All was perfect! Probably the best accomodation we have had. Calm, harmony, luxury without any lack of good taste, a personalised and very kind welcome and a very good diner
We spend just a day and a night in Sobroso, and really enjoyed it. I only can confirm what others already stated: this is a place to relax, to eat local dishes with high quality, to drink great wine ... and to experience a warm welcome with perfect service from all the people there. My room has been quite small, bed on upper level. If it's hot outside, even the A/C doesn't cool down enough if you are used to sleep in colder environment. Different in other rooms, no problem there. It completely depends which room you get.
Very impressive hotel. Loved the architecture. Staff very helpful with dinning suggestions.
Friendliness of hotel staff; interesting old building to visit; pleasant and hospitable city; many touristic places of interest, particularly the Alqueva dam.
This is a charming hotel. The room was spacious with a wonderful ornate ceiling. The bed was large and comfortable. A very atmospheric building with helpful staff
The hotel is beautiful and really clean and neat, and the people were very friendly and helpful! No!!!!
Simply beautiful settings, a must stay if you're ou that way ! very helpful staff who refer us to a lovely restaurant, breakfast was perfect - beautiful dining room & good food! we took loads of pics of the hotel before we left..best hotel we stayed in of the entire trip!
The hotel, the people and the town NO
What I liked was that even though the location is within the city, the hotel offered me the privacy and serenity he sought. nothing.
nice old hotel, friendly and helpful staff (especially tips where to eat in Moura), parking possibility, pleasant pool -
A grand old building; central location but quiet. Helpful friendly staff. The pool is tiny so I didnt use it. I had some problems with the WIFI but they allowed me to use the hotel computer to get on the internet.
Dogs were allowed. Wonderful historic hotel. friendly. Good breakfast. Lighting in room is too bright and glaring. Not enough shampoo and soaps.
the view Steps to room
I enjoyed the kind staff, the gardens, the views from the family room's balconies and the privacy of the family room.
Excellent position.Full of character and charm. Hotel staff appeared disinterested and preoccupied in business other than guests.
Location! You can see a peaceful landscape of Alentejo from your window. It was a luxurious-cottage-like. It has stoned=floor. It was nice but a bit bad for my backache.
Site and surroundings Not enough staff
The view from the hotel, the calm The noise from the refrigerator
The views are wonderful from the rooms There was no bar, no facilities, breakfast very poor for a 4* hotel staff unfriendly
The staff is very friendly and the facilities are confortable. Breakfast is also very good. The view from the pool / garden is marvelous.
Vila Planicie is in a wonderful location with views of Monsaraz. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Our studio was a good size, very clean, and had good quality linen and furnishings. Breakfast good and regularly replenished. A very peaceful and enjoyable stay.
quiet surroundings, two outdoor pools, close to Monsaraz, vineyards, and lake activities.
Nice hotel, very helpful stuff. Personel of the hotel arranged the New Year party for our family. Great place to start exploring Monsaraz area.
Great accommodation- very comfortable with spacious areas! Lovely views of the country. It was our second visit and we will certainly be back again...
Great Breakfast, full of local product and yet a diverse one. Well equipped apartment, very clean, very friendly staff. a good experience
A lovely spacious and modern apartment with well equipped kitchenette. Fabulous views and surroundings. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. We are planning a return trip in the summer!
The villas & breakfast No internet/wifi
good facilities, great self contained unit, had all kitchen utensils.Brilliant area, great scenery near by. Animals nearby, lots of flies
Very clean and beautiful rooms. Extremely quiet and beautiful view on Monsaraz. Clean and refreshing swimming pool. Good breakfast. Maybe a bit expensive for its location.
The place was amazing, the quite and the conditions were great, I want to repeat this experience on holidays. The late time of the breakfast, for someone that was working, serving at 9 a.m. was late, but for someone on holidays, it's a great hour.
The peace and quiet. The location Restaurent needs a makeover. On 2 nights it was closed,
Everything about the hotel was superlative, from the location, to the quality of the rooms, the setting of the gardens, and the helpfulness of the staff. except . . . . . . the restaurant was closed!!! We went searching for an evening meal in Monsaraz and other places locally, but all the restaurants were closed, except for one or two cafes, where we would not have felt at home as foreign tourists. Eventually we found a supermarket in Reguengos, several miles away, where we bought some basic items to eat on our room terrace. Not the evening we had hoped for, and very disappointing.
Beautiful location. Friendly Staff. Very nicely restored but still traditional. Pool area was not that great but we believe it is to be updated soon. Some parts of the gardens bit shabby especially by the carparking area near the restaurant where there were bottles and rubbish laying around.
I think the breakfast could be better, mainly using more local products
The location, comfort and peaceful surroundings. The breakfast you serve is quite acceptable, but the young lady who is doing it leaves a lot to desire. She seemed to arrive late then rushed to open, late, had not checked what was needed I had to ring all three mornings to ask for something, she should be in attendance.
Beautifully designed hotel in lovely countryside setting, with rooms in well-spaced-out single storey blocks. Very spacious bedrooms and bathrooms as well as communal areas. Helpful and welcoming staff. Although close to Monsaraz, it was a little bit isolated and appeared to lack nearby restaurants/bars.
visiting the lake and surrounding towns
Hospitality, friendly staff, easy to find by car & private parking.
special location and style, local food
The Horta is a luxurious ranch style building set amongst 800 acres of game reserve and vine with extensive gardens and pool and accomodates either groups in up to ten double rooms or single long or short bookings. The gem is Maria who is a local girl who provides a quiet unobtrusive service to her guests. The Horta is situated in remote countryside but within striking distance of all mjor towns on intrest and close to Evora. A real treat. Nothing
Location, staff and rooms are simply charming, the surrounding countryside beautiful. The house is quiet and secluded and yet it is close to Evora and some of the most beautiful locations in Portugal, along the Guadiana Valley. A place anyone should visit and stay in once in one's life ...
The attitude of the family that run the hotel, they were very helpful and did all they could to make you feel at home. The result was a very relaxed stress free stay. The layout of the hotel, furniture, decoration etc, was designed with the comfort of the guests in mind and was very successsful.
the family was very nice person and very hospitable no
The special atmosphere and the personal attitude of the owners
This small, boutique hotel is simply a gem and deserves more notice. The proprietors are very kind and helpful. The hotel is beautiful, well appointed, comfortable--elegant rooms, the host's private collection of Roman antiquities in the lobby, very welcome pool in a lovely courtyard, excellent breakfast. I can't say enough about our stay. This hotel is an excellent value for the money. Nothing--we wished we could stay longer.
Nice place, beautiful landscapes. Well decorated rooms. Good facilities.
A small hotel with character. Owners/Staff were very friendly & helpful.Ideal for a very reasonably priced stop-over en-route from Lisbon to Algarve or vice-versa but well worth staying longer to explore the area.Doesn't serve dinner but 2 very good restaurants nearby( 1 just across the road ).
Friendly and helpful owners. Spacious rooms and good breakfast. A very pleasant stay in a small village close to sights.
The hotel was charming with many traditional artifacts on display. The room was large and well furnished with a good sized bathroom. Very small but pretty pool area. On arrival we were told they did not have our reservation. This was rectified after a phone call but was not the most promising welcome. The gentleman on reception did do his best to reassure us and we were allocated a room and offered a drink. He was also extremely helpful later with providing directions and advice on good restaurants.
the kindness and the conviviality of the landlady located some what far away in a very quit village nice and clean although the weather was not good
