B&B Antiche Mura - Tarquinia - Bedroom
1
9.7 Excellent (144 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The b & b Antiche Mura is located in de Centre of Tarquinia, adjacent to the walls of the medieval city, within walking distance from all major historical points of interest, all within walking distance, (eg. NATIONAL ETRUSCAN MUSEUM, THE NECROPOLIS U.N.E.S.C.O. WORLD HERITAGE). Over time, some old stables and barns have been converted into homes, (1950), which we then restructured once (1988), until 2014 with the last renovation, always retaining strong rural characteristics, allowing us to accommodate you in the best possible way, not renouncing all comforts. The structure, at present, consists of four independent rooms, all with private bathrooms, a common room for the breakfasts in the morning and a balcony with small table and chairs where you can enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine. In the square in front, you can park or, download the luggage, before reaching the parking is less than 150 metres. A few steps away, in the city centre, you can find restaurants, trattorias, pizzerias, wine-bar, where you can enjoy excellent dishes.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Property is well located inside city walls - great walking distance to Necropolis and sights. Stefania and Robert were extremely welcoming and great hosts. Lovely continental breakfast.
Cons: We like open windows at night rather than A/C. Early morning (5am) motorcycles and cars were a bit noisy - but gave local flavor!

Pros: Great breakfast and comfy bed Central location with parking and charming proprietor
Cons: Nil
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We arrived with our bikes and booked in last minute, and was greeted by a gorgeous super friendly lady, and was shown to A garage where we could keep our bikes safe overnight, we had a nice room with everything you would need for the night and was presented with a wonderful continental breakfast the next morning, Beautiful b&b, super clean would definitely stay again as fabulous location, keep up the good work
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host is extremely nice an a lovely and helpful person. The B&B is also conveniently located close to a parking lot outside the wall (make sure you check the route, google might send you through little alleys).
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We loved staying here. We came for the history but were pleasantly surprised with the accommodations. Tarquinia was a wonderful walled city with so much history. Met a great couple from Australia and learned so much about the area. Definitely worth the stop!
Cons: Had a bit of trouble finding the place but very good (free!!) parking close to the B&B. The museum and tombs were so interesting and the town was very charming. More great mussels for dinner. I love ItalyQ!

Cons: Too soft bed.

Pros: Like staying with family. Elisa was wonderful and spoke good enough English that there was no language barrier. 'Mama', Elisa's mother, was delightful and could not do enough, or feed you enough. Breakfast was a delight--home made eggs (if you wanted eggs-Mama's eggs are the BEST eggs you've ever eaten) or just sweets if you preferred-- or both actually -- along with fresh cut fruit salad, yogurts, juices, specialty sweets, home made, and great fresh coffee. A big spread was put out-- more than you could eat; but lots of choices. You will breakfast on their outdoor terrace if good weather or inside in their dining room. The B&B has 2 doubles-there is one that has a private terrace with chairs and a table and a wonderful view to the sea and over the lower town. This room has a bathroom with a shower across the hall from the room. It is private to that room and won't be used by others. Both rooms are lovely, clean, and have a fridge with complimentary water provided. Both rooms are decorated in a clean and lovely style & towels are replaced daily. It is the ONLY place I would consider staying, if I go back to the region again. Although it is a family residence (B&B), they are not intrusive at all, you have your own keys to come and go. They have pets collie dogs and 2 cats-which only added to the enjoyment for me. But, IF you have an issue with pets- don't worry about this, they are not roaming all over and Elisa is very accommodating for her guests. There is plenty of parking on the street. The ONLY one disadvantage would be for people with physical mobility issues. There are flights of steps to get into the B&B and then to your room. Also, It is a long walk uphill to the base of the town from the B&B. But, there is parking at the base of the town in 2 locations. IT is not even a 3 minute drive from the house.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location just below old town. Easy parking in street. Lovely hosts. Great home made breakfast. Air con in room! Tarquina is an amazing place - the Etruscan Necropolis is amazing and a must see.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful welcoming, English speaking hostess who provided us with a personally recommended map of a walk around the town. A full Italian, 5 home made cakes breakfast.
Cons: Parking is on street which although there was plenty of space we were a little apprehensive about the security of our car which contained our touring belongings. Our apprehension was misplaced, the car was fine. In trying to get hot water for the shower I rang the emergency alarm, rather embarrassing, I now know not to pull the cord in Italian showers
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast, a wonderful way with eggs. Warm and comfortable. Exceptionally clean.
Cons: Towel radiator did not work so bathroom chilly.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room and bathroom was super clean. Elisa got up early to make a large delicious breakfast before our quick departure to catch our flight home.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Large modern room with one queen and double bunk beds. Beautiful bathroom. Breakfast was a do it yourself thing and loads of choices. Massimo and Carlotta Are delightful and Massimo picked us up from airport in Rome. Also very reasonable
Cons: No sitting area
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect for people taking the cruise, it is less than 10 minutes walk to the port. The staff is very helpful. we got stranded at the airport (our airport transfer did not show up), when I called , asking for help, they came to pick us up at the airport (with the fee of course). They do offer airport transfer when booking with them at a very reasonable fee.
Cons: Breakfast is a bit poor, baked items are dried, you make your own omelets with ingredients provided in the frig.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very good continental breakfast. Nicely decorated and comfortable. Easy walk to restaurants and a few extra blocks to the cruise ship bus terminal, but not too far.
Cons: All was fine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation was excellent very high standard, comfortable and a central location. We were taking a cruise and it was an easy walk to the cruise terminal even with baggage. Lovely shared kitchen and beautiful furnishings and decortication we especially liked the nautical theming. The bathroom was beautifully present with a large rain shower. We were extremely happy with the stay and would have no hesitation in staying here again or recommending this property. There was one other couple at the property during our stay but we did not hear any noise it felt like we had our own apartment.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfort, closed to port
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was right in town. The staff was friendly and answered any questions we had. The rooms had a nautical design we found attractive. The breakfast was outstanding.
Cons: The room was on the the fifth floor, but there was an elevator.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bedroom/Food excellent
Cons: We were not aware that is was located on the 5th floor of a high rise. Expected it to be it's own building.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was probably the most important thing we liked about the place ... that is, the convenience to the cruise shuttle stop, which is walking distance provided one has minimum luggage. Host was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and had the amenities one might require for a one night stay. Enjoyed the balcony.
Cons: The location on the main street means it can be noisy at night ... especially on weekends. This is an apartment where the three rooms can be booked by separate parties. That means if there is a late arrival, as was the case when we stayed, there can be quite a bit of noise when they arrive. We were woken up by those noises and conversations. This property is probably best for people traveling together.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent.

Pros: Staff, cleanliness, location, warmth of house.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The welcome was incredible with full fruit basket and own made wine (no chemicals!). The place is in the middle of the nature, few meters form the lush wood around the place. The Structure is really pretty and has everything you need. Strategic position even if you want to go to Rome or to the sea, but avoiding the traffic stress. The Family (owners) are all incredible: wholehearted, warm, caring and welcoming, they made me feel like a part of the Family during the whole stay, making my experience unforgettable and leaving the place as a friend and not a guest. Don't miss the opportunity to visit this place, structure and family there, ideal to recharge batteries and rediscover nature and farmer-cow boy life style, as we were used to live 100 years ago. I feel so blessed to have been there!
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Everything was amazing! The owner is very kind. Really lovely, clean and modern rooms. On arrival we got salami and local wine. Very quiet countryside surrounded by orchards and vineyards. Excellent breakfast. Recommend this place
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and welcoming. Very clean and the pool was a delight.
Cons: Need to bring your own washing up liquid and close (though might be that I didn’t translate the notice properly!)
7.5 Good
Pros: • Veerry nice welcome from the owner! Thanks for it! • Very cozy place in the middle of nowhere, fully surrounded by nature, quiet, “farm-style”. • I guess perfect from may to September! • Very good and various breakfast! Recommended!
Cons: • Sorry to admit, but our room was definitely too cold, even if theoretically air-conditioning always active at 30 degree (clearly not working properly) • Bathroom freezing and very small..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bbq and fridge were available for the guests so that allowed us to have most of our suppers at the hotel. The breakfasts were very good and Vanina did more than everything to get you satisfied. Her and her husband Domenico welcomed and treated us tremendously well. We enjoyed the peace and tranquility that the place offered. Plus the swiming pool! But also the connections with Rome ( being 40km from Rome between Bracciano and Manziana) are good and we took the train and bus to visit the big city.
Cons: We liked everything

Pros: We were walking the Via Francigena & Michela drove to the neighboring village to pick us up. My wife had an injured ankle & she called her Dr who came to the B&B to see her!! I can’t say enough for the accommodations. Perfect.

Pros: Michela is simply a fantastic host. She welcomes you and you immediately feel comfortable, as if you were at home. The rooms are nice and spacious, breakfast is actually pretty good if not to say very good considering Italian standards. (Scrambled eggs with bacon included!) We stayed here only 1 night but would definitely recommend!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice B&B run by a very nice person.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house is large, attractive, beautifully renovated and attractively furnished. The rooms and bathrooms are generously sized and well furnished. The garden is extensive and well maintained, our host, Michela, is absolutely charming. I wholeheartedly recommend this B and B.
Cons: The only minor drawback of the house is it's proximity to a road and railtrack, but this very proximity makes it a very convenient base for touring the area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Easy to find on the SS2, with secure private parking. The B&B is a quiet little oasis despite the proximity of the main road and railway. Michela gave a warm welcome and could not do enough for us during our stay. She even phoned around and made a booking for us for dinner. The B&B is delightful. Very modern, nicely furnished, well equipped, spacious and comfortable. Bed, pillow, shower, etc all very good! Breakfast was big and then Michela made us crepes as well! We stayed here on our last night after 6 weeks in Europe and it was as good as any we had stayed at and better than most! A great way to end our trip! Thank you Michela! 10/10!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host is extremely helpful and friendly
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We found the B&B Ponentino on Google. We read the reviews on TripAdvisor. The experience was great. The staff was very helpful. We had an unfortunate travel delay and a miscommunication, but much to our surprise the staff was flexible and amenable to our change in travel itinerary. The room was very clean, the only surprise was that it was a shared bathroom, and we erroneously thought we would receive at least a continental breakfast. No meal was offered, and most B& Bs include a continental breakfast. In Italy we would have welcomed coffee and a pastry. We would however stay there again as the accommodations were centrally located and met our needs.
Cons: No breakfast, or coffee.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: B&B Ponentino is in a great location and very easy to find by car. Paolo is a wonderful host and was there to meet us and showed where to park our rental car. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Lots of great restaurants within easy walking distance and an evening walk along the waterfront past the old Fort is highly recommended. I would definitely recommend staying here.
7.5 Good
Pros: The room was very nice and clean. The host was friendly. The room was close to the city centre.
Cons: The noise from the street (glass recycling bins, scooters, shouting etc.)

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The B&B was wonderful. The location in the middle of the walled town could not be more convenient. Breakfast was just the right amount and tasty. Daniel the host is a very professional and personable young man. He will look after you.
Cons: Perhaps an English-speaking television channel would be nice to look at after a hard day sight-seeing, but it was not essential.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host, Daniele was very kind and offered to bring me to the train station. The B&B checks all the boxes for what's important to me for a safe and comfortable accommodation without breaking the bank. Beddings were crisp, towels were white and clean. Wifi is strong. Breakfast is typical Italian B&B style (sweet breads, cereals, yogurt, coffee, juices, milk). There is ample space for my clothing and luggage. Its location is perfect: it's within the old town (citta antica) and very close walking distance to the bus stop and the centre of town. The Necropoli Etrusca Dei Monterozzi, the top attraction in Tarquinia, is a 12-15 minute walk from the B&B. If you plan to drive there, the public parking just outside the old town wall is very accessible on foot.
Cons: Perhaps some soundproofing to reduce sounds coming in from other areas of the B&B.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was superb, breakfast was good, owner very helpful
Cons: car access was difficult but only due to walled city location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place in a sweet town. We enjoyed our stay and would return. The hosts are delightful and went out of their way for us - especially helping us find free parking which is easy and possible nearby.

Pros: Daniele was a great host. Picked me up from the station. and used his local knowledge to suggest local restaurants etc., Tarquinia was a last minute choice suggested to me by passenger in next seat to me on flight. Was wonderful.

Pros: the host is amazing, very helpful and friendly. he picked us up from the station, even if we let him know at the last minute. beds are very comfy and the place is very clean. breakfast ok.
Cons: it's soooo loud in the room. you can hear everything that's happening in the kitchen and hallway. So if you're a light sleeper, it's gonna be hard for you.

Cons: Just a little far from nearby places, though Marco our host kindly drove us to and from the station and arranged a car to the Castello at night. Walking distance for the fit so worth the quiet and relaxing being away from it all. Train straight to Rome or Pisa and most destinations a bonus.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast, spotless clean, comfortable bed, nice little patio.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room was very nice and comfortable, with a nice veranda outside. Marco and his wife very friendly and ready to meet out requests

Pros: calm district (no big parties, no great noise in the night), possibility to sit outside at the terrace
Cons: - wifi could be better, - mosquitos at the terrace were realy annoying (but I understand that the owners are not able to do anything against it; however, it was great that they gave us the electric gadget for repulsion of mosquitos), - breakfast as described in the earlier comments - sweet, light (bisquits, coffee, juice, yoghurt, etc.), but we were able to deal with it
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We choose this place to visit the Pyrgi Castle. It is not too close to the train station, but it was a nice walk on foot in the evenings; the managers were so kind to give us a lift when we arrived and left. The place is very peaceful, in a residential area. Breakfast is suitable for people on vegan and gluten free diet. Very clean, quiet and comfortable.

Pros: BREAKFAST- VERY GOOD- LADY SERVERS/STAFF- CHARMING AND VERY HELPFUL- ROOMS CHARMING- MY HUSBAND ESPECIALLY LIKED THE WOODEN BEAMED CEILING.
Cons: THE OUTSIDE ENTRANCE WAS A LITTLE DECEIVING. WASN'T SURE WHAT IT WAS GOING TO BE LIKE INSIDE. WE WERE SOMEWHAT HESITANT ABOUT ENTERING AS THE NEIGHBORHOOD IS A LITTLE ISOLATED. BUT EVERYTHING WORKED OUT.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The outside of the building was ominous but once inside it was quite charming and the staff were lovely. Out room was very large with an excellent and large shower. Breakfast was very good. There were table and chairs one floor up if you preferred to overlook the whirlpool. We were going on a cruise from Civitavecchia so needed transportation from the hotel to the pier. The hotel arranged for a mini bus to come pick us up at a cost of 5Euros per person. A bargain. A very enjoyable stay. Thanks, Bel Sole
Cons: Outside restaurant being a little closer. Not knowing how far the nearest restaurant was we walked quite a way to a pub which served pasta, pizza etc. which was quite good.

Pros: We appreciated the ongoing kindness of the owner, Aldo, Who not only picked us up at the train station but also delivered us to our entry for our ship. He was most accommodating and the facilities were nice and clean. They were really good taste of Italian living.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great owner who remembers the little things. Very clean and nice sheets with excellent air. Thanks Aldo for the great service
1.0 Poor
Pros: Was given poor information by the host. He said I could walk from the ferry to the entrance of the port where he woul wait for me. The entrance turned out to be some 15 minutes by car an impossible distance to walk at night. The house is clean but has absolutely no amenities and no charm. The host speaks good English but his demeanor is not very pleasant. He is trying but has a long way to make a stay at his home memorable. I certainly will not be back there
Cons: See above

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Aldo was an excellent host. The location of the b & b is close to everything. The place is very clean . Breakfast was excellent.

Pros: Not far from the station and the sea. As the sea is next to the port it's not the best place to swim but it was quite enjoyable just to have sunbaths. The hosts were super-friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed our stay here.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: When you have a helpful and informative host, you ignore all kinds of weaknesses. Assistances were offered proactively. Hot breakfasts added a lot of points. There was a nice seafood restaurant nearby, offering freshly caught fishes.
Cons: It weren’t the best decorated facilities, but that didn’t bother us to enjoy our stay

Pros: Valle del Marta is a little paradise, it's calm, family run, nothing is too much trouble, the food is all from the farm or local top quality . our room is cleaned and beds changed daily , even our soap is changed daily. The pool is beautiful and there is a spa with treatments which offer a variety of treatments. After the shock of having our passports stolen and being unable to board our cruise the staff and facilities , the calmness of Valle fe Marta was just what we needed and can't thank them enough. Taraquinia is a beautiful walled town and every restraunt we went to and every shop we used the staff were so so helpful and pleased to have our custom.
