The Barefoot Eco Hotel - Hanimaadhoo - Beach
9.2 Excellent (318 reviews)
Overview Reviews

The Barefoot Eco Hotel follows the Ecotourism principles of uniting Sustainability and Conservation, involving the Local Community within its activities.
7.9 Good
Pros: Friendly service
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Big room can easily accommodate 3 persons, The bed is 2 meter+ wide. All rooms except the small area left from the restaurant are "front line" 20 meters far from the beach. The beach is clean, wide and long. Very good for children. For the snorkelers: please note that the current usually blows in one direction- from jetty to the corner of the island. Sometimes it may be strong enough. When snorkeling, it's recommended to start from the jetty area and drift towards the corner. But keep in mind the wild beach is not suitable to go from the water. VERY good meal- both the quality and the variety. Soup, pasta, beef, chicken, different varieties of fish, salads every lunch and dinner. Desserts are delicious. Yogurt is available every morning. Fresh fruits- all the day. The staff is well trained and friendly. The diving center is small but well equipped and run in professional manner. Only one boat and up to 9 divers on it.
Cons: Mosquitos. Not so many but pestering. The local staff fumigates the area but the island is big, and the insects fly back again. Do not forget the repellent. The experienced snorkelers and free divers should be ready to swim 250-300 meters until the roof of the reef is over and the bottom goes down. However, there are enough critters even in that shallow area, and many snorkelers just stay there. After the extreme heat happened in the area in 2016 the hard corals above minus 10 meters are 95% dead. The situation improves but very slowly. But this is relevant to all Maldives. And a toilet brush is better to be added...

Pros: Our stay in this hotel was amazing! All the staff is so friendly! We really felt like at home. The hotel has its private beach which is right behind your room and in the resort you can find anything you want – bar, SPA, souvenir shop, they also provide boat trips... We have really enjoyed our stay there and we will definitely return to this amazing place.

Cons: Environment is excellent
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole experience was just perfect. We loved the room, it had a lot of space and was fully equipped. The bathroom was also big and very nice. Regarding the rest of the hotel, it has many things so you can do lots of different activities during your stay. We had a great time in the spa. The juice bar and the swimming pool is, without a doubt, the perfect combination. Great food and drinks, and a charming service by the staff. Besides the lovely beach, the best of the Barefoot are the excursions that take place everyday. We did a few and the were great. We loved the tours given by Fabrizio, thanks a lot!! The food is also really good in The Barefoot, not only really good italian dishes but also delicious grilled fish and different curry options. The breakfast was also really good. Special thanks to Sozib for his charming attention during our whole stay. Thanks a lot!! We will definitely come back again to The Barefoot :) Thanks for this lovely week!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing hotel and super friendly staff! The diving school from the hotel is really great too, super friendly and funny diving instructors and amazing dive spots around the island. Smooth organisation of the diving trips, highly recommended location for beginners and more advanced divers.
Cons: More complimentary drinking water bottles on the room. You get 1 liter in the morning, one liter in the evening, but this is obviously not enough for two people.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The beach, the always nice staff
Cons: The AC could be a little stronger inside the room and the internet wifi only works at the juice bar.

This is the second resort we’ve been too after dusit thani in maldives this island is bigger and and the property is cheaper They staff tried their best to make us feel happy
Cons: The half board is limited to the buffet restaurant that never change In our previous resort we were able to choose from any restaurant with a three course meal which was much better
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good beaches and sport facilities Friendly staff Quiet villas Good Restutant
Cons: Room cleaning is not very good as u May find stains for days without cleaning. They only organize ,but not cleaning during the stay
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The staff was very nice
Cons: I will like to inform you about my family and I’s bad experience in Hideaway resort, and my important warning due to the fact that I have visited more than 10 resorts in Maldives. 1- The food issue: You will be charged in the end for food almost as mush as you spend for the room itself. the meal costs more than any expensive restaurant in Dubai. It costs around $120 per person per meal, and they will offer you $110 for dinner only per person but if you will not use it it will gone anyway so it will be the same concept in the end. The can of cola as example will cost you almost $11, and in different resorts it was much cheaper or free. Also, the quality of the food and especially the drinks are awful and not equal the price. 2- The WiFi is extremely weak and cuts off fast. 3- cleaning issues: The villas are so old and we found way too many lizards, rats, snakes, and ants everywhere. The tables especially were filled with ants so we were digusted to eat on them since the ants will come in the food. Keep in mind that I reserved two villas, and both of them had the same issue. 4- The transportation: a. The resort is extremely far from the airport. You need to use a domestic airplane for one hour and it will not be direct it will stop in another airport then you will use a speed boat for 25 minutes. It was a very tiring journey. On top of that, the domestic airplane was expensive as well. The other option instead of the domestic airplane was the sea plane, which will take one and a half hour and cost more. b. You can not walk to all the restaurants since they are usually far from the rooms, therefore you will need a buggy (small electric car). They don’t have enough buggies so you will wait a lot. 5- The snorkeling issue: The area for the snorkeling is almost 100 meters from the shore, which is a very little amount and not enough. 6- The most important issue of all is that the resort restaurants close at 10 pm except the bar will close at 11 pm.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was our second stay in the hotel and we absolutely loved it! Beautiful secluded beaches, spacious and clean villas, gorgeous coral reef, which was literally on your doorstep. We stayed in a family beach villa (total approx 440 sqm including terrace, pool and a 50-m open-air bathroom) in a very quite part of the island: you step out on the beach and you hardly see any other hotel guests. Each villa comes with bikes to move around, or you could call a golf-car. Great watersports centre with various activities and a floating bounce platforms. Bear in mind that hotel is located on the farthest northern atoll, so you have to take another 50-min regular flight from Male and then have a 20-min boat ride to get there.
Cons: Be prepared that around 22% will be added to all F&B prices at the end if your stay to account for taxes and service charges.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything is great.. The guidance (Majeed) is totally Excellent, supported and extremely kind.He is the one who made me like the resort..
Cons: The guide should be with me all the time and assigned to my villa all the time so whenever I want to go out he should be with me unless he is with another customer he should finish and come back to me.. Thanks
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The beaches. The food. The staff. The spa facility.
Cons: The location is very far away. Transportation to the island is expensive. The overall price was expensive.
