Proximity to town/parking availability. Beds comfortable. Room had safe and minibar which I appreciate. Breakfast fine--typical swiss breakfast of meats/cheeses/breads/cereal/fruit/juice Shower. Our room had no ability to moderate temperature as the faucet only had a single handle regulate volume. This tended to be on the colder side. Also reading other reviews prior, I concur the side mounts (at least for shower head) is poorly placed and made a significant mess with water outside the tub. This is quite odd considering the sink has a simlar plumbing but does have separate hot/cold. For a short stay, I could deal with this but would not want this for a longer stay. View from room provided little privacy as looked out on driveway and could hear/see pedestrians walking by. Also rooms are very dimly lit, particularly with curtains closed.
Landscape, silence, relaxing place, pleasant atmosphere
Very quaint, simple hotel with friendly staff Slightly outside of town (2 min walk) and there are plenty of cuter hotels in town.
Great locationVery peaceful
The place and breakfast Nothing
Very close the Gruyere historical center and the the cheese production show room (5 min on foot to both). The breakfast was good: fresh food, good coffee. I think the rate is too high for this hotel. One is only paying for the location. I paid a price of a good 4* hotel, but this one is a medium 3*.The room is clean but feels old and very small. There is not enough light in the room - it's very dark.
Easy access to the town of Gruyere, peaceful position.
We were there during the "volcanic ash" disaster and due to this, no one else was there. We were treated so well, even got an upgrade as a gift. The staff was so friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was wonderful! Great views of the valley below from our room.
The hotel was charming and had the most beautiful views of the pre-alps, meadows, and herds of deer, cows, and goats. The continental breakfast was also lovely - try the hot chocolate! We booked a double room with a double bed and when we arrived they had pushed two twin beds together. The other couples we were staying with had normal double beds. It really put a damper on our anniversary.
The hotel and room had the perfect atmosphere for the medieval town. The views from the room were magnificent. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay! I would definitely recommend this hotel. There was nothing we were not satisfied with.
Very friendly helpful staff ; lovely views, central location, well furnished room - much nicer than expected !
convenient setting and pleasant room
The staff were very friendly and helpful
very nice people! we only been one night, but it was ideal for our purposes!
Centre of the town. best hotel in doex
Friendly and helpfull staff. Nice rooms and breakfast. Great location in the village.
Very peaceful and pleasant - staff very freinedly and helpful. Bar separate to hotel - not fitting to suroundings.
Friendly staff, free WI-FI, good location and price.
The room was clean and modern. Included continental breakfast was really very good - clasic Swiss style - breads, cheese, fruits were very high quality. It is everything I hoped it would be.
The hotel staff were very accommodating.Great for those who love mountains, skiing walking etc. Breakfast included. Not a huge variety but substantial.Chateau d'oex famous for it's balloon festival. Train running through the valley links all the resorts . The hotel was absolutely fine for the purpose we wanted.
Everything was well organized in the hotel, maybe too organized. During breakfast even the seats per room where planned. You were not allowed to sit on a table you have chosen yourself.
beautiful dining room with adequate breakfast. discount for cash. convenient location it was way overpriced. wanted double bed but got twins
Central location so no need to hire a car. Great internet access so you can keep emails up to date. Nice breakfast facilities. Stunning views of village and mountains. Staff very helpful and always smiling. They had the country flags of the guests flying and we were very happy to see the Irish flag on our arrival. Thats a nice thoughtful touch. Showers could do with upgrading.
We were the only guests there as it was pre Christmas/New Year lull. The Hotel Manageress was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were basic but warm, clean and comfortable. The views were breathtaking and the breakfast was excellent. There were no facilities such as a lounge, bar or restaurant which was fine for a short stay as it encouraged us to explore the village but would not be acceptable for longer stays. Presumably the bar would be open when full.
Nice staff, good continental breakfast
Great location for ballooning festival, could not be closer. Did the job for a two night stay very well. Sadly to say the two twin beds in our room very uncomfortable (big dips) which is why as much as we liked the hotel we would not stay there again. Shame - everything else hit the spot, but beds are very important to the overall enjoyment of a weekend way!
We only stayed overnight but had a very good impression - the room the gave us rather big - more like a tiny studio, with a small sitting area, a small dining table and chairs, and mind you, sturdy beds! When we went down for breakfast, the lady at the reception was very pleasant. Continental breakfast but quite a number of choices. The bathroom was quite small though clean.
room was fine, bathroom quite small though.....great views from room...breakfast very good 4th floor room...no elevator...
Very well located - in the centre of the village. Staff very helpful. Rooms good size and comfortable. Good lay out of breakfast, despite very few people staying at the hotel since it was after the holiday season. Someone should have mentioned on the website that if we have luggage then we need to take the bus from the station to the village. It's a steep climb and with luggage it is very difficult.
The town where it was located was charming, and the hotel was just as charming as the town. Nothing
lovely room, spacious, mtn view, friendly staff, good breakfast There is a series of church bells that ring for 10 minutes every morning at 6:30-----very loud!
I stayed there fort the second time and will definitely stay next time. Very swiss and very nice place
It's central location. Good muesli at breakfast. The promised private parking didn't exist. Public parking rather far away for those with lots of luggage. There is no porter and no trolley to help. The staff didn't help at all- even heaving our large suitcases two flights up a narrow staircase. No soap in the WC, no tissues in the bathroom. The staff could do with being more welcoming.
The staff was very friendly and helpfull, it was right in the center of the charming town. They do not have airconditioning and in the middle of summer it was really hot, also they didnt have any fans available, the streets are pretty noisy at night so sleeping with the window open was really difficult!
Its closeness to the chateau de Gruyeres.
Great location and helpful staff! Wonderful breakfast! Enjoyed the view of Gruyeres out our window.
Staff was friendly, the location is great and the restaurant is fine too.
location personnel, breakfast is not included
We have a wonderful stay in Buffet hotel, It is clean and just next to the train station. You need to know how to speak to the owner and waiter in German lauguage, if not you have to use body lauguage.
The hotel is ideally located at the train station where you can change money and purchase your regional ski pass which includes trains, busses, shuttles, and ski lifts. The top floor room had a nice view of the surrounding mountains and was toasty warm. The owner and a male night manager solved all minor problems in a timely and professional manner. The duck and pork dinners at the restaurant were delicious and reasonably priced. If you are going ballooning, it is a short walk to the take-off field. If you are skiing, La Braye gondola is walking distance too. Coop supermarket is next to La Braye. The post office is at the end of the driveway. Parking was perfectly situated right outside the door of the hotel. Pack the essentials as you have to carry them up the stairs to your room. Had to remind the non-Swiss housekeeper to replenish the shower packets and exchange the towels. The simple breakfast consists of croissants and breads, jam and butter, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice and sometimes cheese; muesli, yogurt, fruit and meat would have been a nice addition.
Check in and check out was easy. Boss of the hotel was very laid back and easy going and we felt we could just walk in and out at any time without being judged. We came in with take away pizza and supermarket shopping and nobody had a problem with us eating in our room. Other guests were a bit noisy, as the the walls are very thin. No tv, but we didn't miss it at all. Linnen was a bit dirty looking and the walls had some grease on them.
Big rooms, clean. Very thin walls, could hear the whole conversation from the room beside... at 03h30 in the morning. Friendly staff but manager unhelpfull and unfriendly.
