobby and 9 in the departures lobby, among many others throughout the airport, which are very easy to locate. The restrooms also have to change tables and small urinals for young boys. You can also rent a stroller from any information counter.

  • Where can I relax at SEA?

If you are looking for a place to unwind at the airport, SEA has several lounges that you can access through a lounge membership program, by paying at the door, or by purchasing a day pass. Some of these lounges include the Centurion Lounge, adjacent to gate 33 on concourse B, and The Club at SEA opposite Gate A11 on Concourse A in the central terminal.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from Seattle to Japan?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from Seattle to Japan.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from Seattle to Japan?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight to Japan from Seattle is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from Seattle to Japan?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly to Japan with an airline and back to Seattle with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from Seattle to Japan?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying to Japan from Seattle up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

We purchased premium economy seats 9 months ago and got bumped to economy when we tried to board the plane. It was a huge fiasco while they struggled to find us seats. I tried reaching out to Kayak to see how we can get refunded for the extra money we spent on premium but have heard nothing back. It was a 14 hour flight and were disappointed that we lost our seats after selecting them 9 months ago.

We purchased premium economy seats 9 months ago and got bumped to economy when we tried to board the plane. It was a huge fiasco while they struggled to find us seats. Flight was overall OK: lovely staff and smooth travelling. The only downside was no food was available on a 3.5 hour flight over lunchtime. Luckily we had realised this in advance and brought our own bento.

The whole flight in Economy was great, the crew were just amazing and the food was great as well

Crew went out of their way for me, not often

Lots of legroom for a small flight. There was in flight entertainment even though it is a short duration. We waited on one passenger to board for a long time after everyone else was on.

At Fukuoka, check in counter stuff was no experience , took long time and took out our preserved sheets to change to emergency exit seats without asking. The flight was late and we missed the flight to go back to SF. My luggage was broken. I had a terrible experience.

Chair was broken. Crew was awesome. Food was eh. Dinner food not so good the sandwich was good ( for airplane food) headphones hurt my ears. It’s hard because no one has plug in earphones

Fast boarding. Cabin temperature was a bit warm, but I guess this is the standard in ANA. The Room seats are spacious, but not long enough for me.

ANA crews are superb, very responsive and caring. Boarding was smooth and so as the landing. Great flights we had with ANA.

Great service, wonderful meals, excellent entertainment, clean bathrooms, top notch experience

Underpricer was terrible. They wanted to charge me $150 for a seat asignment. Kayak is responsible for letting this happen. Please let me know if this is going to happen in the future. If it is i will not use kayak in the future.

Checking in was hard because we had to enter our middle name with our first name and wasn’t told to. The representative from underpricer investigated it and called me back. We were very appreciative for him.

One of the best economy flights I’ve ever taken .

Minimal legroom. Most passengers are respectful and don't recline. Outrageous long walk from Terminal One to Terminal Three.

Good, not excellent. We’re not informed about mattress pads in business class. My partner ordered food and didn’t get it

I said the boarding was just par with other airlines, but I can't think of a way to improve it.

The flight was canceled, and the airlines stated that they don't know when they can put me on another flight. I had to purchase another flight from a different airline. I am now having issues requesting a refund. What a nightmare experience, I will not refer anyone to this airline.

Enjoyed flying Japan Airlines! Staff were all nice & flight was comfortable.

It was a quick and comfortable flight. There was no entertainment or food so I gave them poor marks. I wasn’t really expecting either so wish there was a NA option. Great flight with more leg room than my longer, overseas seating!

Particularly meals were great. Service’s were excellent as usual. .

I upgraded to first class only to find out that I still had no access to the sky lounge without a sky miles card or AmEx (something that should be emphasized outside of the fine print!) Also, no food or drink service provided during the flight, so I basically paid 4x more just for “free” checked baggage and a bigger seat. Not worth it.

I appreciated friendly service from check-in, to boarding, to in-flight amenities! Attendants were accommodating and helpful. Thank you! Elaine

Delta was really good about being transparent with why we were delayed it’s just that’s the plane was really old and outdated and a lot of the comfort and amenities we know Delta to have did not shine through

Bottom seat cushion is almost non existent. Very uncomfortable seat.

Delta was great the entertainment was outdated. Screen was very small and didn’t work.

Coach seating is debilitating, neither my husband or I can walk the following day

It was NOT pleasant. Started from checking our luggage to the last time getting off the plane. The crew was not friendly, the food was horrible and the seats were too close to each other that I got a bruise on my knee.

Late departure due to large number of wheel chair patrons. Used to having a box of snacks to select from in comfort plus. The flight attendant just rattled off what was available and asked us to pick. Felt rushed and uncomfortable. Seat was great. Prefer having the screen on the seat in front of me instead of having to pull it up from the seat side. Lots of room for my carryon under the seat in front of me.

The flight was canceled two hours before departure, it took over five hours to rebook us on another flight.

Really bad baggage handling. Had my Rimowa bag badly damaged at the latches.

Enjoyed every stage of travel and really loved the free WiFi on the international flight. I would only make one recommendation. There was a lot of young children under 2 on the flight. Loud crying screaming and just playing. Constant poopie diapers. These families were spread through out the plane. Some of the passengers with no patience actually yelled at these parents unfortunately. I would recommend keeping all the families with young children in the same part of the plane if possible that way the passengers that complain can be relocated. In this situation there was no part of the plane that didn't have a noisy child. Any ways I will be flying Hawaiian airlines again because the service was just that good!

It was a 48 min flt......so no real comments can. E made

The food wasn’t very good but everyone on the plane was great.

Friendly crew, flight left on time and arrived early. Had problems with using in flight entertainment on my iPhone, could not get it to work, with WiFi available. Liked being able to charge my phone. Overall a good experience!

The plane was nearly empty. My wife and I were seated behind a family with 3 sreaming kids. The parents refused to control their kids. When we tried to move to a quieter section of the near-empty plane, the flight attendant said please return to your seat. When we tried to explain, he stared at us coldly and simply repeated please return to your seat. When I asked if we could move after take-off he simply start and repeated please return to your seats. About as far from friendly and helpful as you can imagine.

Hawaiian Airlines is one of the best. The flight attendant are attentive to your needs courteous and very polite. The entertainment on the flight is also very good with numerous choices and TV movies. I would definitely recommend Hawaiian airlines.

It was a bit cold. The worst thing was the insecticide spraying which we were not notified about before the flight. There was no choice of complimentary food. I'm a vegetarian, and the food had meat. The seats were comfortable. The movie selection was nice. I'm glad I brought a headset, as none was offered. The flight times were very good.

Paid for extra leg room but seat was still uncomfortable! Not flying Hawaiian again.

Nice people, easy boarding, comfortable seats. But didn’t like being stuck in a seat that I paid for only to hear an ad read by flight attendant for the Hawaiian Airlines credit card. TWO different times. No desire to hear all that. Wish there had been a mute button. And flight attendant handing out applications at the exit was way too much, Otherwise all good!!!

The crews were very friendly and provided excellent service. They offered a breakfast sandwich on our early flight which was a welcome option.

The people are great! The trip to Japan is simply never ending!!! Not the problem of the airlines, though.

United agent at FLL excellent - due 55 min conx at ORD rerouted us on an earlier departure via DEN and got home 5 hours earlier than expected

I bought a ticket from Brussels to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA via Montreal. When I went to the airport, I learned that I needed a Canadian visa. When I bought the ticket online, there was no warning saying "If you are not a US or Canadian citizen; You need a Canadian visa." I asked for my money back, but the staff at the airport said they couldn't help me. I said, "Make the ticket open, I'll fly later," and they said no. I looked for this information on Air Canada's website. They've hidden it so well that it's impossible to find it easily. I understand that Air Canada makes millions of dollars in unfair profits by selling tickets this way. Why don't they ask when purchasing? They don't ask; because they're making money. Every year, perhaps thousands of tickets are subject to this situation. I will use all my rights and complain everywhere. Maybe they won't give me my money back, but I would advise anyone buying ticket to be careful from now on.

Friendlier staff who are nice to the elderly who need assistance

They intentionally delayed the flight by half an hour to accommodate a few fools who didn’t show up in time to clear customs. I missed my connector, missed an important meeting, and was charged a rebooking fee. Never again

Never flew with AirCanada before. Was a super duper flight every time and on time! No changes or delays!

Everything went very smoothly and the staff was courteous and friendly. I was really happy and pleased with how well the plane was flown because the departure, descent and landing were really smooth with no sudden drops. The plane’s interior was clean and nice and new in appearance.

Air Canada is the best company I’ve ever flown with. If I had the money, I would only fly with them.

Hated charging my devices. The location of the outlet was inconvenient. And no USB connection. So outdated.

Lots of turbulence and had to reroute to Calgary, spending the night there, arriving home a day later. The staff were organized and pleasant, even though they were stressed and tires
