Pros: Lovely location, rural but well appointed rooms and property.
Cons: My own fault for not reading info properly but they did not accept credit card. Fortunately I just about had enough cash.
Pros: Guida was a wonderful hostess. Excellent meal and great value for money. Quiet location with a terrific view. Rooms were very clean.
Cons: Really wasn't aything negative about our stay.
Pros: This is my first comment on booking.com. the place is very quiet, could hear the sound of fish jumping in River Guadiana, could see deers running through woods on the other side of the river. The room is clean and tidy, each room has a big balcony with good view of the river. Most importsnrly, the lady host is very helpful and nice, always smiles on her face, get up early just to cook breakfast for me to catch early flight, grilled chicken is very awesome. I would stay in this small hotel again for my next travel.
Pros: Waking up with the ‘screams’ of the deers, a cup of tea on the balcony watching the river. Wonderful breakfast on the terrace. Coming back in the afternoon, a dive in the pool to cool down. Dinner on the terrace: traditional Portuguese dishes, a good glass of whine. The owners are helpful and warm people. In short: when traveling to the south make sure you make a stop here.
Pros: Lavish breakfast. Good restaurant for dinner on the premises. Spacey terrace with some great views on Guadiana River. Great place to clear one's head.
Cons: No idea what could be better.
Pros: The friendliness of all members of this family run chalets, comfort and quality of their very freshly cooked foods. The fact that we were totally immersed in the surrounding nature with beautiful views of the river Guadiana.
Cons: WiFi reception was poor, although it helps to disconnect yourself from social media.
Pros: Everything ok
Pros: The bbq fish was delicious. The breakfast was excellent. The views from the room magnificent.
Pros: This is a great family-run 'hotel' on the banks of the River Guadiana just south of the little village of Alamo. In some ways, it's more like a motel, in that the accommodation is all in small units but parking for cars was separate from the units and the units do not have kitchen areas. The units all look out over the river and as ours was an upstairs unit, we had a large balcony area. (The downstairs units have small garden areas.) We had a good evening meal in the small restaurant at the property and the breakfast (which was included in the price we paid) was also very good. The (mature) daughter of the owner acts as receptionist and waitress, she speaks good English and she has a very friendly, helpful personality. As we were walking the GR15, this was only about 15 minutes' walk off our route, so the location was good for us. Make sure you have sufficient cash with you as they can't accept card payments.
Cons: I suppose it would have been nice to have a kettle and tea and coffee in the room but that seems rather unusual in Portugal.

Pros: I stayed in the hotel with my daughter, husband and kids. Nice hotel, nice view, all rooms have view to the river, nice swimming pool, nice staff. Good breakfast. Only 5 minutes walk to Alcoutim. Very nice place, we will come back.
Pros: Location, staff excellent as always / ho out of their way to help
Cons: Food quite limited but options nearby
Pros: The location was amazing looking over the river Guadiano, we also got an unexpected upgrade, so had a room directly by the pool, it was fab! Staff were really friendly and helpful.
Cons: The only thing that we would have liked were coffee facilities in the room, there weren't any and possibly a pool bar? It certainly didn't spoil things for us though!
Pros: We had the most wonderful time here staying at this family run hotel. The rooms were very clean and beds were nice and comfortable. The swimming pool was such a treat set on the river bank looking across to the quaint little Spanish village on the other side. We have taken with us such fond memories of this special place. Would most certainly return here again .
Pros: Location perfect for access and view of zipwire. Lovely pool. Polite and professional cleaning staff. Private balcony and spacious room.
Cons: The access door to the pool from the corridor could not be opened from the outside.
Pros: Location is fabulous, hotel is new, and rooms are very nice. Alcoutim/Sanlucar is a special place and the hotel is a great addition to the place
Cons: No tea/coffee making facilities in the room No evening dinner available in restaurant.
Pros: Very good value for money in peak season, July. Friendly and helpful staff. Superb position overlooking the river. Lovely pool. Excellent breakfast, wide choice, clean and efficient.
Pros: Lovely place so quiet and peaceful x apart from dogs barking across the river in Spain ! Gorgeous setting great swimming pool
Cons: Maybe an evening restaurant and could have been advised about under cover parking on arrival
Pros: River Views Swimming pool Nice staff
Cons: Small spiders on the walls and ceiling. Sewer smell in the bathroom sometimes

Pros: The observatory is amazing to be able to look at the stars
Cons: Facilities where just ok, didn't seem to be ever a bar open, outside of restaurant times, to get drinks or even tea/coffee
Pros: Lot of space every we’re, Big rooms, nice clean pool, and Amazing decoration.
Cons: The toilet was broken when we arrived, until we leave was not fixed, Room full of Ants, the staff don’t care told us to close baby food in the room, very old TV, to turn on coffee machine in need turn off the TV and vice versa. And nobody show hotel for us, they give us the key and we need to discover everything ourselves, including food times etc. Not enough seats in the pool for All the guests, coffee machine explode in my face, after I informe hotel staff they don’t care, never ask me if I was OK.
Pros: Nice location, close to picturesque Mértola and next to the mines for a bit of exploring. Great outdoor area with well kept garden and nice swimming pool.
Cons: Low quality breakfast. Decoration of the common areas.
Pros: Good range of items on offer for breakfast and all of it fresh and freshly prepared. Location was fascinating...adjacent to the ruins of the mines (in the name) and a beautiful Barragem over which the sun set...stunning. If you visit, please take time to visit the mine ruins as the guy who built the manor house from which the hotel was converted...was the mine the owner in the 19th Century.
Cons: It was just timing, but the pool was overtaken by kids playing with balls and dive bombing...we'd have loved a swim at the temperature of our visit 27c
Pros: Breakfast, swimming pool, gardens, installations, fluvial beach and installations. Great for resting and quiet
Pros: The food was very good, lots of choices and good quality. The staff were very nice, especially the servers.
Cons: The bedroom had a few spiderwebs, some of the furniture was showing a lot of tear and wear. Was expecting a little better from a 4 star hotel. Very difficult to communicate if not portuguese.
Pros: All was clean and very close to the beach and mine.
Cons: Hidromassage bathtub did not work. Aircon light kept me awake part of the night. Sangria was not sangria.
With a stay at HI Alcoutim – Pousada de Juventude in Alcoutim, you'll be within a 15-minute walk of Hermitage of the Immaculate Conception and Museum of Sacred Art. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
Pros: Nice accommodation for reasonable price. Very quiet place (must be noted: we were almost alone in the hostel :-)). Nice views of the river and the neighboring little town in Spain. Superb pool included in the price was a nice bonus (water was clean and with well tempered). Really good and rich breakfast included in the price suprised us. Since we were traveling on bicycles, we welcomed the possibility of their safe overnight parking inside the hostel.
Cons: A little bit creaking beds. :-) The best years have a hostel behind, but it's still good accommodation.
Pros: We had the double en-suite rooms with river view. The view from the balcony was fantastic.
Cons: The hotel exterior needs repainting and there were a few cracked tiles.
Pros: The amazing view and excellent staff.
Cons: Rooms, bathrooms need upgrading. Strong sewage smell coming from the shower drains.
Pros: Pool and proximity to the river made it a great place to hang out. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was pretty much the same as that offered in the Lagos location. Since our bathroom was made for handicapped folks it was spacious. The WiFi was adequate in most areas.
Cons: Since the town is tiny and a bit of a walk it can be a challenge to find an adequate variety of food and beverages. There is limited transportation available unless you have your own car.
Pros: Friendly staff, fab location, lovely clean pool with amazing views
Pros: Locatin overlooking the rive and closeness to the town
Cons: SHower tended to spray onto the floor - the water pressure is brilliant but the shower curtain not up to it
Cons: I arrived in the evening after walking 42 km and the hostel had no drinks, either hot or cold, except for tap water. A hostel has to be able to offer thirsty guests something, at least a kettle and a tea bag.
Pros: Great location and value
