9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful house and we had the very pretty attic room with a lovely big bathroom. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. A delicious breakfast was served where you sit down with the other guests at one big table. Our hostess, the proprietor was very happy to join in our conversation at breakfast making you feel very at home.
Cons: The room was very charming but although it was only one night we did actually miss having a window in the bedroom. The windows were in the bathroom which was effectively at the back of the room. The room also involved quite a lot of steep stairs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a fantastic property, refurbished to the highest standards with beautiful, stylish decor and furnishings. Monique and her family are superb hosts. The generous breakfasts included pastries, bread, meat and cheeses and many home-made delicacies such as four different types of jam, yoghurts, pancakes and cake. On our first evening, we joined Monique and her family for their 'table d’hôte' with three other couples also staying at the property. Monique cooked a delicious meal with apetiser, two entrée courses, main course including vegetables from the garden, dessert and drinks. We ate outside in the pretty lower courtyard, illuminated by candles and fairy lights. The terraced gardens, accessible via steep steps, are pretty and beautifully planted and include a hot tub and quirky sauna (hamman). Lying on the loungers you get a view across the roof tops of the village to the adjoining hills. We can't recommend this property highly enough and hope to return here very soon.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room, very helpful staff.

Pros: Fabulous breakfast. Really good home baked bread with plenty of choice. Local cheese and yogurt. I'd particularly recommend the local speciality - chestnut jam!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was small but nice. Breakfast was good. Staff was friendly.
Cons: Extremely difficult to park. No elevator - ok if you have no luggage, not ok if you have luggage. You must block the very narrow street in order to unload/load your luggage.

Pros: Very friendly and accomodating owners. Made us feel part of the family, even if my French was a bit dubious!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent host! We really enjoyed the facilities (Jacuzzi and outdoors sauna, billiard table) and Monique was very very nice. Can only recommend this accommodation!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast with a very good apricot clafoutis to round off the croissants and home made yoghurt and jams.
Cons: The tortuous climb up 3 sets of stairs with our heavy suitcases!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: There was nothing to dislike about the property the warmth of the welcome the facilities and the breakfast. The location in the heart of Murat made for easy access to the local restaurants
Cons: The only negative issue was the parking. Having said that with the centre of the town being of medieval origin the roads were not designed for cars and there was limited parking immediately adjacent to the hotel

Pros: A nice and unpretentious hotel to stay in the Cantal plateau, clean and comfortable, managed by a young and efficient couple. The hotel's restaurant offers very good quality. Pros: Massive spacious room and bathroom in a beautiful village with amazing views. Very friendly and welcoming host. Restaurant was shut the day we were there so we had a picnic and hst recommended we make with short climb to sit up in the ruined chateau, where we had 360-degree vews of the landscape as the sun was setting. Looks like the restaurant is good and breakfast was delicious - great coffee, nice selction of meats and cheeses, cereals and yogurt, etc. I definitely recommend a stay here.
Cons: No tea and coffee in the room (being British, it's what I'm used to!) but that's normal in France.

4.3 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was OK........fresh bread and croissants. Fresh Juice.
Cons: Hotel and dinner booked 24th July.....advised 25th August restaurant closed and key to our room would be in the room door. On arrival 1800hrs reception closed nobody around.Having driven all day, no refreshment available, no coffee no bar in fact nothing..the place was deserted. we had to drive to the next village 14 miles to get something to eat and drink. On check out no discount offered. No Wi Fi available because nobody available to give the code. One hand towel and one bath towel for two of us!!!. It turns out my wife and I were the only clients. The whole experience was a disgrace, in over fifty years of traveling all over the world this has to be my worst hotel/dinner experience. This property should be removed from your port folio. A full refund would not compensate for the dreadful situation we found ourselves in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: clean, quiet with friendly staff.
4.7 Okay
Pros: Location should have been ideal, half way between Barcelona and Calais.
Cons: Location map was useless and we lost 2 hrs trying to find the hotel. Booking.com advised. No hot water when we arrived, albeit very late because of wrong map location.

Pros: The breakfast was excellent, slightly different from standard French petit dejeuner, with fresh baked cakes each morning. Christine and her husband were very welcoming and helpful, and the evening meals that we had with them were very good. The situation of Maison des Chats is well off the beaten track, but was great for us as there were some randonees which started from the village, so we did not need to use our car.

Pros: The hosts were great, the house was warm, the bed was a wonder of comfort and warmth, the shower looked good, the breakfast was excellent, the 5-course dinner, with wine, we had was brilliant - it was lovely to be offered a cup of tea or coffee or a beer on arrival. Christine has several interesting knickknacks and her furniture is to be admired There are great walks around - the village is a historical gem – this is a great placed to stay for the countryside, the ambiance, for either winter or I should think summer. Cons: We didn’t find anything to criticise or feel the lack of

Pros: Staff was nice. Charming building in a lovely location. Bunk beds for the kids were better than the double one.
Cons: There was a used bar of soap on the shower shelf. Yuk! The bed was so tiny and hard than my husband and I suffered from backache for two days.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Young couple running were very accommodating.. evening meal was extremely good, breakfast plentiful. Very quiet with a nice view from bedroom
Cons: Needs a bit of modernization as a bit dark and dingy upstairs. No tea/coffee in room..

Pros: Great location, not far off the motorway, lovely hosts. The hotel serves lovely evening meals and the breakfast was great too. Far better than the majority of hotels we have stopped in, can highly recommend it.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Location
Cons: Unfortunately bed was too soft and spongy so not the best nights sleep.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic hosts who accommodated our very early arrival with a dog, in a professional but friendly manner. Evening meal was plentiful and excellent, good value for money and a good choice. Breakfast was good too. The room although basic was clean, comfortable and quiet. Hotel in a beautiful setting with a stream next to it and the river a few minutes walk away. Understood that the young hosts had only recently taken over the running of the hotel and we felt they were doing an excellent job. Thank you for a really enjoyable stay in a beautiful setting, it was a pleasure to meet you both and your gorgeous dogs.
Cons: Nothing really - Would have been nice to have a kettle and tea/coffee/chocolate in the room. A couple of small glasses for water in the room would have been appreciated.

Pros: The atmosphere of the bar/restaurant was very friendly and warm. The food was good and the hosts very friendly and interesting. The bonus for me, as an Englishman, was that the hosts are half French half English so conversation was particularly easy.

Pros: Good picturesque location.perfect for hiking in the forests.
Cons: Trucks racing over the village at night.our room was on the street side. This is an old authentic house, so walls are not isolated....

Pros: This was our second visit to the hotel although this time under new ownership. The views from the bedroom towards the Puy Mary were fantastic. The room was clean and comfortable and everything worked including the satellite TV (after a bit of fiddling with the controller). We were not aware that the restaurant was closed on a Wednesday and after initial disappointment were offered an amazing cold platter and sweet at a very reasonable price. We will return again.
Cons: Not knowing the restaurant opening/closing times.
