The staff were very helpful when I raised the concern below. Other reports on the web site do not mention that the hotel is right next to the Inner Ring Road in Derby. Rather more than half the rooms directly overlook the dual carriageway, so I would suggest that anyone who has difficulty with traffic noise either go elsewhere or ensure that you get a room on the other side of the hotel. I was given a lovely room overlooking the Ring Road, which was quiet late on Sunday when I arrived. After being awoken at 5am by traffic, I asked the staff if I could have a room on the back of the hotel. I was given one without any problem and was happy with the other two nights of my stay. I would also strongly recommend that anyone with a car park it first, then walk 100m to the hotel.
Good modern hotel, friendly staff. Well located near cathedral.
No free parking
Very clean, with professional, friendly staff. Nice atmosphere, and nice new place. Room had nice full length windows, and was very comfortable. Bar was expensive, but was very relaxing.
Good location, very convenient for both the city centre and the park. And the midday check out is very welcome. Being on an island in the middle of Derby's ring road means that it's a bit tricky to drive up to the door, or to turn around if you overshoot. Not a huge problem though, and nothing to put me off booking again.
New hotel in good location to amenities
The only black mark against the expereince was the lady receptionist who was on duty upon arrival - she was rude, uninformative about parking arrangements and unprofessional. Also, the car parking arrangements need to be more clearly set out on arrival and / or on their website.
Great location, near to the city centre. Hotel was comfortable and clean. Staff were helpful and friendly. No parking facilities at the hotel. (We used Chapel Street Car Park, a short walk away, across the ring road).
All staff we met: reception, bar and cleaning, were very helpful and polite. None.
everything was great, staff, room, food, price no complaints
good bar & restaurant. very central, rooms clean & well furnished the lack of parking is very poor as the underground carpark is closed. there is no drop off parking to allow you to unload cases so you need to drive to the local carpark & struggle back with cases & children
Location All satisfactory
The Food and Hotel staff, nothing was too much trouble it made the weekend n/a
The central location and ease of getting to where I wanted to go.
Bar prices and quite exorbitant charge for breakfast which we chose not to have.
The room was very quiet and comfortable and the staff extremely friendly.
excellent and helpful staff no
Staff helpful and nice but without the forced effect ypu get through training to be nice if you get my meaning. Food excellent. Plus best coffee I've had in a long while came from the barman. Dark room at night Bit pushy on buying bottles of wine with evening meal. Cold shower curtain envelopes you
The hotel was ideally situated close to the railway station for the purpose of my visit and for someone who had never been in Derby before.
The Hotel was beautiful, clean and modern and I would recommend a stay here to anyone Nothing
although discounted room rate breakfast was really expensive - 11-50 for continental!
The location of the hotel is good for visiting the centre of Derby, and the rooms are of a good standard for the price Following a dispute over the night I stayed/booked at the hotel, the resolution to this was completely unsatisfactory.
Free car parking
The comfortable beds and free parking, all staff appeared happy!
Very warm hotel, as it was freezing out side. Good parking, as it is in the city centre. Very modern hotel. Tea and coffee cold, as it was in flasks at breakfast, but apart from that it was a good selection of food on offer.
It was lovely and warm
It was warm, relaxing and very friendly, loved the hotel and will go back. could not find anything wrong such a pleasant stay thank you.
Easy access to town centre, nice bar, clean room think your breakfast price is a bit expensive, hence all three times i have stayed i go to the little cafe next door
the whole hotel, staff everything made us feel very welcome
Nothing ! They forgot the alarm clock + newspaper + Staff at the reception very unfriendly + Too hot in the room because of the heat system, with an AC very noise!
very central, smart hotel no lift having to struggle up two flights of stairs with cases, finding after a whole night sweating that theirs a fan in the wardrobe.
Location was excellent for our needs as it was a 2 minute walk from the train station. Very clean and modern hotel with friendly staff. Stayed in a twin room and the mattresses were very hard which did not allow for a very comfortable sleep.
Excellent clean facilities. Good in room entertainment. None
This is a new and smart hotel with a cheerful and enthusiastic reception staff. It is very convenient to the city centre and very close to the station. There is a generous car parking area and the access from the a52 and the city are very easy. Some of the room facilities were basic - no bath - no hook to hang a towel or coat in the ensuite. Tap on the basin did not overlap the basin fully so tended to spread water over the adjacent surface. Early morning noise from the trains marshalled overnight in the adjacent sidings (motors started at 0500hrs)might disturb a very light sleeper.
It was convenient for the train station and the Pride Park Football Ground and had all the essentials for a short break. The view from the room was of waste ground. We didn't get many towels (one hand and one bath towel for two people).
Modern hotel, rooms small, bed not comfortable, staff pleasant, good breakfast. OK for 1 or 2 nights
Clean and tidy.Dinner in the restuarant was good
Good facilities, clean and comfortable, good value. Could not alter heating in room as control appeared to be fixed; it was so hot it gave me a sore throat. I opened window but then had 24hr noise from railway station, although this was not a problem as managed to sleep through. Hotel situated in a very large business park/area with building work ongoing; got lost a couple of times. No signposts showing hotels.
The room was really nice and clean. The location so close to Pride Park was great as the reason for the nights stay was to tie in with the game.
The rooms were very good modern and of a high standerd of finish. good that free onsite parking was available.
Well appointed funky hotel and room with everything needed for an overnight stay. Breakfast good Staff friendly and helpful Outlook a bit grim at the moment as building work in grounds continues
The rooms are comfortable with nice furnishings. Excellent breakfast and restaurant.
The meals at this hotel were excellent Our room had a night storage heater and was very cold. We had to request an extra heater which they promptly brought to our room. During the night we could hear every 2 mins. a fan going off from one of the balconies outside so didn't get any sleep. We therefore curtailed our stay to only one night
Staff were very helpful. I requested if we could just have soup in the restaurant at lunch time when they were setting up for the evening and we were able to, which was nicer than sitting in the open area.
The dinner at the hotel was excellent and the wait staff were more than accommodating – they helped make the evening very enjoyable. Really nothing to complain about. It is a very nice hotel and provided us with a great base.
Pool area was superb Nothing
good location for the family visit the bed was too hard!
The rooms are comfortable and well kept.
The food was outstanding, the pool and jacuzzi relaxing and staff could not do enough for you, and with a genuine smile always.
Generally a nice hotel with a good atmosphere and facilities French Onion Soup
Very little. Reception, pool reception and restaurant recpetion were untidy and a mess of bits of paper. Pool chaging area was littered with janitor's equipment and materials. £144 for a dbl bed boxroom is ridiculous. That this is a 4* hotel is incredible.
The hotels location was good for the city and bars plus food. The staff where polite and welcoming. The hotel was very clean.
The ice maker at the end of the corridor Dust in my room
Prices for breakfast. reception staff hide behind desk. although unocupied reception staff did not meet & greet or speek when one passed. Lift painfully slow. Smell of paint on 1st floor. Smell of drains on approch to hotel (restaraunt side). Noise from restaraunt entrance next door. Only 3 milk and 3 coffee for 2 people over 3 days?
the hotel was very clean and modern perfectly place for the city and shopping areas
Very convenient location since close to rail station and town centre so excellent for theatre and shopping. Clean and tidy room with easily enough space for 2. I know it was only a basic room but missed some of the things you take for granted in other hotels such as a clock and tissues. Only a very minor point and not bad if that's all I can complain about...!!
good room and reasonable price
Hotel was well placed for the station and for the southern side of the city. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Room was a little tired; the bathroom light had no cover (bare bulb), the shower control didn't work properly and the wifi wasn't working properly during my stay (management apologised, but that is little consolation). Also, room rate advertised on the hotel entrance was less than I paid, and colleagues staying at other (newer) local hotels of similar rating were paying lower rates than I did. The reception area was pokey and not suitable for meeting a client in the morning (a busy and public area) and the bar area was not available for this use as breakfast was ongoing. Having client meetings in a (used) bedroom is not terribly professional, but there was no alternative.
Very close to the train station and very quiet.
Position ideal for those travelling by rail, with adequate parking for car travellers. breakfasts excellent value.
nothing it was dierty !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was convenient to the airport Nothing
Only stayed a few hours due to late flight so really can't comment
Ideak location for airport
Distance to event at Donington Race Circuit Pool was closed, which was one of the reasons we chose the hotel
Close to the airport The price was extortion.
very comfortable, friendly environment, from which to enjoy the onward journey refreshed and rested.
atmosphere kids running up and down hallway at 4-30am
Extremely comfortable bed and close proximity to the airport very expensive drinks
This was a comfortable relaxed stop off overnight before a flight. I had a small hot snack in the bar at 1000pm which was welcome but I would have wished the standard of the fish cake to be a bit higher.
Nothing Shower did not work. In room Broadband was NA.
Good location with car park. Clean and comfortable room Nothing
Very plesant nice staff good hotel , will stay again
Friendly staff, clean rooms
The hotel rooms are clean, hotel staff are friendly and the breakfast is great. Some of the hotel rooms are still being renovated so they aren't all of the same standard.
An extremely clean and comfortable hotel with friendly and welcoming staff. we felt that we got veryy good value.
nice and quiet the night reception had a terrible attitude problem
only the breakfast was ok. our booking was messed up (someone couldn't read instructions from web booking). we did not get the correct rooms (one bed short) and one room stank of smoke.
The hotel was easily found and was warm and friendly the services offered were very good and the standard iof housekeeping were very good, night porter was very helpful on leaving Nothing found to need improvement.
The stairs were very dirty, they had obviously not been cleaned for several days.
Very good hotel, better than you would expect for the price. Good breakfast on the morning, good quality beds, staff very good... Overall can't fault Room we stayed in was under the stairs so did get a bit of noise, ear plugs sorted this minor problem though
Perfect for a Business stay. Good value for money. The staff can't do enough for you. Mattress wasnt great
Staff friendly & clean well equipted room no complaints
My single room was of the quality I expected (upon arrival), for the price paid. The advertised freeview TV was unobtainable, however, I did not raise the issue with reception, due to a meeting elswhere on the evening of my stay. When preparing to leave my room, I noticed stains and damage to both pillow cases.(Unacceptable at any accommodation). The public areas were in dire need of refurbishment. The hotel bar was of a standard similar to hostel accommodation, with damaged light fittings, delapidated shelving and a filthy carpet running fully through the lounge area.
the location was easy to find and easy to get to Derby city centre..It was my second stay and I will be returning. liked it all
Clean, crisp, exactly what it says on the tin, no frills good value, would definitely stay there again.
Good location, friendly staff, clean, beautiful building Double bed was extremely small, no frigde in the room
Very pleasent building quite, rooms were very clean and adequate for overnight stop. Booked a double room but was given a single! Changed with no fuss but double bed a bit small for 2 people, hence spent most of the night not trying to fall out rather than sleeping.
A very Interesting & Unique Environment There was a conference for delegates happening at the time of my visit and a few of them were stood at the front doors smoking (dont have a problem with this!) and were spitting, which I do have a problem with!
Was contacted just before my stay to confirm the booking and was offered packed lunches for the event I was attending. Was made to feel very welcome upon arrival and at all stages during my stay. Nice room, compact but well laid out and with good facilities. Lovely building and grounds. Secure parking. Great breakfast. Packed lunch was lovely and the supporting information on the event I was attending was very welcome. No bad points as such, if I was picky I'd have liked a more powerful shower but that's being really picky!
Cheap (Double)room too small
Even though it snowed and the heating broke down the staff were very helpful and as the dining room was freezing breakfast was complimentary It was unfortunate the public areas were very cold
Good sized family room Family room requested via online booking - this request not passed to hotel. Luckily, staff available to configure room on our arrival.
The staff were very helpful, friendly and courteous. We dined at the restaurant and although the food was average again the staff were most helpul.
not a lot room smelt of smoke
Price included parking and free transfer to airport
the bar and cafe area are nice and relaxing the beds are really uncomfortable, i must have woke up 4-5 times during the night.
Courteous staff Inability to provide a babysitter despite advertising this service on the hotel information leaflet.
A comfortable bed after a weekend of camping at the Download Festival. N/A
Convenience and quality of service
All you need is available. Very good employee! Extraordinary good shuttle! Thank you very much for service! Directly at the highway
Good ,friendly staff and facilities Room was very hot ,window hardly opened so uncomfrotable on a hot evening .bed mattress had seen better days but other than that everything else fine
Everything was fine!
everything was fantastic My only gripe was that the plates were cold at breakfast
It was supposed to be relaxing but there was cheer leading convention staying at hotel who did not respect that others were staying at the hotel and woke every one up at 700 am coaches shouting in corridor took over hotel no area to sit where it was quiet woken up overnight as well with the noise but i realise tis was not the hotels fault but i have never been anywhere where guests were so noisy.
the relaxing atmosphere the cold shower
Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely bedroom. Good dinner menu and breakfast. Would recommend this hotel.
Very nice stylish hotel with very good fitness and swimming pool, tasty breakfast
Very comfortable good parking very good over all package
The style and character of the hotel. Very comfortable and clean. Spacious rooms. The fitness did not have hours that were convenient for me. 24/7 would be ideal, but if it opened at 5am or 6am, that would have been nice.
breakfast old, uncomfortable bed
Terrible Sound Insulation - can hear every creaky floorboard in adjoining room and downstairs Disco to 12 midnight
The hotel was great. Position was ideal. The rooms were really comfortable albeit a little small. We stayed in a Junior Double so perhaps the other rooms are bigger. The service in the lounge area and cocktail bar were good. The breakfast was included in our room rate so was great value not so good if you have to pay £15 per person. Would highly recommend especially for business travellers.
The location It was a busy weekend and arriving in the entrance to the hotel fighting our way through the wedding party who were blocking the entrance was difficult.
rooms are very comfortable. staff are lovely. the room service took forever and wasn't great quality for 2 sandwiches
The hotel is very nice, clean, quiet, one of the best spots of Derby.
This was my third visit to this hotel and I can't speak highly enough of the service, the cleanliness and comfort of the room and the high standard of the facilities. Excellent value for money, highly recommended. Unfortunately the hotel does not have its own car park and although there is a nearby public car park, it was closed for refurbishment during this visit.
Very clean & comfortable. Staff very helpful Small room. Though I could have been o0ffered a better room considering the hotel was not full. The room was very small
I booked at very short notice and everything was ready and a thoroughly comfortable stay, no hassle good staff. Desk a little cramped for working but I only booked a single room.
Fantastic new hotel, quiet and tasteful room, comfortable bed, clean, close to city centre, excellent breakfast, friendly staff. The only downside was lack of parking. There is a private car park 100 metres away, but this is pretty expensive. Information at the time of booking had suggested on-site parking so this was unexpected.
Beautiful Hotel - inviting entrance and reception area - magnificent staircase - a real wow factor. Perfect location - 2 minutes awayd from shoping, bars & restaurants. Staff really helpful - would stay here quite happily again. Cocktail bar in reception area which we didn't use as the door to the cocktail bar was closed so didn't feel inviting. Rooms are beautiful but dark and TV is in an awkward place.
Breakfast was horrible
good value for money
British breakfast with scrumble egg and sausages. Drinks and sweets services. 24h/24h desk. Near East Midlands Airport but more than 1 mile walk. Calm but we stayed in low season. BOOKING_com false price for a 4 adult room booked. We had to pay 15 gbp per night/per adult if more than 2 adults in room. The 4 adult room was a double bed with sofa. Sofa bedding was not done, we had to do ourself our bed for 15 gbp per night/per adult supplement! Not enough light in the room. Old tv set, with all channels a little scrumbled.
Ease of checking in and out, self service breakfast. Choice of breakfast, I would have preferred and better selection, a bit basic.
hotel facilties and location
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The shuttle from the hotel was speedy and efficient We ate in the restaurant but were dissapointed by the choice, partivularly as ran out of fish which was one of the 4 items on the menu. In addition the air conditioning leaked over my 5 year old's bed and he was forced to share a single bed with another adult.
On airport campus and had car parking facilities The hotel provided me with all I wanted for access to airport
comfy room, good breakfast, no problems arriving late. Very much a business hotel. Could do with better directions from airport
Just served a purpose Told there would be a shuttle and there wasn't
Excellent location for the airport, the staff were very friendly and efficient and the rooms were well equipped and comfortable. We spent a very relaxing evening there and were also able to have something to eat, despite the late hour of our arrival. The buffet breakfast was also excellent. No negatives.
this was a very nice hotel. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were lovly and warm, only thing wrong was hot water in sink tap was boiling! stick with the shower that was perfect. Recomend the food, very nice and if you want a less expensive meal i can recomend the calvery for only around £4. Great,, plan to stay again.well done.
A lovely relaxing family run hotel. I needed an early breakfast due to business and they were very obliging. The attached Bubble Inn is also excellent with a superb menu.
The room was very tastefully designed. The bathroom was very nice! Good value for money. Bathroom doors should be 100% frosted! We were not advised adequately about the underflor heating, and the need to turn the temperature up gradually as the pipes really do hold the heat!
Excellent disabld facilites. Very friendly and most helpful staff. More than ample food! Not sure if it is an hotel side problem but the dining was very good but with an inadequre wine list to complement the otherwise very good food.
Every so often you come across a Gem ! this is certainly one, there is nothing to fault. Natasha is an excellent host has pride and total care for her property. Staying in 60 + hotel per year in the UK, this is up in the top 3 . If you get the opportunity give it a go, I imagine that in the summer this must be an amazing place to stay. thankyou. Trying to get into the hotel front door ! ..
Immaculate, clean and luxurious. Management extremely helpful and much thought has gone into the facilities in the room. Restaurant and bar had a comfortable atmosphere and the menu although we did not eat there looked excellent at very reasonable prices. Will definitely visit again.
