Kindness and availability of the staff. Nothing in particular.
Very nice and attentive personell. The room was clean and quiet. In the middle of the town centre and short distance to (free) busses to the start of mountain paths.
Price goodstaff very very very good To noisy courtyard thin walls very hot rooms on top floor
Our stay was very brief, but thoroughly enjoyable and the staff were most helpful and pleasant. Our room was very good. We are very surprised it is only 1 star... N/a
Good location, nice atmosphere, very friendly staff.
Hotel very well located, very nice staff giving precious advises to visit the city. Free bus ticket and room perfect. No air conditioning.
the furniture inside the room...and also the breakfast. the tv's poorness...
Excellent service - staff went out of their way to help, even though they had limited english.
Lovely town, great location, friendy staff No
Room and price
The hotel was used soley as a one night stop-over with late arrival. Not an ideal stay for a review Romm and bathroom were well furnished with pleasant attractive and out of the ordinary decor. Bathroom was well equipped but shower arrangement was impractical causing some flooding
A super deal in every respect-we would go again
Decor and bathroom, location
Room is small. It was noisy in the morning due to the nearby street.
There was a fine atmosphere at the reception when we came, and that lastet during all our stay. We appriciate that.
Nice little hotel to stay in, and in summer would be lovely just about beside the lake.
Small, welcoming hotel
Good location, close to the lake and restaurant. Easy to get to (10 minutes by taxi from train station)
Superb position beside the lake and ready access to a number of good restaurants. Good bathroom.
The staff where very polite and helpful. The rooms where comfortable and quiet.
Pleasant hotel with an excellent ratio quality/price.
calm and quiteness, silence, good service
Staff were excellent, the triple room was very large, food great but our stary was only a stop over while driving from Italy to Wales so arrived late & left early next day. Would have like to have stayed longer.
the ambiance is very good and i like the fireplace
Very specious room. Airconditioning made a bit of noise, yet it was not too hot outside, so we had the fan on "low" and not a lot of noise was made... Liked the look of the room: clean, modern without too much things but all basics were there. Quite contemporary look.... Did not use the restaurant but it looks really nice.... Lot of business people.... It's amazing to see that the shower did not have a bar to put shower head. When taking a shower you actually had to hold the hose with your hand...! Is this a way of "saving" water? Really unacceptable for this hotel... I took a bath instead, which consumes even more water...
restaurant directions were poor...lack of facilities in room e.g. no hair dryer
We like the comfortable and spacious triple room, the free Wi-Fi and the great pool set in a lovely garden. The receptionist was very helpful and polite. Breakfast a bit expensive for what was on offer
The windows were open and the smell of fresh cut grass outside. We booked 4 rooms for 3 nights and we chose this hotel for the free wi-fi access and we were told at check in that the free wi-fi internet access was not working and would be working the next day. The next day at 4 pm we were told the wi-fi was still not working and might be working the next day and we needed the internet access for business immediately. I went and got rooms at another hotel and checked out and they wanted to charge us for the entire booking of 3 days for 4 rooms. We worked it out eventually but we were very disappointed with the hotel. They are no longer Best Western and the rooms are very dark and the furniture old and there was mold in one of the bathtubs caulking.
The reception peoples don't speak English (Not everybody). He didn't understand the room numbers! The internet booking letter wrote Total costs EURO 210.00 (3 nights) and "forgot" this not included the breakfast. He wrote: Standard Twin Room, extra bed is more cost. And I need pay EURO 262.20 It's not correct. The beds are very hard. The bathromm service is terrible ( the bath is very small,...)
location and price it was not air conditioned and no fan was available. Also it was a big deal to borrow a hair dryer from the front desk. The hotel seemed to be for old ladies on pensions which made it a quiet place but we prefer a greater diversity of clientele.
The tv screen was too small
Close to the Casino and the promenade. Staff very helpful. Spacious room and clean. Also the Jazz festival was on at the time - brilliant. No hotel parking available (full). parking in the town very expensive. the best I found was at the casino at 1 franc per hour (24 per day or £12). Hotel staff recommended the forum car park but that was more expensive!
Very well located, close to the Congress Center. Free internet.
The building and rooms are a little old, minor details like painting not perfect an old TV, small indoor swimingpool, etc. But well located and excellent breakfast
Good location, plenty of secure parking and friendly front-desk staff. Getting served dinner after 830pm can prove very difficult. The restaurant serves until 10pm, however, because the restuarant is too small for the number of guests one is forced to wait a very long time to secure a table. For young children having to wwait can prove to be traumatic.
For a wedding
Comfort and good service To charge 18 euros for an ordinary breakfast of fruit juice, coffee and a piece of pastry is outrageous. We had to find alternatives elsewhere.
This is not a four star hotel. 3 stars would be more appropriate. The hotel rooms need refurbishing, furniture, carpet , are getting old . Wallpaper is coming off the waal.... Despite that is was a non-smoking room, the smell indicated heavy smoking in the room .
The beds were too firm
The location is good. But that's only the beginning, with hotels... The bed was the worst and most uncomfortable bed that we ever slept in, and the lady on reception didn't seem the slightest bit interested to hear about that. We checked out of the hotel and stayed another two nights in this town, but at another hotel.
We only stayed 1 night but all staff were extremely nice and helpful particularly as I lost my mobile during our time there and they were most kind when I telephoned and they have posted it back to me.Thank you and we would most definitely stay again.
Comfortable room and nice people. It's a cute city. It doesn't have elevators.
Good location; excellent service; good value; undergoing needed restoration Limited parking
Friendly and helpful staff. Good sized family room. Warm and comfortable but basic. Ideal for overnight stop.
The location was ideal for what I required. a little dated could do with a lick of paint. Breakfast a little dissapointing
We loved the hotel, and the owner was very welcoming and gave us a lovely room with high ceilings and a spotless shower. The toilet was shared (we got a budget room) but that was spotless as well. Right in the center of Aix les Bains. Highly recommened for a budget traveler. Beautiful old building, well maintained, beautifully decorated. Bed a little on the soft side, but no complaints in other respects.
The location is excellent, a short walk from the train station and touristic attractions. The staff is friendly, helpful and hospitable and the hotel is clean, family oriented, with a good vibe about it.
Friendly staff Separate bathroom
the building is beautiful and the location is good The decor is very tired. Although the sheets appeared clean they were holed and darned and when I turned them back I found a silverfish running about and then a flea jumped on me!!!
Beds are horrible for another age. Room without window just roof top window. Not that nice for a so called familly room.
Hotel was clean and very good value for money. Kind of a mix between old world charm and budget. Furniture is pre 1950's and building was build in another era (1930's). 2 mins walk from the station. Shower was small even though the rest of the room was very large. Had that shower curtain "cling" problem and the shower head didn't fix to the wall.
This was our second stay and as usual we received a lovely welcome, we would definately recommend this hotel!
close to the centre of town ,short walk to the shops, parking opposite the hotel. room 1 ,balcony looked on to hedge.
Lovely town, beatiful surrounds, quiet but near the town. Friendly staff and helpful. Comfortable room. No shower to stand in. Little basic for the price.
The service was nice and friendly, and it was very close to the city. Food was not very nice and the rooms were quite uncomfortable.
Nice clean hotel but How many hotels in this day and age do not have a restaurant or bar This hotel is obviously a summer hotel. It needs to maintain its standards all year round
Nice clean hotel with good parking facilities, Key to our decision to stay here. Food in resataurant was very poor. Waited almost an hour for main course and was then hard (Duck). Waiters do not speak English either.
Confortable room- nice to extend your journey if you like for a special price The staff is not speaking English fluently- the use of the facilities should be for free for the customers of the hotel and open also in the evening
no problems the hotel was resonable price clean & friendly. walking distance from aix town centre. restaurant overpriced
The personnel were friendly. The restaurant service in the sister hotel was friendly but very much cafeteria quality. We were served by five different staff. The minute you were finished your course your next course was served by another member of staff with no time to relax between courses.. The overall experience in the restaurant was appalling. I feel qualified to make these comments as I have had and run my own rerestau
We booked the hotel for 2 nights, but could stand it only for one (extremely noisy location, no condition, bad chemical smell). The personnel was nice and understanding and refunded us the second nice (and paid some compensation!). So we moved to Villa Marlioz 5 min away, which is lovely! I would keep only the seconf part of this hotel (ARIANA 4*), and simply close this one, as it is not suitable for holidays
Nothing The room was so dirty my child had an asthma attack, and only after changing 3 beds he felt a relief. The experience was shocking!!!
Budget hotel, good for stopover. View to the mountains. No restaurant, the nearby brasserie was closed.
Very close to airport - comfortable rooms - good value breakfast
This is the most awful hotel that I have ever stayed in ,house keeping a joke. could go on but enough to say bookings .com should not have it on there books, your standards are much higher. This hotel has a serious problem with housekeeping from bad smells to a leaky saniflow in bedroom, broken showers dust on ledges no toilet paper holdersbedside lights that are not working. we changed rooms. and it was more of the same. drop this hotel
honest friendly staff easy to find good location for overnight stay
It's location and the price If the drain in the bathtub was open there was sometimes a sewer smell in the room; the wifi did not work well in the evening (during peak use).
Room and bathroom were clean. Breakfast was extra but a reasonable selection. No bar facilities, we arrived at around 9pm and there was literally nothing to do and nowhere to buy refreshments. The TV had a selection of channels available, our 11 year old son discovered the soft porn on channel 14. Perhaps some sort of warning or blocking system would be useful.
Nice staff. It is difficult to sleep becaus of too much noise from other rooms, from people using toilets, bathroom, walking, etc.at night. The bed is too short for my husbond (1,90 m).
location near to aix le baines
Nice clean hotel with little brasserie next door that provided good food at reasonable price. Free wifi on request of a code worked well.
The staff were very friendly and the room was quiet. I would not class this Mercure as 4 star. It is very tired, and quite a way from both the lake and the city. The food was very average.
Clean and welcoming. Cot provided automatically (although we indicated that we would bring our own) at no charge. Good stopover hotel. Swimming Pool included in information, but costs 10 EUR person/day. Description generous - playing fields and busy (noisy) road adjacent. Quite a way from both lake and town.
i have stayed in Aix Les Bains before but always in the centre of town. this hotel is a further out and a lot quieter as it is back from the main road, so for peaceful stay this is a very good hotel.
It wasn't the easiest hotel to find
Could not buy a snack, very impersonal
Good location, spaceful room. I brought my swimsuit for spa, but they did not allow me to wear it, and forced us to buy sandal according to their rule.. so finally it costed more than 30 Euro/person just to enter spa area! You had better check their rule before going. Room maintainence and restaurant are poor for four-star hotel.
We stay every year if we can book in, en-route to the Alps. We love the local food in the restuarant - good value and the friendly welcome. We love the local Market, which we visit every year to buy local specialties to take to our mountain retreat!! We also love the dog - on guard on the patron's chair!! We want to visit too in summer if we can. I can't recommend this hotel - because we want to save it for ourselves & make sure we can book in next year!! (we couldn't get the dates we wanted last year & had to go to a more expensive but inferior hotel).
Clean, neat and tidy Nothing
The staff were very friendly and the hotel had a relaxed family feel to it. They spoke English too. Their puppy Bobby was very cute too! The price was very reasonable. Rooms were a little hot at night but then it was very warm weather when we were there. Can't expect air con at such a budget price.
Central location Heating is not efficient, it was so cold that me and my wife used 4 blanchets
The hotel staff was very kind - The hotel was not clean, nor did I feel safe and I will not stay there again
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The location was excellent, being on the doorstep of shops, etc. The lake is about a 20 minute walk away. The hotel was fairly quiet and the room comfortable. It was a shame that the breakfast was not included in the hotel price, and for the cost of 8 euros, the choice was very limited for that price and I don't believe was worth it.
Centrally situated, good value, private parking. Very compact bathroom.
Excellent free internet
The hotel is near the center, 15 minutes walking. It has a good price. It has free parking. The room and above all the bathroom are vey small. The smell when you enter the main door deter you from eating there. The parking was full when we arrived at the hotel, so we had to park the car outside.
It was a cheap hotel close in the center of Aix Les Bains. A reasonable price for offered services. Old bathroom. Watter seemed to be leaking.
Very pleasant lady in a reception! Hotel in an old building with a romantic atmosphere. 6 free parking slots, close to a railway station, close to a centre, good choice. No lift, but it's a minor issue.
Very kind staff, good breakfast, quiet room
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. She was waiting for us in the lobby even though we arrived late to the hotel. The hotel was pretty clean and comfortable. It was acceptable an acceptable quality for the price (38 euros for one night). There were only 6 places to park in the small area in front of the hotel, but there were plenty of places to park on the street, and it was free because it was Sunday. The Annapolis is right on the edge of the main part of town, within walking distance from everything. Our room was attached to a large balcony. We did not hear any noise from other guests during our stay, but I don't know if there were many people at the hotel. We had a bathroom in our room (our room was a double). The bathroom floor had a few dirty footprints. The bed and sheets seemed clean but the pillow was one long pillow that was very hard. (We brought our own pillows so it did not matter.) The room was very small. Just outside our window and across the street is the train station, so there was some noise from trains (it did not keep us awake though).
very well situated, close to train station
the hotel manager is so friendly and helpfull .the hotel is very well maintain.near the center of the city. nothing-all was great!
nice hotel, old style, not the boring standard. And cheap. My second year here.
nice city, quiet room. Cheap price. Original athmosphere.
It is very central, near to the main square, shopping, parks, and right next to the baths. It is very cheerfully decorated and they have made the most of the oldish building without actually thoroughly modernising it. Parking is difficult, but they do have a garage behind the hotel in which you can leave your car for 4 euros per night.
The price and the food in the restaurant, I had a steak and it was excellent The room needed renovation and the bed was just adequate. Soft
The owners were helpful, even though they spoke only French, and we don't speak good French. They were friendly and funny and made us feel welcome. The hotel is close to the mountains and is within easy reach of several airports. The weather was nearly 40 deg c, well above normal as this area is surrounded by mountains, and there was no air conditioning .
The food was generally very good. The pool was lovely too Some unpleasant teenagers in the pool on the Saturday evening who spoilt the relaxing atmosphere. The food was good except for the vegetables. Regards question 4, I'm not sure if we are a young couple (probably not at nearly 50) but I didn't like to have to select mature couple!
The hotel did not offer any non smoking rooms. The room we stayed in stank of stale smoke and no alternative was available. The pool was pleasant but lack of changing rooms was inconvenient. At breakfast, by 8.30, the croissants had run out managed to serve some more 15 minutes later! see above.
no clock in the wellness area, WiFi too expensive.
No tea/coffee making facilities
Its a nice hotel, nothing special. Cause of a fire the swimmingpool and other spa facilities arent open. Grund floor/reception is very nice modern and clean. Room could use an upgrade.
Very comfortable and clean, extremely good value for money. Underground garage available. Pet friendly. Quiet although in the center of the town. Very rich breakfast. Deserves four stars.
Restaurant was good. Room was not as good as expected, and not as good as web suggested.
Peace and quiet n/a
Staff were pleasant, helpful in storing our bikes securely.Breakfast was good value. No airconditioning so stifling hot all day and all night. Electrical fire meant no swimming pool/ spa and no restaurant bar during our stay (no discount) which was poor.
quiet room to rear of hotel.numerous restaurants beside and below rooms.attentive owner.lots of parking.the town seemed pleasant on brief visit. breakfast fine but a little limited in choice.
Lakeside location and very helpful, friendly proprietor. The tiny room, with a tiny bathroom no plug for the bath and no shower bracket on the wall.
Easy to find, very friendly staff. Shame the hotel wasn't a bit closer to the historic centre of Laon. We almost didn't book as the initial details of the hotel stated there was no on-site parking - but in fact there was loads!
Easy to find just out of town. Excellent location beside the lake and overlooking magnificent mountains. Budget-priced and reasonable value for money. Adequate car parking. Good restaurants adjacent to the hotel. There is a busy main road between the hotel and the lake, and there is nowhere to get away from traffic at the lakeside since there is no shore. Hotel reception staff do not speak English. The main front door is locked after 9pm, and PIN-accessed night entrance is located at the side of the hotel; this location is not obvious enough for non-French speaking guests.
Low rate The reception was closed early in the afternoon, so I could not check-in until 4pm. My room was very dark with almost no natural light and view. TV remote was not working probably due to flat batteries.
Nothing No bath towels and only one minimal hand towel. The room was minimal and a terrible smell of mould. When we arrived at 10.30 pm ( we called in advance to inform about late arrival) the owner said that we do not have a reservation. But after showing our confirmation he did let us in. And when we checked out he charged us € 68,- instead of € 58,- and I am convinced it was not by mistake. Avoid this hotel.
We liked our room which was clean and newly renovated. The breakfast buffet was good and at a reasonable price. To walk to the city centre takes about 30 minutes because there is no shortcut possible.
If you want to visit Aix-les-Bains, don't stay at this hotel. It is away from the main, and old, part of the town which is not accessible by foot. If you want to view the Lac de Bourget and the mountains from your terrace it's fine, so long as you don't mind the continuous raor of the traffic on the main road (dual carriageway) in betwee hotel and lake. There is no restaurant and the food in the recommended eatery next door is very ordinary if filling. see previous comments
