10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is the most amazing hotel and location. It is beautifully situated overlooking a creek, field of cattle and the mountains. The hotel is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The staff were absolutely wonderful. They were friendly, courteous, attentive, helpful....This is located right at the edge of town when you first enter. It is a lovely, rustic wood & stone (new) establishment that includes a bar & restaurant. The rooms were slightly on the small side, but still were lovely with double layer shuttered windows and bathroom. You can sit on the back patio and enjoy the view while the full service bar brings you your drinks (and some nice mixed nuts/snacks with it). Dinner was to open at 7:30 but when I asked if it was 7 or 7:30, the reply was "We open at 7:30, but it can be 7 if you'd like." Breakfast was only 5€ pp and included full service continental breakfast (yogurts, meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, juice, coffee) brought to your table. Just a very lovely place.
Cons: The only cons were small: soundproofing wasn't great. Our room was on the first floor, right next to the stairs (wooden) so you could hear clearly every time someone (usually in hiking boots!) walk up or down. At night, we could hear the room next door coughing, the room upstairs walking around a bit, etc. Also, when we first arrived, you could tell the bathroom floor (large tiles) had been cleaned & mopped, but there was some hair in the corners (left by the mopping no doubt). The shower tiles had a bit of dark/grey in the white grout in the corners, but overall everything still seemed clean.

Pros: This was our third Camino and our first in Vega de Valcarce. We loved our private room that had a back balcony that overlooked the fast flowing stream. Pros: The location was good, on the Camino. I had the most beautiful view. The room was spacious.

Pros: The property had a lovely stone facade and recently renovated rooms with nice views.
Cons: I don’t think I’ve experienced a worse ‘welcome’ at check in. The owner was unbelievably rude and if I hadn’t already paid for the room I would have stayed elsewhere. Do yourself a favour and stay up the road at El Capricho de Josana, where the proprietors are lovely and the food delicious.
