Location, good breakfast and breakfast takeaway. Good staff, nice restaurant. One of only two good downtown hotels. Entrance to restaurant: seems dark and uninviting, actually i thought it was closed from outside.
Close to great bars and restaurants I thought the parking fee was included, it is not. But it's only $15 , so no big deal .
Needed a place to accommodate family for Thanksgiving week. The rooms were very clean, the staff very friendly, the lounge and restaurant were great, and breakfast was delicious. Plus they cleared the snow off our car in valet.
The night we stayed wasn't very busy, so we were upgraded from a 2 Queen Standard to a 2 Queen Suite for no additional cost. Staff was very pleasant and helpful, and free breakfast was substantial.
Location - close to the 'downtown' area where some restaurants were actually open at 9 pm - Albany is a sleepy town...four downhill blocks from the egg, conference center and capitol - OK to walk around no pool, web site incorrectly states no parking fee, whereas the 15 USD are un-avoidable, standard breakfast, expensive per night, even during the week, overpriced to cater to the business folks...
Excellent service by front desk staff, particularly Steve, who went out of his way to be of assistance. Made the stay more than a chain hotel even None
We were attending a show at the Palace Theatre and the hotel was conveniently close by. The hotel was nice, clean, and provided a good selection at the complimentary breakfast. Pay for parking
Extremely easy to get to off the highway. As soon as we entered the lobby we were impressed with the hotel. It was fairly luxurious compared to anything we had seen in this modest price range. There were two very rapid moving elevators, a beautiful room with only one drawback. The room temperature was set at 66 when we walked in, and it took a while to get the heat up to 72, which was as high as we got it to go, despite setting it at 75. The breakfast was very good. Lots of choices as expected, including fresh fruit, make your own waffles, hot sausages, omelettes and home fries. Many cereals and other fare. The staff was excellent, calling into our room after a short time to see how we were doing. I would DEFINITELY stay there again should the need to go to Albany arise. The typical wall unit for a/c and heat found in virtually all hotels these days took its time to warm up the room.
The Hampton Inn facility and staff was excellent When I showed up the hotel did not have my reservation as it was never forwarded by the booking company. The hotel and all others around downtown were sold out. No other suitable options could be found and I was left to find a hotel several miles away on my own. A very poor experience with Kayak and hotels.com
Ideal location for seeing a show at The Palace. Valet guys and front desk were super friendly and accomodating. A+
The staff were perhaps the nicest people I have met in hotel hospitality in a long time. Everyone....and I mean everyone (doorman, check in gal, breakfast hostess, check out guy) was happy and helpful. Although there is no restaurant in the hotel, that was not a problem. I was given a "goodie" bag upon arrival with bottled water, Oreo cookies and potato chips. There were also large cookies available and I was told that snacks and desserts would be available later in the evening. The complimentary breakfast was perfect: eggs, sausage, waffle station, whole fruit, fruit salad, cold cereals, yogurts, all kinds of bagels and breads. Also a perfect location for the Capital Rep Theatre.
Comfort of bedding. Accommodating staff Looks ready to close. No amenities stated on website are any longer available. Restaurant closed down in January as did the lounge. My son said he felt like we were in an abandoned haunted hotel
Loved the inside of the place and the location.
Loved the big bed, huge tub and the fireplace. The location was convenient for all downtown activities including the Times Union Center. It was being updated during our stay but it really wasn't a big deal.
Great spot in albany, only 1/2 mile walk to the palace, plenty of great spots to eat & historic buildings to explore. Room was updated & very clean. Bed was super comfortable & even though hotel fully booked, I didn't hear a thing all night. Staff super friendly, cookies & tea/coffe in lobby & water & snacks given on check in. Some parking out front or convenient valet. I will definitely stay at 74 state anything in albany.
Good location. Close to restaurants. Friendly staff. The rooms have been updated and are quite comfortable. The hotel room have all been renovated but the lobby area is still under renovation which really isn`t a big deal if you don`t mind dust. The rooms could use grab bars in the shower and an extra night stand on both sides of the bed.
Location and comfortable Price lol, they were doing construction at the time
The room was nice but the bed seemed smaller than a standard king. The breakfast was not very good at all, and swarmed by fruit flies. The hotel is under construction which is fine, but less than ideal.
Location was great, nice bar, staff was pleasant. AC was not working well, can't open windows, toilet didn't flush well, not enough luxury for the money spent. I will not go back.
Front desk staff was not informative about facilities / hotel stay.
We stayed at the hotel over the 4th of July weekend, and we were given a room on the upper floor facing the capital, so that we could see the fireworks. The hotel has a nice indoor pool, but because the heat was not working well and the water was pretty cold, our kids spent a lot of time playing in the hot tub (which was warm but not hot). The fireworks were fantastic from the hotel, even with a slightly obstructed view. With our youngest one asleep, it was perfect to be able to stay in the hotel with the older one, who could go right to sleep when it was over. We ordered room service twice, and it was a challenge both times to be understood by the person taking the order. One time we were bounced around on the phone and had to give the order to three different people. There are a variety of fees for room service, including an 18% "service charge" that the menu says is not a gratuity but that comes up on the bill as a gratuity, so it was unclear whether we needed to add an additional tip for the server.
The staff was very nice and the beds were very comfortable. It was located close to where we needed to go and room service food was wonderful! I did not appreciate how expensive the room was for what it was! The bathroom was the smallest room I have ever seen! And when you pay almost 300$ a night for a room you should not have to 0pay 15$ to park your vehicle! I have stayed at other Hilton's that were much nicer and cheaper!
