Pros: The room was nice.
Cons: The AC was not working.
Pros: Surprisingly modern inside but didn't spoil the look of the original village houses
Pros: They really went out of their way to help make our stay memorable, Very helpful and the food is exceptional too.
Pros: We visit this “the smallest village ever” for 5 years and always for a couple of nights with rented car. There is so much places to go by car in France and Spain and you can also visit Andorra. This place is in calm location in the heart of Pyrenees Orientales. They have very good foods, some dogs and a little farm. It is something for your soul when you really need to work in some inspirational and calm place or just relax.
Pros: Superb position, comfortable room, friendly helpful staff.
Pros: Good modern clean room - good value - and very hearty rustic dinner
Cons: Breakfast was difficult - no menu and waitress spoke no English (and little French). We do not speak Spanish or Catalan. We ended up with half a breakfast between us!
Hotel-Restaurante La Quadra is located in the picturesque village of Maçanet de Cabrenys, a medieval town, with characteristic long and winding roads set in the mountains of the Alt Empordà. This family-run hotel offers a relaxing getaway in the clean mountain air. During the summer you can take a dip in the village’s outdoor swimming pool, stroll through the hotel gardens or simply relax on the terrace. In the evening you can try the home-made local cuisine in the hotel restaurant and go up to admire the impressive panoramic views from the hotel’s terrace on the third floor.
Pros: Everything was perfect. Food is wonderful, service very friendly. Very clean throughout. Can’t fault it. Location is beautiful too. Should be 4 star really. Will definitely book again. Highly recommend trying their veal steak for dinner.
Cons: That I couldn’t stay longer
Pros: Nice village, nature.
Cons: We had half pension. Breakfast was not bad, no eggs. Dinner was not special. WiFi, poor signal in our room. Hotel rather difficult to reach with our minibus, narrow streets.
Pros: Very friendly staff, great food and wine, beautiful region
Pros: A wonderful hotel set in the delightful village of Macanet de Cabrenys in the Pyrenees. Excellent value for money. The meals were varied with many local dishes - all extremely good value. We loved our stay there. The staff were well trained and friendly.
Pros: The staff are very friendly and efficient. Restaurant has a vast choice and food very good. A bonus it opens at 7.30pm unlike lots of restaurants in the area. Opt for a superior room, it is worth the money. Plenty of large parking spaces, mostly covered.
Cons: The access is challenging through narrow medieval streets but not really a problem.
Pros: This well-run hotel with beautiful views and situated at the centre of the village offers an excellent evening meal and a fantastic breakfast, both with gluten-free and vegetarian options. The fish we had in the evening was superb and the goats cheese starter was to die for. The meal together with the spacious hotel room was offered at a reasonable price. We liked it here very much and shall definitely return.
Cons: We liked everything here.
Pros: Thé staff was amazing thé restaurant is excellent and thé location wonderful

Pros: This place was out in the country which was a welcome environment. The owners were very nice and the room was very clean as was the bathroom. Breakfast was adequate. Be sure to visit the small miniatures museum in Besalu.
Cons: Not a big deal but was expecting the location to be in Besalu. One mapping app showed it in Besalu. But there is ample parking at the bridge in Besalu so driving into town was not a problem.
Cons: Anna is a wonderful woman. Every thing is clean. Magnificent place for those who travelling by car in Besalu region.
Pros: Warm welcome, quiet setting. Access to public pool across the street. Close to Besalu and hiking in the mountains.
Cons: Really hot weather with no AC made some moments u comfortable. Would have loved some fruit at breakfast but the orange juice was delicious.
Pros: It was spotlessly clean. The staff were very attentive, right across the road from the public pool. Very quiet at night. Staff were very accommodating
Cons: Absolutely nothing.

Pros: Lovely, peaceful location just on the outskirts of Maçanet de Cabrenys. All the amenities you need, cozy little chalets. Managed by a family, all very helpful and kind. I had a great few days. For mountain bikers, great spot to lodge with some great trails all around.
Pros: Fantastic location, great swimming pool. Quiet and spacious camping. Fresh bungalows in the shade. Good restaurant in the camping.
Cons: Very little explanations from the personnel working there. The kitchen on the bungalow was very basic.

Pros: The best part of our stay was the hospitality from Stephan who went above and beyond to welcome us. We also loved breakfast, the beautiful facilities (the house is stunning) and tranquility of the area. Stephan sold us a fantastic bottle of wine as well. Overall, it was a lovely weekend getaway. We would definitely go back.
Cons: Minor details: the jets in our spa bath weren't functioning and we would have preferred light bedding (instead of blankets/duvets) in the summer heat. Also, I can't fault the hotel, but there were many flies at breakfast disturbing guests. Perhaps the owners can explore ways to solve this.
Pros: Beautifully restored and decorated. Excellent parking facilities. Fantastic location and fabulous host - thank you Stephan. The hotel and village are easy to find on good roads but our sat nav took us off-road and up a mountain track! Great opportunity for some off road adventures before we were rescued by the lovely Hussan who guided us back down the mountain to the hotel which we discovered we’d driven past earlier!!
Pros: The great estate in the authentic medieval village in the peaceful and charming surrounding. Pure personalized service, warm and super friendly atmosphere of the family house. Modern and creative cuisine with twists of Catalan traditional food cooked from fresh farm products.
Cons: It was too short. We dream to come back to this hotel
Pros: Everything within our stay was top . From the excelent breakfast to the amazing dinner( highly recomended) . The room was beautifull decorated , the swiming pool a perfect size for the capacity of the hotel and last but not least the STAR of our stay Stephan !!! He made us feel welcomed and nothing was to much trouble. The true definition of what an host should act like !!***** 5 Star keep it up you guys do an amazing job :)
When you stay at Hotel Alta Garrotxa in Tortella, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Viejo Bridge in Besalú and Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
Pros: Hotel room was clean and everything was in good condition. The breakfast was very good (additional 5 Euros, not included as indicated in the description on Kayak). In the lobby they have tourist information about the local area
Cons: There was no one at the hotel when we arrived, just a sign with a number to call. However, our phones didn't work since we're from out of the country, and there was no phone available in the lobby. We had to go out and wander the streets until we found someone with a cell phone, which took about 20 minutes since it's a very small town.
Pros: Very comfortable bed, the breakfast was very good and the coffee was excellent.
Cons: Parking was not near by.
Pros: Superb dinner for 15 eur
Cons: Parking not by the hotel.
Pros: The food in the restaurant I just delicious!!!! The staff is so kind. I felt like at home
Cons: Nothing at all, everything was just perfect
Pros: Lovely quiet location. Christina, the manager was very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our room with a terrace , giving us much more space to relax in than just the bedroom. WiFi connection was very good.
Cons: Hard to find anything that we didn't like. Bedroom could use a shelf or table to put things on but that's just a very minor quibble.
Pros: The location in the centre of the village
Cons: The mattress
Pros: Cristina is super kind and she will help you all the time!!!
Cons: I liked everything! Breakfasts high quality!!!
Pros: Lovely traditional small hotel. Friendly staff and great breakfast. Shame the restaurant was closed but we found good alternatives in nearby Besalú. Tortella is a very quiet town with few facilities but excellent base for seeing local sights and countryside.
Cons: The restaurant gets great reviews but was closed during our stay.

Pros: Loved the location and the staff was excellent. Also the dinner in the restaurant was excellent.
Cons: The standard room was uncomfortably small. Also the breakfast at 9 am was late. It would have been nicer to have it earlier.
Pros: The location is amazing, wild river in front of hotel, the nearby lake. Rooms are great, all day direct access to spa is very convenient. The staff is really and sincerely kind and make you feel at home. Bar service, beverage and tapes choices are perfect.
Cons: The restaurant is a bit pricey for the food as there's nothing else close to the hotel it can be annoying. The good choice is to bring some snack for a hiking lunch and have tapes on the evening.
Pros: Away from the stress - great place to relax and walk or bike in nature.
Pros: Staff that were there trying to do the best they could esp the chef who was cooking and serving . Where on earth was the manager I don't know or is there a manager? . Great food and wine and Isabella very good receptionist too always when there with a smile. Setting beautiful great places to find pools to swim in first thing in the morning . Loads of fabulous walks around
Cons: Trying to find staff to help waited over 20 minutes to order tapas until the man with a beard got fed up and went to find someone . One night wanted to dine outside to be told she was the only member of staff so ok to eat inside no problem but when paying that amount of money want to know where is everyone . One towel for 2 nights as forgot to mention it one night then when return late had a shower to find yet again one towel. Waking up early as no one explained that there was an extra curtain to block out the light until I discovered it by accident on the last night . Breakfast very basic fruit out of fridge so brown and tasteless . No fresh fruit juices or yogurts But kefir nice . Eggs scrambled like rubber no hot milk and the coffee machine limited. Spa sauna cold in the morning but warm at night . No water in the room to drink or slippers for the spa no candles lit at night on the tables no ambiance.
Pros: We greatly enjoyed the spa and hiking in the neerby cork oak forest. The staff was helpful and organization was seamless. It was also very clean and very peaceful, mostly couples on a getaway long weekend. Good value for money.
Cons: The breakfast was ok but could have been better in terms of variety and quality. While the area itself is super silent the rooms are not soundproof and you can hear people walking in the corridors, talking etc. It is pretty cut off from the villages around, so if you want to explore you end up driving quite a bit.

Pros: The service is personal and really first rate. Food is natural and produced locally. The owner takes time to explain all the how's and where's. And he gives very good advice on day-trips on foot, with history and all.
Pros: After a long hiking day one can not be more pleased as arriving at this wonderful place!! The owner is a very friendly guy and a passionate chef. Great vegan food! Great breakfast! Great conversations! On of the best accommodation on the GR11..
Pros: What a great experience!!! The alberg is on a lovely antique building in front of a plaza that is full of live and beauty. The views to the mountains, river and rest of the village are great. Albanyà encapsulates the dream of many travellers. Jordi, is running the place. He is an extraordinary Catalonian cook, very welcoming host and definitely a citizen of the world! I strongly recommend this place for resting, eating, drinking and living.

Pros: nature everywhere
Pros: The valley of the Muga River is an easily accessible location to explore the Emporda, take bike rides or hike. The beautiful town of Sant Llorenc is 5km away. After the sweltering crowded coast, it was a pleasure to spend some time at a beautiful old stone farmhouse with a gruff but charismatic owner. Breakfast was excellent & individually served. WiFi was available throughout the house. There is a full kitchen in an outer building next to the pool for those who prefer to cook for themselves. The pool looked nice, but we did not have time to use it. The price was a bargain.
Cons: Two bathrooms with showers were available on the corridor, not ensuite, for our room; this did not cause a problem for us but may for others.
Pros: Very clean, lot of peace and silence during the night, rich breakfast
Pros: Very friendly and helpful owners, they fetched me from the mountains after a (too) long hiking day and brought me to the town so that I could have dinner. A very quiet place with some night attractions: wild boars coming along :)

Cons: everything is perfect!!
Pros: A very interesting farm building with a vast collection of antiques arranged with admirably good taste around the house. A good cheff and lovely people working there.Peace, quiet and serenity and very close to Besalu by car.
Cons: Our bed was a very high bed. this was somewhat uncomfortable.
Pros: The owner and the staff are very friendly, helpful and warm. The dinner was always a culinary event. It is an old medieval casa which was completely renovated, but its medieval beauty was preserved. Each room has its unique design. It is definitely good choice
Pros: Great place to stay; very warm and welcoming staff; family run rural hotel
Cons: It can be very warm in some of the rooms at some times. There are vertilators available.
