The Sunset Limited and the Texas Eagle trains both stop at the Palm Springs station (PSN). The Sunset Limited trains travel between New Orleans and Los Angeles and connect to other popular California routes, such as the Coast Starlight, the Pacific Surfliner and the San Joaquins. The Texas Eagle trains run between Chicago and San Antonio, where they connect with the Sunset Limited trains to continue service to Los Angeles.
Both the Sunset Limited and Texas Eagle routes are served by Superliner trains, which are double-decker trains that feature upper- and lower-level Coach seating as well as sleeper cars. Dining options on the trains include casual foods from the café car and traditional dining services in the dining car. On the upper level of the café car is the Sightseer Lounge with tables, comfortable seating and large windows for enjoying the view. The comfortable, reclining seats have power outlets and lots of legroom. Trains on these routes do not have Wi-Fi, so you may want to download music, books or other entertainment to your devices before your trip.
The Palm Springs train station (PSN) is located near the intersection of North Indian Canyon Drive and Palm Springs Station Road, about 5 miles north of Palm Springs. It is an open-air platform with only a roof for shelter. The station is not staffed, offers no services, and does not have any facilities, so be sure to use the restroom on the train before you disembark.
Passengers taking Amtrak to Palm Springs have three dining options: traditional dining in the dining car, light meals and snacks in the café car, and personal food and beverages at your seat or in the café car. The traditional dining service includes chef-prepared meals served on real plates with glassware and metal cutlery. The four-person tables are community tables (so parties of two are seated with two additional people). The café car serves snacks and light meals as well as beverages (including beer and wine). Passengers may also bring their own drinks and food as long as it doesn’t need to be heated or refrigerated. You may bring your own alcohol on board, which may only be consumed in the private rooms of the sleeper cars.
