Pros: The view, excellent dinner
Pros: Beautiful accommodation located at the lake. The staff is super friendly and will assist wherever they can. Helping out with tours, giving advice on what to do in the region. Dinner was great. Perfect place to enjoy and relax.
Pros: Everything. Idyllic spot, beautifully ran and excellent food.
Pros: everything! this place is beyond words! filled and operated with heart and sense! the owner opens the door to the restaurant himself and greets you by your name. he regularly joins all tables and gives advises for next day's activity and tours or knows to ask about the respectively given previous ones! it's like family-ran and the loveable and super-clever dog (collie, named Geisha) had, to complete this dream-team, 5 super-cute puppies which she trained and played with. in the morning we woke up by horse-steps around the hut, when they did their morning round. sometimes it's 'only' just a rabbit visiting your veranda. the general view of this piece of land and the quality of food struggle with each other about being more outstanding! couldn't sleep better, couldn't rest better! marvellous! let's hope it keeps this quiet over time!
Pros: Location, lovely cabin, very good food and service.
Pros: Location, view, hosts, food, charming cabana, big and comfortable bed
With a stay at Mallin Colorado Ecolodge in Puerto Guadal, you'll be by the sea, just steps from Lake General Carrera and a 2-minute drive from Laguna San Rafael National Park. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, multilingual staff, and laundry facilities. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours).
Pros: The facilities and property are beautiful with great views of General Carrera Lake. The room very clean and comfortable. Staff was excellent!! The included breakfast was superior-great selection. Dinner was also excellent consisting of local, good quality ingredients. We enjoyed walking down to the beach and to mirador above Lakes Bertrand and Plomo. Do bring bug spray! Highly recommend!
Cons: Location is about an 45 min. south of Puerto Rio Tranquilo.
Pros: Staff was very friendly and a perfect location.
Pros: Beautiful location and extremely helpful staff.
Pros: Very nice hotel located along the Ruta 7 with a fantastic view. You get a personal attention.
Pros: View from the room was wonderful. Food was mostly very good. Juan was great host and did not charge all the drinks when we helped to fix the balcony door that did not close.
Cons: Wifi in the room would have been nice. They could offer easier / shorter riding tours for beginners. Each room should have 2 balcony chairs.
Pros: A beautiful situation, every comfort in the lodge and main restaurant area. The staff were hard working and very helpful and the food was great especially the soup. Very quiet and peaceful and beautiful views from the bedroom with a lovely terrace outside. A beach nearby but too cold for us to use. Did a lovely 4 hr walk from the property to view another va.ley and glacier. Best lodge in the area.
Cons: Everything was great.
Pros: The place is comfortable and very clean.
Cons: The place is too far removed from everything. Breakfast service was slow and spotty. One guy tries to do it all. He is great if you’re the only ones eating but if there are multiple groups your requests will more likely than not be forgotten. I asked for a glass of water every morning and never received one glass of water. Most importantly though, definitely DO NOT stay here more than a night or two, unless you just want to sit in your room. Everything is too spread out, unfortunately we didn’t realize this until we arrived and had already booked four nights. After the second night we decided that we wanted to get closer to some other things we wanted to do and it did not make sense to stay for the last (fourth) night. In discussion with management there was absolutely no budging on their no cancellation policy. I found it very off putting that the owner would not even engage with me or refund a portion of the last night as there is cost savings to us not being there, not to mention the possibility of filling the room. I understand they have a policy but we did stay 3 nights, I would have been happy with $20 for not having to clean the room, feed us breakfast, or heat the room. But the lack of even allowing for a discussion I thought was very poor service. The lack of credit card service is also inconvenient, particularly as all the other vendors we encountered around the lake accepted cards. I assumed before arriving that they did not accept cards as they didn’t have the capability but that was obviously not the case. So my advice is if you are going to stay here, definitely DO NOT book more than one or two nights. Book other nights closer to things you’re interested in doing. Also, DO NOT book anything here until you’re absolutely positive that you will not cancel, as they will hold your cash with an iron fist and sour the entire experience. And BYOBeverage to breakfast.
Pros: Everything was great about the lodge, it was our highlight of our trip along the Carretera Austral. We especially enjoyed meeting the family and all the attention to detail in the cabin. Great location, breakfast and dinner. Would go there again!
Pros: The lodge is well located about an hour from Puerto tranquilo and is within striking distance of national parks. The breakfast was delicious and the staff, especially Jose, were great. Supper was delicious! The room was very comfortable with a nice view of the lake and a comfortable really beautifully decorated shared common room.
Cons: We really enjoyed our one night but the people in the room beside us were noisy and spoke loudly. They were talking to each other at 6:45 am over their hair dryers. And we could hear every word. And they were loud until 11:30 pm as well. Noise seems to travel easily between the rooms.
Pros: The hike behind the property was one of our favorite in Patagonia.
With lake views, Bahia Catalina is situated in Aldana and has a restaurant and a 24-hour front desk. A continental breakfast is available each morning at the country house. A terrace and a private beach area can be found at Bahia Catalina, along with a garden.
Pros: Perfect place for kids to roam around safely. Wonderful view from the bed.
Pros: the incredible hospitality of the owners (Miriam and Patricio) and the beauty of the site
Pros: Excellent location, very friendly family
Pros: This is a beautiful place. The cabañas have an original/individual style, everything is hand made. The bed is very comfortable and there was a fireplace in the living room of our cabaña. It is truly a romantic place, where you can relax and come down. Nice family.
Cons: The owners asked us for our time of arrival, which is often hard to say precisely. However, they don't like it, when you come later than announced. So we would have felt more comfortable, if we have had more flexibility for check in. Although it is a really nice place, it is still a bit overpriced.
Pros: The crew was really considerate. Did everything to make us a cosy stay.
Cons: The location was to remote. The driveway was so difficult, it almost ruined the car. To cold in the room. Not clean. Neee to walk with socks or shoes.
Pros: Incredible location and hosts.
With a stay at Hacienda Tres Lagos in Puerto Guadal, you'll be 0.1 mi (0.1 km) from Lake General Carrera and 6.2 mi (9.9 km) from Chile Chico Plaza. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, a library, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Nice hotel. Good location
Cons: The hotel charged us vat tax although we are tourists and are exempt from tax
Pros: The Hacienda is located on a beautiful piece of ground, on the shores of a lake (Lago Negro) surrounded by mountains. There is plenty to do there such as Kayaking, Fishing, Hiking (for a beautiful view of the 3 lakes), Canopy, Horse riding...You can also play pool, table tennis, baby foot, badminton or ride bicycles or spend time cuddling the cats and dogs or just relax and enjoy the piece and quiet and the sun when it’s out. In the evening we would enjoy the sauna with a quick dip in the lake (there is also a hot tub) as well as our cozy family room with the easy-to-use fire place and the comfortable beds with warm and fluffy duvets (or quilts), perfect for the cold Patagonian nights. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the food is good and the rooms are very clean. We finally decided to extend our stay rather than hitting the tiring road again. The location of the Hacienda is actually also to visit the surroundings of the Lago General Carrera. It’s about 1 hour away from Puerto Río Tranquilo, the starting point for a visit to the amazing Marble Caves or an excursion to the Exploradores Glacier or the Laguna San Rafael. It’s 15mns away from Puerto Guadal from where you can book an excursion to the Glacier Los Leones (boat or hike+boat). And it’s 20mns away from Puerto Bertrand where the Río Baker starts (for rafting and fishing). And so much more...The landscape is beautiful in this area, the colors of the water are surreal and you’re in amazement every single day!
Cons: One should keep in mind that this is Patagonia and access is a real challenge: access to internet, access to fresh and diverse food (especially fruit and vegetables) etc. And the road is tiring, so take a break and stop for a little while...you will not regret it.
Cons: No wifi in the room. Very poor wifi around reception. Splendid dining room, but every evening same menu of 3 choices. Terrible music that spoiled the dinner.
Pros: Nice to have access to kayaks and bikes.
Cons: Our experience with food in Southern Chile was not very positive: no fresh fruits or vegetables. This is not a particular surprise that the food at the hotel was average and expensive. I do not think there are many options for fresh food period. SO, it is a regional limitation. I actually recommend that travelers bring as much fresh fruit from Santiago as possible if you fly...
Pros: Beautiful location, great facilities, very friendly staff, delicious food and excellent value for money. Try the four hour horseback riding - four lakes, offered by the hotel. You will experience incredible views of the four lakes and will feel like a drone flying over turquoise lakes and the peacefulness radiating from the beautiful trees is something we will not forget for a very long time.
Pros: Only the place
Cons: Very bad SERVICE in general and the hotel was cleary under staff dis
With a stay at Parador Austral Lodge in Puerto Guadal, you'll be on the waterfront, just steps from Lake General Carrera. Featured amenities include multilingual staff and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Event facilities at this lodge consist of a conference center and a meeting room.
Pros: The possibility of using Hacienda 3 lagos facilities. Very friendly staff. Splendid view.
Pros: Ideally located on the Caraterra Austral. Sensational staff and delicious food.
Pros: Good location, awesome view and great staff.
Pros: Despite the venue which was excellent we found it over priced. Secondly the communication was lacking and had to ask so many questions. We had dinner at the restaurant and clearly there is no respect for pricing. Dinner was totally over priced for what we ate.
Cons: See above.
Pros: The food at the restaurant was amazing, and the chef was really lovely. The hot tub was also very warm and enjoyable.
Cons: The ‘experiences’ advertised at reception (horse riding, zip line) were unavailable upon request due to staffing reasons. Communication was terrible. Staff could not tell us the price of the meal at the restaurant when we enquired. The pictures of the lake view from the hotel room was misleading. One of the single beds was broken upon arrival and we had to fix it ourselves.
Pros: View and place
Cons: There is no mobile signal. They should have wifi for rooms
Pros: Excellent approach even in offseason. They made for vegetarians one of the best dinners I ever had. They speak perfect English. Beautiful cats, dogs and ducks live nearby. Even in the spring there was a lot of wood, so we felt warm. We took great trip on horses. Patagonia is amazing as whole, but this property is worth of the stop if you want a change from cabanas. If you are a cat lover, go there.
Pros: Staff was nice and attentive. Nice view
Cons: The resort was mostly closed down, you needed to go to the nearby hotel for everything. Family room was the only room of the complex without lake view
Pros: Staff, lounge, room, food service
Pros: Very nice location with big room and great facilities. Helpful staff. Dinner is not cheap but they put a lot of effort and ideas into the menu. Breakfast is really great.
