We stayed on New Years Eve at the Hotel Aiken. It is within walking distance to several bars and restaurants. We stayed on the 3rd floor and the room was super clean and the staff was all very nice. Breakfast was great. Will stay again for sure!

Staff was very good and helpful. Not really a hotel, it's a run down motel in downtown Aiken. The sink vanity was only 30 inches high, the cold water did not work but was later fixed, had to hold the toilet handle down thirty seconds for it to flush. Fridge did not work, ETC...
It was interesting to enjoy the 'ambiance' of a hotel built in 1898, but it needed a lot of help. Though there has been some updating, a lot more needs to be done. The elevator to the upper floors is too small and doesn't work right all the time. The staff has to operate it, which is a pain on them and the guests. It MUST be fixed--not only for convenience, but SAFETY. Ice was only available by the staff.
The furnishings need to be updated.
