The staff were very nice The room was also lovely with a view of the castle from the bedroom window. Breakfast - I opted for full breakfast and my adult son opted for continental the breakfast he received was huge with freshly sliced ham, cheese and croisants. We are non smokers so did not like the smoke in the bar.
The breakfast - excellent the mouldly dirty room - the tiny bath - no room service - no food available in place of room service - small bed - placed in the highest part of the building with two other guests. No one else was staying there? £170 nfor two nights in a sub standard hotel etc etc
The service was very good for the price. No.
Very friendly and helpful staff, quiet rooms, good parking bedroom lighting could be improved
Very comfortable and excellent people - Highly recommended
The location, views, the castle in front of you, very interesting vilage & shops, great for walks, River & Coast. We loved it and will go again. Could add a small lounge for residents with TV.
The bedroom was light and airy with 2 different fantastic views, and the bed was extremely comfortable, giving a very good night's sleep.
parking facility dining room in use was not very cosy; kitchen was not so good
Very nice hotel in beautiful location. Very friendly staff. Could do with some updating of the decor. Breakfast good, however, main meals could be improved.
Great location overlooking Warkworth castle and the lovely village. This was a return visit to this hotel for us! There's nothing to dislike. If pushed for a comment, it might benefit with some updating of decor, but that's all - it's an old hotel!
center of Alnwick easy to find the bistro restaurant not very good
Very convenient position in town, and for local touring, comfortable bedroom, very pleasant staff. The dining room in the hotel and the Bistro were both really chilly.
Everything was first class. Wonderful hotel. Really enjoyed our stay.
It was clean and comfortable, well located and our room was quiet. The breakfast (especially in these days of room only bookings) was a pleasure and greatly added to our sense of having got value for money.
The second time I have stayed here and this time it was tryng to be something it is not, and in the process fails to project what a unique, fabulous and unique place this is - ancient coaching inn + part of the interior of an opulent Edwardian ocean liner! The 'anywhere' boutique hotel interior & litter of sweeties, mags, cushions, throws etc. cluttered our relatively small room did not equal luxury. Worse, the restaurant food was mediocre, very limited in choice and not cheap - imagine our surprise that the chef was featured in the regional gourmet mag in our bedroom stating his reverance for local food. Why did he not use the excellent family butchers across the street?? Apart from some senior waiting staff who were trying hard, the younger members of staff appeared under trained and unaware that their prime focus should be the guests, not chattering to each other.
good value for money, ideal place to from which to explore the coast from berwick tynemouth car parking very restricted
From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel very welcome. Room & Food? Excellent That we were forced to leave a day early due to deteriorating weather conditions...Can't wait to go back. The town was magical with its very thick blanket of snow
Quality breakfast, couldn't be faulted and beautiful dining room. Bathroom fittings unfinished. Couldn't open window of bathroom, painted shut and no extractor fan Fittings all loose and some falling off wall.
location, dining room association with the olympic ship, ease of parking
location, decor with the old liner dining room felt the cooked breakfast was poor and would be better to be self service buffet style
Friendly welcome. Indian Restaurant within hotel good. Bed clean and comfortable. Confusing arrangement at entrance with apparent check-in desk being used by Indian Restaurant rather than hotel. No shower - I am sure it was advertised with shower. Kettle had tea stain on outside also tray with cups needing cleaned. Not enough tables in the Breakfast Room - had to take breakfast plus drinks cutlery etc through hotel to Indian Restaurant. Breakfast felt like a bit of a free-for-all but food good.
Bed large & comfortable Bathroom very very outdated. No shower or any means of washing hair other than directly under tap. Room noisey, doors banging until early morning then pigeons on bathroom window cill starting cooing at 6am. A bit of wire netting to windows would prevent them roosting. Car park needs attention.
Nice, clean comfortable room. En- suite a little on the small side.
Very friendly staff, good bar prices(cheapest in the village) and the Indian restaurant was superb! Could have been better aknowledged by breakfast service staff.
Very comfy bed.Really good full English breakfast.Pleasant staff. Old style tv in our room did not work & our room was much smaller than our frinds room & their flat screen tv worked.
I found Doxford hall to be one of the best hotels i have ever stayed in pure luxury, friendly staff and beautiful surroundings
Quality hotel. Very helpful staff. Large bedroom and bathroom. A bit short staffed at breakfast time, the 2 waitresses were rushed off their feet. Possibly due to the fact it was the Easter weekend.
The room was very large and spacious although pillows could have been more comfortable, staff were excellent. There was no vegetarian option on the menu for the restaurant until we asked if there was one available. We then decided to eat in the bar area and when we asked for nibbles like the other guests were told by the waiter "the nibbles are for restaurant guests only" - We were actually stunned!
Accomodation excellent, food good Restaurant staff were slightly less friendly - a little off hand.
Bath and bed - fantastic Room was a great size with a lovely view the garden will be super in the summer beautifully restored building Fixed menu was expensive and there were no other options to choose from
Doxford Hall Hotel was excellent in all respects. The decor of the hotel was very tastefully designed, very much in character with the building and to a very high standard. Staff were all very helpful and pleasant. Restaurant was high-side price but worth it as the food was superbly cooked and presented. All hotel facilities were excellent. None !!
Very welcoming staff, beautiful and spacious room, excellent facilities. Hotel needs to get its act together when heavy snow falls. It is in an isolated position and road access is difficult. It doesn't help though when even the access drive and car park are not cleared of snow. Full marks though to the 2 ladies on duty when I left who called in a local farmer with a tractor!
The food, the service and the quietness of the hotel. There wasa nothing that i did not like.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had our 1 year old daughter with us and they did everything possible to accommodate.
Recently renovated. Owner takes a personal interest. Super chef and meal worth the money for a special occasion. Wine reasonable. Dinner menu not publicised as well as the room service menu.
