Pros: Everyone, from the front door Carlos, the manager welcome us and has been an excellent guest him and all the staff
Cons: More heating on the room
Pros: Location was super; breakfast and dinner very good, friendly staff and good activities.
Cons: Beware that not every room has heat!!! We had two rooms for our group and one room was super toasty with a wood stove; the other very cold with no heat source. We received a discount when we pointed this out to the innkeeper, but for a place that charges premium rates you need to be aware of this and there’s nothing on the website that tells you.
Pros: Impressive view and location. Good facility. Extremely nice staffs
Pros: Everything. People, location, food
Pros: Charming hacienda with spectacular views. Perfect for a romantic time as couple. Be aware the drive there might be a bit rough when going on your own by car and when dark - adventurous ;)
Pros: The location, food , support of the staff
Cons: Trip was expensive
Pros: Pablo and all staff are very helpful. It was my second time and Los Mortiños and I will surely go there more times! I really recommend the horse riding at the Cotopaxi National Park.
Pros: This hacienda is gorgeous and completely isolated, right near the northern entrance to the park. They have some adorable llamas on the property and acres of space, with incredible views of Cotopaxi volcano. The meals were all delicious and service excellent. Rooms were warm, comfortable, and spacious.
Cons: Just an FYI - the hotel is very isolated (the road in is very bumpy and slow-going!) so you will definitely be eating meals at the hotel. Fortunately, they were very delicious and pretty reasonably priced (breakfast included, packed lunches and dinners are not). :)
Pros: Super friendly staff Location

Featured amenities include a 24-hour business center, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Fantastic position, great helpful staff who can organize anything, a working farm with its own products on the menu. Lovely gardens.
Cons: It would be good if the guests were asked to be more respectful of this lovely place.
Pros: A very beautiful hacienda with exellent facilities and breathtaking views of Cotopaxi and the surrounding mountains. We especially enjoyed the horse riding.
Pros: Sebastian and his team made our stay in Hacienda El Rejo during difficult times in Ecuador more than wonderful. The Hacienda is beautifully located and meticulously maintained. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are splendid and the organization of activities in the surrounding area worked seamlessly. In short: highest recommendation for stays in the Cotopaxi area or weekend escapes from Quito.
Pros: The staff was extraordinarily nice and seemed to care about our wellbeing. Also the food was really tasty and the activities they offer are worth every penny. We loved the view from the Hacienda!
Cons: It was a little cold in the common area.
Pros: They owner and staff were incredible. We had a great time
Pros: Our stay was perfect. The room was super nice and very comfortable and the ranch itself is located in the nature and in a wonderful landscape. We had dinner in the house, not in the restaurant because we were just 5 guests in total and in was tasteful and very romantic! Katy and Janet have been very kind with us and they treated us like royalty! We have been so lucky to have met them. A wonderful stay!!
Pros: Beautiful property, large, beautiful, comfortable, rooms and grounds, excellent restaurant, historic & lovely common areas, attentive & patient staff.
Set in Machachi, 39 km from Quito, Casa del Montañero offers a bar and free WiFi. An American breakfast is available every morning at the bed and breakfast. Casa del Montañero offers a children's playground. Guests at the accommodation can enjoy cycling nearby, or make the most of the garden.
Pros: Great google map exllications from the owner. Great breakfast.
Cons: I was the only guest that day.
Pros: We had a great stay! It was in great condition, and Diego was super hospitable! The road out to Cotopaxi is literally around the corner. Breakfast was great and they accommodated our vegan diet. Thanks so much, highly recommended!
Pros: Diego and the rest of the stuff is very kind. He asked every day, if he can help us and gave nice tips where to go. Apart from that it is a good spot to start mountain tours.
Cons: The WiFi-signal was only available at specific spots in the house.
Pros: Staff was amazing, super friendly and helpful (all the time). Location was good, just few minutes from the main square. Everything was clean.
Cons: Unfortunately no kitchen for the guests. A bit too expensive.
Pros: Property is beautiful, comfortable and clean. We didn’t realize it’s a place geared toward backpackers & climbers, but we were comfortable & welcomed nonetheless. The owner offers trekking & climbing trips so check out his travel agency too! Great breakfast included.
Cons: Well, we are dorky Americans but we would have liked a TV to chill to at night. There is good WiFi here though if you’re all set with your phone.
Pros: Cosy place Staff can arrange tour for volcanoes but better to tell them before you stay
Cons: No noise isolation Cold room Shower not that warm
Pros: Very cosy place with fireplace, close to the city but also entrance to the park. Nice people and great breakfast.
Cons: Advice als recommendations were not very helpful. The availability of rooms were not equal to the ones in booking.com so er had to take a more expensive room then we have booked for
Pros: The Hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood, the owner Couple is very friendly and helpful an can Tell you a lot for Things you can do. Nice breakfast. I Spend a nice Time there and felt welcome.
Pros: The hosts were really great, and the breakfast was first class. Great view of Volcan Cotopaxi.

Pros: Pure nature around, beautiful trails and views.
Pros: A beautiful and comfortable hotel, lovely room, nice restaurant with delicious food, surrounded by nature
Cons: Very impractical to get to and from (or explore surrounding area) without own private transport. Would not recommend for travellers relying on public transport as it’s not easy (or safe) to get to and from. Restaurant also pretty pricey.
Pros: We were met by the owner who was nothing short of incredible. Spoke some English, was accommodating in taking a last minute dinner order late in the evening to make sure we ate, the room had roses in it(beautiful touch) the bed was white fluffy and comfortable. Room had a gorgeous view. Owner had a lab dog. The breakfast was included and one of the finest in 7 months of South American travel.
Pros: Great staff Great comfort
Pros: Really nice and quiet located Hotel with beautiful individual and clean rooms. Nice social room/Bar atmosphere with caminfire. Really good breakfast, and outstanding nice Personal, that wants you to feel good. I would definetly recomment it to travelers. On the Hotel Arena are several animals, aß Lamas, horses etc. And you can use the Jaccuzi After hiking - soo good. Only thing to know: its a little outside of Machachi, so you have to eat in the Hotel in the evenings and you need a Taxi / Car to get there.
Cons: Only thing to know: its a little outside of Machachi, so you have to eat in the Hotel in the evenings and you need a Taxi / Car to get there.
Pros: My sister and her family loved the animals and play yard for the kids. Pot belly stove in room was very warm. Delicious meals.
Cons: Manager seemed a bit grumpy when we arrived because we were six people but we said five on the website. I tried to explain the website only went as high as five but we reserved 2 rooms which would sleep 7 people total (one for 2, one for family of 4).
Pros: Raoul, the houst was very frindly and corteous. The fireplace in the room was an absolute highlight. The food was excellent, they have a really good cook. Everywehre in the house there were many beautiful roses that made the rooms very comfortable. The three puppies are georgeous, and they are looking very good for all the animals.
Pros: The staff, the location, the food and the activities available (horse riding, hikes) are great
Pros: The location was awesome. Right at the entrance.
Pros: The view was awesome
With a stay at Hacienda Santa Ana in Machachi, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Pasachoa Forest Reserve and Arcangel Miguel Statue. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Gorgeous, tranquil environment, complete with beautiful gardens, nice walks and views. Staff were a perfect mix of professionalism and friendliness and very helpful and attentive (Victor was an excellent host and Rocio was quick and responsive in organizing activities). A great place to escape for a few nights.
Cons: Tours were excellently organized and facilitated - although in retrospect you may be able to find better prices directly from a tour company.
Cons: Beautiful bedrooms, extremely comfortable beds, lovely decoration and amazing natural landscape. Truly enjoyed the horseback ride. Very friendly staff, service was excellent!
Pros: Hacienda Santa Ana is a beautiful and very historic building on the lower slopes of Rumiñahui and not far from the Northern entrance to Cotopaxi National Park. The grounds, while not enormous, are attractive and include the stone remains of a bullring and glorious views to the North and West. The sitting area is large with two fireplaces, very beautiful and furnished with antiques and family items belonging to the present owners and reflecting the history of the building, going back to when it was owned by Jesuit settlers. The bedrooms are all spacious, with four in an older part of the house, some with doors to the gardens, and three newer ones near the reception and dining room. The bathrooms vary in size, ours, in room 3, was very small but adequate. The beds were comfortable and had some of the best pillows we experienced in six weeks' travelling in Ecuador. William and Sebastian were helpful and friendly when we arrived, William giving the other guests and us a detailed history of the hacienda with our welcome drink. We booked a horse trek up Rumiñahui for the next day but, sadly, it was so cold and windy that it was agreed to cancel the trip.
Cons: There were seven guests our first night and William took dinner orders with a choice of two starters and two mains to be cooked by Sebastian. We chose one of each and all the dishes were equally disappointing. The only palatable dish we were served was one maracuja mousse that was served as a dessert option. Breakfast resembled that offered at a second rate motel, and by then we realised that the coffee that was available 24 hours was left there to stew for the full 24 hours. The second night that we stayed, we were the only guests. When we came back from spending the day in Cotopaxi National Park, the fires had been allowed to go out, the "hot water" for tea was stone cold and we knew better than to try the coffee. William, when asked, was happy to light one of the fires and, when we told him that we would be eating out for dinner, (up the road at the infinitely preferable Hacienda El Porvenir, where we had had an excellent lunch as, luckily, we had a car), but we would appreciate coming back to a warm sitting room, he was very obliging.
Pros: It is close to Cotopaxi National Park. It is a short drive to the north entrance. It is easy to get to the park by the 8am opening time. By 9 am the clouds start to roll in and your view of Cotopaxi may disappear.
Cons: It seemed overpriced. The free breakfast was dry pancakes and watery scrambled eggs. It seems like they could have provided more options for the price.
Pros: Good located to national park
Cons: Paying so much money and still only have „optimised“ heating was not meeting our expectations
Pros: The Hacienda was perfect -- idyllic setting, very close to Cotopaxi national park entrance, historic, superb and accommodating staff and service and wonderful food.
Pros: We loved the location and the house. But not more
Cons: The toilette didn’t work and there was no indicating no to flush toilette paper. The Breakfast was terrible, so we went for food and horse riding to Hacienda Porvenir, just 500 meters away. The house is nice, but no value for money for the service I recommend to stay that Porvenir, they know how to do Hotels and Food and offer real value for money. Very disappointed from Hacienda Santa Ana. Stay at Porvenir, 1000 times better!!!
Pros: William gave us a great welcome and was very helpful whenever we asked. Rocio contacted us beforehand by Whatsapp to let us know what they could arrange for us. Rooms spacious and clean. Woodburners in lounge nice. Tea and coffee and water always available. Horse riding was a great experience - went to the national park and saw Condors.
Cons: The journey there was along a very bumpy unmade road. It felt very remote. It was cold although they tried to make it better with the fan heater in the room, hot water bottles and the wood burners.
Featuring panoramic volcano views and a forest reserve, Sierra Alisos offers a restaurant and free Wi-Fi in Hacienda Tambillo Alto. Tambillo train station is 9 km away and Quito City is a 45-minute drive. The rooms in Sierra Alisos feature private bathrooms. Some have kitchens, balconies, and fireplaces. Room service is provided. Guests can relax in the garden or request massage sessions. Hiking and horse riding activities can be arranged, as well as bicycle rentals. The restaurant serves fusion and international dishes. Cotopaxi national park and the airport are 1 hour away by car. Free private parking is possible on site.
Pros: Beautiful grounds, so close to the highway but you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere (in a good way). As our kids said, “it’s a hobbit village!”
Cons: While the room is great value, dinner felt a bit overpriced ($15 for pasta, salad and cake). But I understand that beggars can’t be choosers. And it was all tasty. Would be great if there was a self-catering option.
Pros: The energy and vibe here plus the gorgeous views feel like liberated luxury. I plan to return every year or two for personal time to meditate, write and recharge.
Pros: The common space is beautiful, thoughtfully designed, and a really comfortable space to spend some quiet time. Maritza and Mario were very accommodating - we spent most of our time relaxing over coffee but never felt like we were imposing. Our 2nd-floor rooms had beautiful views and the fires kept them warm. Even the wifi worked well.
Pros: the room with the fire place was very comfortable and cosy.
Pros: the people, the service, the environment, food, chiminey in the room
Cons: maintenance, cleanness, decoration
Cons: There are no facilities to play around i.e. table tennis, darts, etc
Pros: Upon arrival, we were immediately impressed with the exterior of the thoughtfully designed lodge and details throughout the main seating area. Raul, the owner met us and showed us to our warm and inviting room in which he had already prepared the wood-burning stove, which was much appreciated. We were also grateful when Raul offered us hot Guayusa tea which helped with the altitude sickness we were both experiencing, having just arrived in Quito. Our superb meals (dinner and breakfast) were true 'farm-to-table' and were prepared using local ingredients directly from the hacienda and surrounding farms. These were easily amongst the best meals we had in our 13 day visit to Ecuador. Raul's staff were also extremely friendly and helpful. Raul, was personable and we enjoyed his conversation and company, including the history he provided of the building and his family. In short, we had a wonderful, but brief stay, and regret that we didn't stay longer to enjoy exploring the grounds and hiking trails of the hacienda in this beautiful setting with amazing views of the surrounding Andes highlands.
Cons: A 4x4 or vehicle with good suspension would be recommended for driving up the unpaved road that leads to the property (going in a regular airport taxi was a little challenging especially in the dark).
Pros: Nice view and environment Everything is natural Uniquely designed hotel
Pros: A fantastic little hacienda. Great location, not too far from Quito. Very peaceful and quiet for a great trip
Set in Machachi, Hacienda EL SINCHE Tesoro de la Pachamama offers a garden and free WiFi. Boasting a 24-hour front desk, this property also provides guests with a children's playground. There is a restaurant serving Grill Bbq cuisine, and free private parking is available. At the hotel, each room is equipped with a wardrobe. At Hacienda EL SINCHE Tesoro de la Pa the rooms come with a desk and a private bathroom. Guests at the accommodation can enjoy a buffet breakfast. Quito is 43 km from Hacienda EL SINCHE Tesoro de la Pachamama.
Pros: When we arrived at the property there was no one there. Hotel was completely empty. The farmers next door told us everyone left for vacation.
Pros: This place is simply amazing ...nice calm location near all mountains paschoa, corazon , Iliniza Norte, cotopaxi....just 1 hour drive to Quito. And really calm and peaceful....the best is to rent a car and use this place as starting point to all activities....Quito is too noisy and too much traffic... Xavier the owner can help you to arrange all activities you want to do with a local guide...no need to pass through an agency... The breakfast is good and there is always a lot of fruits.
Pros: Staff was very friendly and ready to help
Cons: Was under reconstruction
Pros: We spent 3 wonderful days here. The people are incredibly friendly and helpful. We could ride horses, cuddle puppies, make cheese and pizza and read for hours on comfy couches. And it is a perfect base camp for a trip to the Cotopaxi via the north entrance. Javier speaks English as well and is a fantastic host. His whole family made us feel at home. We want to come back one day...
Pros: The entire experience was amazing. The host takes such good care of the guests, you are treated like family as soon as you pull up. The hacienda is incredible and steeped in history. You become a member of the hacienda family - we milked cows, made cheese, pasta, roasted coffee, rode horses, fed the pigs, went on a hike through the hills, planted seeds, the kids played on the huge slide, outdoor playground, tree house, played with the dogs. It was an amazing, unforgettable experience.
When you stay at Chuquiragua Lodge & Spa in El Chaupi, you'll be 13 minutes by car from Machachi Market. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Beautiful location
Cons: Really rude staff, had the feeling not being welcomed. They were really stressed out about the amount of People staying there, told us several times that we had to move beacause they couldnˋt arrange place for everyone at the breakfast. If you are Not Part of a big group, they dont really care. We also tried the Spa, which they are charging extra. It was dirty, the water was cold, and at the roof appeared mould. We are Not picky but if you pay that much money for your stay you can expect at least friendly staff and clean facilities. Really disappointing.
Pros: Very helpful English speaking staff, nice territory
Cons: A bit expansive
Pros: Loved the location, friendliness of staff. Felt very comfortable and welcomed. Would love to return sometime in the future. Thanks again.
Pros: Good location when you are visiting Cotopaxi and quilitoa in 2 days.
Cons: Accommodation was very disappointing, we have paid a lot for the room compared to other residences. The room was small and not a lodge. Shower had little to no hot water. The service at the “restaurant” was very disappointing, we had to wait 40 minutes for an ice tea, the food was served an hot later. Not friendly service at all.
Pros: The dorm beds are very comfortable- plenty of bedding provided( and a heater!) for the cold nights. Staff were friendly. Lovely grounds.
Cons: The location is a little in the middle of nowhere- hardly any restaurants or shops nearby. But it is a very tranquil spot! Breakfast was OK but could have been a bit more varied. Dinner was pricier than usual. Spa didn't seem operational or promoted very well
