Location Location Location. This was also a very comfortable hotel and deserves its 5 star rating.
The most friendliest and helpful staff I have come across amongst the many hotels I have stayed in around the world. The fact that at any one time only one restaurant was open in spite of the fact that the hotel gives a choice of four (one of the reasons I booked in the first place) also they must find a way of keeping the buffet food hot.Limited choice on the al a carte menu, and quite expensive for the standard.
location and the room Reception- for the size of the hotel, 1 receptionist did not seem enough.
I did like everything! Nothing to complain
Piped music being played The hotel does not need it It is unnessary
The service was absolutely superb. I stay in hotels about 150 nights per year and this is one of the very best hotels I have ever stayed in.
Services & facilities Retaurant Palava
The location of the hotel is very nice (if you have a see side room). The price for internet access is extremely high. Access should be included in room price.
Beautiful grounds and pool area, spacious rooms, nice shower, good breakfast.
The hotel was very clean, the room was a good size and very well maintained, and the pools were lovely The dinner buffet was very expensive for the selection offered.
This is a friendly enough hotel with the accent on catering for Saga customers who although older were obviously happy at the hotel The food was cold and the Dining Room was chaotic at times.Bar staff in the entertainment area were hopelessly slow.
Very clean hotel Staff were very pleasant No coffee/tea making facilities in the room. Breakfast not available for an early departure (prior to 0730) The entertainment outside was too noisy and made sleeping dificult
swimming pool, large room, near front of sea, situation and vision of Calpe Ifaq from room, large balcon
View . Proximity to beach
We have stayed there a number of times and always found it a relaxed and enjoyable experience There were a few minor items that could be repaired in the room
Finally a hotel where they do not just say you cannot reserve the sunbeds by the pool by putting towels on them, but where they actually remove them if people do it anyway, so there are allways plenty sunbeads available.
Location is perfect, service is good, but foods and meals are not enough good. Foods have to be improved.
mostly beach dining out and used the pool area we felt your staff were very unfriendly and hostile towards us, maybe because we are english, and were ignored on a number of occasions at reception and the pool bar whilst another guest was served, and we were never welcomed with a smile. The breakfast room is chaos so we choose to have breakfast out which cost is 50 euros a day extra
friendly staff and very good food, pool area good , location for the beach or a walk also good needed more balcony furniture, room decoration a in need of a make over
We got exactly the rooms we asked for with double beds and stunning views. The hotel is has a fantastic position and is only a short walk to the beach and €6 taxi to the charismatic old town. We paid for the room at check in, however we had to endure a lengthy que to checkout even though there was nothing to pay! Still a fantastic stay though.
convenient location. very clean, good breakfast, nice pool They insisted on playing music through P/A system at 2am . They did not resppond to my written complaint on this.
We thought the hotel was excellent value with very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was excellent. The bahia is well situated for the beach and shops in calpe
reception, lobby, lifts no curtisty room to change and shower if you have checked out and are going home late. decking around pool my wife droped her ring through and it was not easy to recover.breakfast was not good
The helpfulness of the staff and my excellent room
This has been the worst and most overpriced trip my family has ever taken. This is not a 4-star hotel. I would rate it at 2.5 stars. never, ever go to Bahia Calpe in July or August. never The food is horrible both in quantity and quality. Our room was dirty when we arrived with the floor full of sand and hair. There was hair even between the bed sheets. It can take an eternity for the elevator to come and this is a major problem when you travel with a 3-year old and a 1-year old baby. The staff at the reception were extremely unfriendly and finally the swimming pool is a joke. There is hardly any sun during the day and it's very, very small
The location , easy front parking for pick up and going , breakfast and lunch buffet, easy, convenient even with limited choice We had to cancel the 4th night 10/16 to 10/17 , the check out employee would not even consider the question < denying any potential modification of the charge .............paid for a night we never spend at the hotel ............not good ! I look forward to receive the refund on my visa cc 4271...........1064
The proximity to the beach , the excellent sea views, the helpful staff, and the fact that it is close to the old town with its attractions of the Fiesta , shops and restaurants. we were only one of perhaps 4 or 5 parties at the hotel, which was maybe only 10% capacity at most. The restuarant was over priced and apart from the first evening we did not eat meals there except for breakfast with rubbery fried eggsand pre cooked scrambled eggs.Disappointing for such a beautiful hotel.
Breakfast, good view, and location. I had an inconvenient, in the check in, a gentleman gave me a wrong key, when I opened the room I realized it was occupied, it was a little uncomfortable since there was a person with a not good approach to me.
Nice room, seaview, professional staff, good breakfast, garage in basement Air condition did not work, hot in the room. Staff said this should be fixed, but not when (manana, manana). Choosed this hotel because of air condition, should not pay full price when air condition did not work.
The only thing we did like was our superior room balcony! There was no wireless network in any of the rooms even though they said they had. We had to use the computer then go down to reception to try and get a connection! Hotel is not a 4 star at all, you just have to walk over the road to the Sol y Mar to see a good 4 star hotel Just to carry on from above, it was tatty, the breakfast was usually cold, there were no porters to help with bags, there were no ramps so even though this hotel is reasonably new, it is no good for children in pushchairs, old people and disabled and certainly no good for business thanks to the lie about wireless net work!
Wonderful breakfast in the morning and great staff at breakfast 1) We arrived early (for a 1wk stay) & the gentleman who checked us in wasn't going to allow us to use the room (with out 20mth son) until the official time. The hotel was less than 25% occupied. A more mature staff member came along and intervened. She allowed us into the room immediately & upgraded us. This was the difference between a staff member on a powertrip and one who knows about true customer service. Train your younger front desk staff sol y Mar! 2) the car park was expensive 3) I was shocked that we were charged EUR 30 to use the spa once.
perfect location, cleanliness, service and breakfast very good, front desk spoke good english and very helpfull car park under hotel took some finding with one way system but good and secure once found way in
The room size and design not really a problem with the hotel ,but parking was expensive
Very enjoyable stay Breakfast very good but eggs very oily and hot water for tea not very hot
A brand new hotel, very nice facilities and comfortable room, excellent breakfast
This is the 3rd time that I have stayed at the hotel and the standard has never dropped. In fact I am always pleased to see so many familiar faces amongst the staff which is also a good sign. They are always willing to help with any query, very friendly and the hotel is just so serene, beautiful location, design and rooms so roomy and luxurious. I would never stay anywhere else in Calpe - I'm too spoilt at Solymar. I honestly cannot think of one thing that I did not like during my stay there.
Indoor spa was excellent, great customer service Outside pool was extremely cold
Everything.. Very impressive.
The breakfast was excellent quality. The pool was in a lovely position but not heated! There wasn't enough English language TV. A hotel of this standard should have some form of tarnsfer from Alicante airport. Taxis were outrageously expensive.
The closeness to the beach and the restaurants, plus the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff The cafe bar only sells sandwiches and therefore outside of the main restaurant opening times there was nothing else available to eat. Although it has a beautiful spa for adults, the children's facilities were lacking. Advertised events were cancelled without letting anyone know and therefore we still turned up for them
We just stayed for one night, half board. The hotel was everything you can expect from a 4-star hotel ; good food and clean and comfortable rooms.
The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Because of my allergy a clean room is very important. Breakfast is very good. Nice staff. Check in procedure took a long time.
beeing in calpe i allways try to stay in diamante. best value for your money.
Great value for money in off season, very modern luxurious hotel.
A modern hotel with very good facilities, well situated. High standard of good food and well presented. Generally the staff were friendly and professional,on the morning of our departure we had a very rude waitress serving breakfast!
Staff very friendly and helpful. Food excellent,. Superb location
Early morning staff was poor in Dining Area/ took ages to get a cup of coffee.
staff were very nice, friendy and professional
Good location next to the beach, sea view from room and balcony, good outside pool and bar area Breakfast was unimaginative. Very few indoor facilities
The Suite and view
location, pool, Altea
This is about the sixth time we have stayed at this hotel that is why we keep coming back. On our return journey we will try to get in again. The only thing that we found to moan about was the slowness of the lifts.
a pleasant clean hotel easy to find right on the beach with ocean views overlooking the pool.altea is a small charming fishing town with many seafood restaurants overlooking the ocean. free carparking adjoining the hotel. nothing
Convenient, friendly and fairly comfortable. Would ahve appreciated tea/coffee making facilities in the room.
great location Food. Breakfast was a poor selection. We had one look at the buffet dinner when we arrived and decided to eat all meals except breakfast at outside restaurants.
wonderful poolarea, fantastic ocean, comfortable rooms, fantastic view from our room. It would have been great if your staff were better at english, but everybody were very nice and helpful.
The hotel is in a fabulous position right on the beach and every room has at least a partial sea view. The pool is very spacious and there is a good pool bar. The buffet breakfast was very good.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.. Very nice relaxing hotel.
staff and hotel were delightful, I am coeliac and the staff and chef were able to provide gluton free meals Including gluten free bread. It is rare that I am shown such attention and could not have asked for better service. Decor and comfort were really great. shame we were there for only one night
Everything was just great. Staff excellent - friendly and efficient. I decided to change room type at the last minute as realised that Junior Suite didn't have a balcony and that was no problem at all. Our room had a panoramic view of the countryside and mountains. Dinner (Three- course - €18.50 at the time) was excellent, unusual blends of flavours and beautifully cooked meat. At breakfast a lovely lady was frying eggs whichever way you liked them and there was plenty of choice. Bed was comfortable, internet connection in room, very good. The hotel has an almost Colonial feel to it. Excellent! Had a little trouble finding it as hotels are not officially signposted. It showed up on the opposite side of the road and further away than the GPS showed. A sign in both directions would help, but this is a tiny niggle, not a complaint.
Out of town so no traffic noise. Very Spanish atmosphere. Very obliging restaurant coped with unusual allergy. Pleasant gardens, comfy bed, good bathroom. Not a nice walk into town, especially at night, no footpath, no street lights. Bedrooms furnished Spanish style, simply, so no armchairs.
This hotel is in an old villa converted fairly recently into a hotel The rooms are large, have been designed to retain the feeling of the villa and are generally well supplied. The restaurant serves excellent cuisine and is worth visiting even if you don't stay at the hotel. There is one English channel on the tv -- bbc World. We didn't use the gym or pool due to the time of year and our brief stay, but it looked complete. The entrance to the hotel off of the road is very steep or must be done via a dirt track to get onto the hotel driveway into the very ample parking lot. This approach from the road should be modified. The tv in the room was small. There was room for a larger one, and the small one seemed lost in the big room.
A well appointed hotel and great ambience, short walk to the Old Town, a good place to relax, really enjoyed our short stay, breakfast very good.
the location is increadable the street is full of cars all the night and day. it is noisy very very much, if you have apartments, so be ready for this noise
Location, facilities and Spa serious problems to get a shower in the pools
Location Absolutely everything is extra or missing: €20 to use the safe for one night (or up to a week). There is a kettle and cups but no tea or coffee. €10 to open the minibar. The water in the taps is undrinkable in the hotel, but fine everywhere else. You have to leave a €30 deposit even to use the phone. The cleaning staff walk in unannounced at any time of the day (9.20 and 10.55 on my last day). The cleaning staff consistently left the balcony door unlocked and open despite a written request (in Spanish) taped to the door. The air-conditioning had a choice of 'permanently blow hot' and 'off' When I tried to complain, the receptionist failed to get the manager after promising that she would see me, and when I finally got to see the manager I was offered an internal complaints form and they refused to give me an 'hoja de recamaciones' (official complaints form) despite repeated requests.
What l liked the most was the the security of the hotel. The staff where very helpful and the restaurant was well organized.
Staff very helpful,Food very good and varied, Beachfront. Nice area. Could have a better equipment that works properly in the gym.
clean, friendly and helpful service the spa, pool would have been better if private - it's located at the front of the hotel where it can be seen by all passers by
The location of the hotel was beautiful with good views on the sea. The room was nice and spacious. The breakfast buffet had daily variations. Having to pay for extras such as safe & wifi.
location, sea view, food, the room
Getting up in the morning, beds were very hard and we did not sleep well Going to bed, the beds were the worst we have ever had in a hotel
proximity to beach, view from balcony, informal atmosphere, architecture, quiet nature of its location.
location presentation of the hot breakfast food servery
The view was excelent, the hotel was very well presented. We found a slight dissapointment with the food, breakfast imparticular.
Very convenient location, and stunning views. Also, check out the mad waiter at Bar Ciao Ciao three doors away! As expected when we booked, there is quite a lot of noise from the port area. There is also poor sound insulation between rooms.
Right next to the Peñón which has amazing views. The hotel was very clean and looked to be newly furnished. Right next to some great beaches and lovely views. I asked for a room with a view of the Peñón, but got a side room instead which was disappointing. But I think all of the rooms have some view of the water. Also, if you want to be close to the centre of Calpe, this may not be the hotel for you as it's a long walk (about 30-45 mins I think), but it's a nice walk along the beach though.
good location could have done with a bar
Within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and beaches.
Very good location The bathroom probably needs some improvement, but otherwise the hotel was fine
Helpful staff & efficient, swift response to customer needs
Welcoming staff, great location near the port, restaurants and beaches. Spacious room, free wifi and good facilities.
I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. During the day I was out with friends who had rented a villa in Calpe, so I basically only used the hotel to sleep and take a shower in the morning. Rooms were clean and absolutely value for money. The only minor issue I had, was that the noise from the hallway. The doors / walls did not have enough isolation to absorb this, so as a result I woke up a few times, during the night, due to slamming doors or people talking on the hallway.
The room is very spacious and clean, comfortable bed, the location of the hotel is very close to Calpe's beaches and restaurants near the Marina. Bus-stop to FGV tram-train station and Calpe's old town centre is just 5 minutes' away. Staffs are friendly, and the restaurant right next to the hotel offers good food at reasonable prices.
close to beach very noisy, bad sound isolation
Air conditioning did not work. Safe in room did not work. Hotel was approx 20 minuets from the beach.
new modern, clean hotel.location not good if you want to be close to main seafront area. went at end of october and hotel, full of spanish pensioners.they took over and they were very rude and ignorant towards other guests
The hotel was amazing, the staff as well, very helpful. The room was really nice and clean. They change the towels everyday, very efficient, no delays. The food was great as well, big choice. Also you can have buffet lunch at the hotel which is very comfortable and big choice.
Buffet selection good. Wine price and selection in restaurant good. 1) Guest parking at €12 per day is not " a small additional charge" when staying for nearly a week, and the fact that there was free street parking right outside hotel failed to be mentioned. 2) Gymnasium very poor, equipment needs servicing if not updating (one exercise bike didn´t have a seat, weight machines were rusted and dangerous to use). 3) Although bought wine in restaurant each night - not allowed to finish bottle in lounge/ bar area, which seemed petty and usually resulted in us going out for a drink elsewhere as wine choice in bar was poor.
Breakfast was excellent. The hotel room was very spacious and had good views.
Location close to beach and shopping/restaurants Not god service among the staff, no smile, no service minded at all.
The position of the Hotel was exelent for bus drive to surrounding placeses. The staff acted profesionalt, and was service mindet. Nothing
excellant standard throughout not really...I was a bit concerned with the amount of hot drinks being carried at meal times with a lot of children running about too.
It was a nice hotel and very good situated not so far from Albir centre, however due to the many spanish tourists it was very noisy.
Reception area was modern, and clean. The 'spa' as per the hotel name was closed, without any prior notice when booking the hotel. The shower(s) were constantly varying in temperature, making basic comforts not enjoyable.
Luxury rooms, good breakfast and nice restaurant. At first It seemed to me that the hotel was situated too far from the beach (about 800 meters), but actually it wasn't a very serious drawback.
The warm welcome and friendliness of the staff.......the appearance and design of exteria and interior of hotel........the pool area......the menu options e.g. gourmet meals and light meals of good quality. No
design facilities and location
Villa Marisol was an extremely friendly, peaceful and relaxing oasis away from the crowds of Calpe. A real gem to which we will definitely be returning. n/a
Pool and plants, trees etc plus waste ground before high rise hotels, not great but hotels were about 1/2 mile away and sea beyond that
the room was very comfortable and the view was good the location was a bit inconvienient and we got a taxi home a few times
New hotel large room/beds. Any problems and questions were dealt with quickly. Evening meal/buffet closed at 10pm
The staff were very friendly and helpful It would have been nice if the bar and lounge areas were separate and more variety at breakfast.
The quite atmosphere. The secure parking
Nice views, good swimming pool, large balconies. Quick and efficient repair of broken fridge in room. The staff were very unfriendly, especially those in charge at breakfast. Also at the breakfast, plates were taken away literally before the last of the food had reach our mouths. There is piped music by the pool which we found irritating and it can also be heard in some rooms. On checkout we were charged for a meal we never had.
The upgraded dinner on Saturday night in the small exclusive restaurant on top floor of hotel was of excellent quality and service and very enjoyable. The buffet restaurant dinner was poor with food not very hot and poor choice of meat dishes. Also few desserts on offer and additionally no coffee available in restaurant in evening. However, the breakfasts were good.
Hotel room, pool, bar, food all excellent+++++++++++++++++
Pleasant surroundings Because so few guests no buffet breakfast laid out so little choice
Being a keen traveller I am always enthusiastic to do and see as much as possible in new places and therefore really appreciated suggestions and recommendations by the staff whose friendliness and professionalism made a huge impression. I particularly liked the quiet location of the hotel and eventhough I had my car, I was happy to walk up and down the hill - a really pleasant walk to the sea, cafes and shops - if not for the good exercise but also to get a feel for the area. I very much enjoyed the Spa which I think offers good value for money. It was certainly a welcoming alternative when it was too chilly to bathe in the outdoor pool or in the sea (I was there end April). All the hotel facilities are spotlessly clean and I loved the variety of terraces to choose from, and one in particular on the roof top with lovely views of the mountains and sea!
Beautiful views from reception. Large, warm, clean rooms. Staff very friendly and polite. The hotel is advertised as 4 star however you have to pay for all facilities. 12E to swim in indoor pool. Wifi 1E per hour. Very basic breakfast, no brown bread available, tinned fruit salad and stale pastries. Single rooms are at the back on street side and noisy as near bottle bank. Hotel is on a steep hill, not suitable for the less mobile.
Nice breakfast and the rooms were very clean. The staff had no English, and the wifi did not work.
The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Overall this is an excellent low cost hotel. The place was clean and unique with the owners making a huge effort to keep the place clean and very beautifully decorated. Nothing at all
Rooms is fully furnished and equipped small refregirator. On the 2rd floor situated beautiful terrace free for visiting all time. Not very good location. That hotel situated in the old part of city and you should walk to big water about 15 minutes trough "high hills". Bad service. Staff are not so friendly and not so helpfully. Moreover they don't know another language than their own. During festivals on the street where hotel situated is very noisy. Rooms. Shower works strangely, cranes are often frustrated. In rooms not all safes works correctly. Scanty breakfasts.
very good location in centre of old town, close to restaurants, beach is 10mins walk, very cosy comfortable butique hotel, nice rooms and beautiful rooftop terrace please note this hotel has NO parking facilities, 'free parking' means parking in a free lot about 10mins walk from the hotel in the old town, which may or may not be full; staff is friendly but speaks no english
Nice location (far enough from the noisy seaside, in the picturesque old town area, but still very close to the sea (5 minutes of slow walking). Nice roof terrace where the breakfast is served and where one can admire the view of an old town. The room was very small but very clean and newly refurbished. Well, the room was small, it's actually a double bed with some little space around. But it's acceptable because one is really not supposed to spend days in such hotels, just nights.
small and friendly Parking was a problem
Nice rooms; helpful, friendly staff; relaxed atmosphere. A charming hotel all round. No
The hotel was in the old town of Altea in a practical and sharming area. Sharming, clean room with style. The lady in the reseption was very helpful, but did not speak english. Paying with card did not functinate at the time
Charming room, wonderful location and a tranquil atmosphere Room a little small for a very long stay of over a week. We stayed 6 nights and really enjoyed ourselves
Welcome and service
Just like Cuprinol, I t was everything it said it was and more!
Location and style
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It´s about a 2 minute walk to the beach and some old roman ruins (bath house) are another 5 minutes away on the rocks near the beach. Also great views of the "Ifach" mountian. We rented the Apartment for 2. The apartment was very large and could easily be for more people, in fact it had a pull down bed in additon to the 2 large twin beds. Was fully equipped except for an oven. The receptionist at the front desk is extremely rude and unhelpful. She would only answer our questions with yes or no. When asking for a ocean view she just said no.... period. Very rude.
We arrived at 4am the person on reception could not understand we were trying to book in , the main lights didn't work the toilet didn't work the second day someone had been in our room and took 70 euros out of our suit case we reported it to the manager but she didn't seem bothered
the apartment was large enough for 4 to 6 people, the bedroom was lovely and big but the lounge area was small, the bathroom was also very nice, all of it was very clean, they have sea views but if you have are allocated an apartment at the back be warned its on a noisy road the kitchen area needs updating its not adequate for proper cooking as with all these apartments if you are english there is no kettle or toaster! so take your own! and we agree with the previous reviewer, the staff are awful!!!!! cant even say hello when you arrive horrible people!! we only stayed one night so did not say anything but would have otherwise
The location was excellent between a very nice beach and the special fish/shellfish restaurants. Our room had a wonderful view. Nice bathroom The furniture was a bit old, especially at the balcony.
