don't go with ACE
Cons: it's off-site from the airport so you have to wait for a shuttle. when i arrived there were people that had been waiting a long time for the shuttle. i tried to call the ACE company and all i got was voicemails. so after waiting so long i ended up walking to NATIONAL and renting a car at the airport.

Pros: nothing bad experience
Cons: Was charged for returning the car 35 minutes late. I was not told that I would be charged for being late Then brought the sun pass was not told how much a day. When I called the agent seemed annoyed because I was asking questions. Don't rent from here Don't worth the headache.

Great value, easy pickup
Pros: These are great little cars perfect for tooling around the cities.
Cons: Someone had smoked in my car; the smell was overpowering.

Terrible- no shuttle service!
Cons: The shuttle never came to pick us up at the airport. We called ace 10x over the course of 20 minutes, but they don't pick up their phone. We finally gave up and rented from a different company. I called for a refund, and they refused. Don't book with them.

Pros: Great fast service. The guy upgraded us to a minivan from a car because of all are baggage for hardly any up charge. Shuttle service from the airport to the rental car was so easy! Talk to William and he will hook you up!

Pros: Nice vehicle, upgraded for free.
Cons: The original rental cost was $126.28 for the week, I declined insurance since my credit card covers me, I included extra driver @ about $40. When car was returned there were so many additional charges it could choke a horse. They added insurance I declined originally and couldn't take off (no manager). Total rental ended up being over $320...

Cons: I didn't know I would be charged for the gas or I would have brought it back empty. Instead I brought it back at the same level as I got it. It should be full out and full in.

ACE staff unprofessional
Pros: The rental car was clean.
Cons: ACE staff were unprofessional. All of the customers in the waiting area to pick up cars were unhappy and frustrated with their experience for different reasons. Then the employees were interrupting each other about personal matters while we were trying to get our rental. 30 minutes after leaving with our rental, the employees called us to tell us that one of them left their phone in the car and pretty much demanded we return with the phone. We received little thanks.

Great price, great experience
Pros: The price was great. The car was perfect for our family of four and they gave us the perfect car seat ($15 a day), but still it was exactly what we needed.
Cons: You do have to take a shuttle from fort Myers airport to get there, where other rental car places were right at the airport. This turned to be a positive when we left because the shuttle dropped us off right at curbside for southwest and we checked our bags and got our plane tickets in a matter of minutes.

Pros: Absolutely nothing. Not even the cheap price after the dismal experience picking up and returning the car.
Cons: Ignore their aggressive pricing and go to the next best price option. Pick up probably took at least 1.5 hours. It felt like maybe this was their first day of business--it was that slow and disorganized. The same people were proceeding pick ups and returns. Three out of four staff were unpleasant and nonchalant and the service. They blamed flight delays due to fog for causing several flights to arrive at same, causing their long pick up process, yet when I returned car the process and line was the same. Kayak, you should not partner with such a business, at least not this specific location. Try mystery shopping it or something. It reflects poorly on Kayak.

Ace understaffed, plus surprise charges!
Pros: The car was decent -- Hyundai Elantra. The agent was swamped but he was nonetheless very pleasant and efficient. I felt very sorry for him considering how many people were waiting in line.
Cons: Big pileup at the shuttle to rental -- very disorganized with people cutting in line. Basically it was a free for all. Then at the agency, there was a line of 6 people and only one agent. Each rental was taking about 10 minutes (not the lone agents fault) but by the time I got out, almost an hour had passd, and the line was now longer than 10 deep. Since all these people had reservations, they were not properly manned. Agent seemed unsure if he had enough cars for all the reservations, so I immediately took what he offered. A car with PREPAID gas. He told me to bring it back empty. Later, an agent on the phone said to bring it back exactly as I received it, FULL. This is a difference of more than $25. I was also charged $300 deposit which I have not been reimbursed for yet. And I am not sure they calculated in the deposit i paid online when i made the online reservation. I will never usr a 2nd or 3rd tier rental company again, because basically there is no recourse. Also, when I called Ace on the phone, I was connected to a recording which said its phonemail was full and couldn't take messages. Yet more evidence of understaffing or incompetence. Hey, I know it was spring break, but good companies prepare for peaks in business, and crappy companies don't.

Pros: Fast shuttle. Nice car. Typical rental experience.
Cons: The pick up procedure was a bit unorganized.

Pros: The price was ~20% below the competition.
Cons: Located off airport and forced to wait for a shuttle. Unprofessional staff. "We don't have gas pumps, so your car has 1/4 tank of gas to begin", and the car smelled like cigarettes.

Pros: Picked up in Ft Myers at the airport-location was close to the airport. Shuttle driver was friendly and van was clean. Got upgraded from a Toyota Yaris to a 2016 Mustang Convertible for only a small upgrade fee. Everyone was very kind. Returned in Orlando-super easy and fast. No problems. No secret charges. Cheapest by far. Look forward to renting again.

gave me a vehicle with empty gas warning light on
Pros: the people who work at ACE were very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, including the shuttle driver.
Cons: they told us our car had "1/8th of a tank" of gas, they have no pump on site, and and that was all i needed to bring it back with. i turned on the car and the empty tank warning light was already on. i had to drive back the airport to fill up, in the opposite direction I was going. this was a frustrating waste of time. i would not rent from them if you are in any sort of a rush. it also took time to get the car (long line, one person working there). we were then left on your own to wander the lot to try to find car (no spot numbers etc).

Bait and switch
Cons: Package was for SUV.Did not have oneCar pick up was off site and shuttle wait was about fifteen minutes after we found the pick up place at the far end of the airport behind the garage. One person working the counter and told us the wrong location of the car in. BIG lot. Thanks to the employee who saw us trying to find the car and helped find it.

Pros: The car was new and drove nicely.
Cons: 1. Had to leave a $300.00 deposit. This was a surprise and not communicated beforehand on booking through Kayak. I have NEVER had to leave a deposit with any other car rental before. 2. Price was higher than what my printed receipt from Kayak showed. I added a second driver, but even without the added charges for the 2nd driver, the price was still higher than originally booked. I didn't have time to argue with the clerk, so I paid it, but will never book through Kayak again, nor will I rent from ACE again. 3. Car was dirty on both passenger front and back seats. (full of leaves on the floor both front and back. 4. Clerk on drop off was extraordinarily unfriendly.

Poorly staffed -- very time consuming experience
Pros: Cheap by couple dollars. convenient pick-up/drop-off facility
Cons: Very poorly staffed. Only Two people on the desk managing to handle car pick-up and drop-off customers. 2 people doing following work; inspect drop off cars paper work of the drop off cars Drive the dropped cars to the parking lot. paper work of new car pick-up (which takes huge amount of time) Walk you down to the parking lot to show you the car and its features. Return back to help lobby full of customers. In their defense, The desk attendants were trying their best . Still took more than hour to process only 4 customers before me. I can just imagine the frustration on the face of 10 others standing behind me. This is clearly the worst management I have seen.

No cars available
Pros: Very nice shuttle driver
Cons: When we arrived to the facility we waited in line for approx 30-45 min only to be announced at that time that the company was out of all cars. We had to take the shuttle back to the airport to get a different rental for over double the price for a walk up price. This is all after we had a reservation. Terrible experience. Not worth the better price.

Unexplained 2nd charge after I returned a replacem
Cons: After a "catastrophic" flat tire at high speed, I got a replacement vehicle which had an almost "empty" gas tank and was very dirty! After I returned this replacement vehicle (I was a day late, which was an error on my part!) I asked the Manager of the Ace office if he could discount the extra day for me .... as a good will gesture for the above mentioned flat tire - which very easy could have resulted in injury to me, or damage to the car + the in convenience of changing the tire on a busy main street!. In the end, approx 1/2 of my $200 deposit was credited to my credit card BUT, after I returned to my home and 3 days later,, I noticed a 2nd unexplained Charge of $170.99 to my credit card. I have left a message for the Manager, Mr. Gary Lewis but - as of today (12/13 - 7 days after the posting of the unexplained charge - I still have not gotten any response from the Ace folks!!

Pros: When I arrived I called and told me that they had no car for me or in the parking lot and to go elsewhere even though I gave my amex when I requested the car and purchased the insurance. I will never rent a car ever from ace or online.

Upgraded at no extra charge
Pros: Arrived at ACE and had more luggage than would fit in car. They upgraded us to full size SUV at no extra charge. Took minutes to pickup and return car and no hard sell. Shuttle arrived promptly both ways and very courteous staff. Prices far better than the big guys.
Cons: Long walk from terminal to shuttle was only downside.
